Here's the thread for these as they start to appear. #19 according to TSN, but this ranking seems to rely on Trevon returning. 4 Big East teams ranked (usual suspects Xavier, Villanova, Butler and Creighton)

I was just questioning your spelling. It looked like an Eastern European tennis player. My wife of 32 years sleeps beside me on the couch, so I doubt I'll ever need an RX for your scrabble winner.

Arizona is an interesting case. I've see two rankings with Arizona #1, and two with Arizona outside the top ten. I assume that this reflects different thoughts on who will be staying and who will be leaving early.

Bingo. I understand WHY these polls are published, but it's truly impossible to do right now. They ranked UVA in the teens and they literally return like 4 players.

UC is going to be a hell of a lot better than #24. They lost an above average PG and a lousy shooting guard. They have a solid transfer PG coming in and a ton of talent returning. I see another 30 win season for them.

This one is definitely the outlier. Not just for Xavier, but for a number of teams. I like the enthusiasm, though!

Their transfer PG is unproven against actual competition. He padded his stats taking basically every shot for his crappy school against crappy opponents. If you look at the very few OOC games he played against bigger schools he was basically invisible. Troy was a pretty good PG in regards to assist/TO ratio and managing the game. The new guy looks like he turns the ball over a lot more than Troy ever did.

While that may be true, I don't think that outweighs the improvements of Cumberland, Evans, Washington, Clark, etc. If Tre comes back, next year could arguably be one of the best shootouts ever. I wouldn't say best talent on the floor during a shootout ever, but it would be at the top in terms of where both teams are collectively ranked

Interesting that our top-10 recruiting class is only graded a "B+". Louisville's top 10 class is rated an "A". Scout has us #8, Lville #10. Rivals has X #9, Lville #7.
Doesn't really matter but found it funny that at top-10 recruiting class doesn't earn an "A" rating.

I can't tell if my pessimism is taking over or if these national writers are just not following what's going on. I hate that my projection of 2% chance he returns has rose to 5% chance he returns over the course of a week.

The main takeaway from all of these polls is that there are no consensus top teams. Some teams who are top 5 in one poll aren't even top 10 in others. Each poll has a different number 1. Indicates to me that the field will be wide open next season especially if the freshman class ends up being a little weaker than normal as is being predicted.
The stars are aligning, we just need Tre to come back..

That's because it is USA Today just giving a subjective grade to the teams' recruiting classes, they aren't basing it off of any other class rankings. Louisville has a 5* and three 4*s. If you were to just take a glance at Xavier's recruiting class on rivals you would see two 4*s and three 3*s, which probably warrants a B+ grade. But that is just by taking a quick look to write an article.

Luckily, Mick Cronin will still coach them. That certainly limits their ceiling.

I know we were 75-1 on Bovada after making the sweet 16...put $3 on us, Michigan (cuz of the streak/plane and all) and UNC...turned a $6 profit!

We were 75-1 after making Sweet 16, and 80-1 against the entire field? That seems a bit odd.

I think that was because when it was down to 16, our path had to go through Arizona and Gonzaga (both had very good odds versus the field to win it all) and had to do with the remaining strong teams in the field (i.e. UNC, Kansas, Oregon, etc.).
