I'm already getting annoyed with some of the dumber Wichita people spouting this line. They hate Creighton so much and think this somehow gives them a leg up on the Blue Jays. Having a far superior basketball coach and actually winning some games in March gives them a leg up on Creighton. This? No.

Until the AAC or the Big East has the power to create their own legislation without the approval of the rest of the NCAA, they will not be a Power Five (or P6, or P7) conference.

The difference is that we (Big East) understand that we'll never be in a position with such power.

Hilarious and very sad at the same time. If it was as simple as a league decision to become a "power conference", every league with football would be one.....you know, they would all be part of the Power100 conference group.

Hilarious. Basing your case that you are a Power Conference on that you had players Drafted by the NFL.

As the Cleveland Browns have shown for years, just because a guy is Drafted, doesn't mean that he's any good.

The AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC still stinks.

And the AAC is skewing the statistics and their fans are buying into because they're all idiots. The AAC has 12 football members. The Big 12 only has 10. The AAC averaged 1.25 draft picks per school and the Big 12 averaged 1.4 per school. The AAC had one god damn pick more than the Big 12 with two more schools. But sure, they should definitely go all in on this power 6 bullshit.

UC fans are and will always be morons.

Take it back! :pissedoff:

Nevermind the conference picks, I find it more interesting the Power 5 schools with no draft picks. A school like Kentucky isn't all that surprising, but I am shocked Oregon had nobody drafted.

I don't want to even think about the countless dollars that cost to be produced.

Every one of their suggestions or bullet points says "Continue this..." or "Improve on..."

That is some next level shit right there.

Read Pillar 5 - 20/24.

Some obvious stuff. Some good stuff.

Everyone has to prepare for the (media's) future.

I can't believe a lot of this. The Athletic Goals are comical.

I'd like to point out in Pillar 5-14, they are looking to "explore barter relationships, particularly in hotel, airline, rental car, and office supplies". Does that mean in exchange for a couple cases of notebook paper, they'll give Staples free tickets to the Tulane vs East Carolina game?

I'm not reading it. The most hated phrase in corporate speak may be in it.

Some of the phrases you guys note are straight out of Dilbert.

Pretty sweet that the feature on the Men's Basketball page is a Wichita State player.

Can't be power playing championship football at home sites and championship hoops with no attendance...no matter how good a PowerPoint

I hate stuff like this:

"Encourage Student Athlete Advisory Committee representatives to develop and present ideas for Conference-wide initiatives that address the particular desires, concerns, and needs of their student-athlete peers."

That's literally what SAAC's are. So a goal of the conference is to define SAAC's to their SAAC's?

The Pac-12 plays their championship football game at home sites. All the power conferences do pretty well filling up the conference tournaments, though (other than the SEC when Kentucky loses early).

Ah, I see that the Pac-12 actually started playing the championship game at the 49ers new stadium a few years ago.

But I DO think playing it at one of the participants' homes beats the hell out of this (though the ACC has cleaned it up a bit of late...mostly because the right teams have been in it):

I really don't give a shit.

I can't knock a league for collectively wanting to make itself better, but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of a specific action plan on how to do that. Just a bunch of generic goals. But...whatever.

I do think that the addition of Wichita State does make the league better, but it's not going to be in the same category as the Power 5 unless it earns autonomy, which it probably won't.

The AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC is kidding itself. In 2016, the league went 6-12 vs Power 5 schools with wins over a rogues gallery of schools like Kansas, NC State, Syracuse and Virginia. The only decent team that an AAAAAAAAAAAAC school beat was Oklahoma. Worse yet, In 2014-15, Houston gave $26 million to its athletic department, the seventh-highest subsidy in the nation, according to USA Today's most recent athletic revenue database. Subsidies accounted for 58 percent of Houston's athletic revenue; subsidies for public Big 12 schools ranged from zero to eight percent.

They have a lousy TV deal and draw nobody. Good luck making the money add up.
