We Got Jobbed By The Refs In The Arizona Game.

Now that we won, I would like to comment on the replays. You see Tre going for a bucket, and multiple hands on him. I think they raped us tonight and the refs let them do it. And don't dare touch one of their big men when they come into the lane.

Check out Sean's last bucket, he had three guys converge on him while he shot that bucket, and the biggest guy flat out landed on his shoulders. He was fouled by 2 guys on the same play and still made the bucket. But no call.

Every time they cut to the tape of one of our buckets I got outraged. Where was the foul?

If we lost and I complained about 8 on 5 that would be sour grapes. But the fact of the matter is that we won, and the refs still sucked.

And guess what, they did.

I think there were a few times we didn't get the call. One on a blatant body when Gates got a rebound (that we almost let slip out of bounds). Couple other times Tre got fouled on way to hoop where defender appeared straight up but arms were coming down which is 99% going to be a call.

Gotta be honest, I really didn't see it as an unfair skew and for what it's worth they got more fouls than us. I'll always be an advocate for let them play. Especially in the closing minutes.

Trier traveled on one of his drives to the basket down the stretch. It didn't get called.
The very next possession he drives again and O'Mara drags his forearm across Trier's head. It didn't get called.

More often than not these things work themselves out. (Unless it involves a clock in Indianapolis of course.)

The only egregious call last night was the charge call against Bluiett. Besides that, I have no complaints.

As bad as officiating has been all year, this is when you're going to complain about it?

Editing to agree with you on Q's travel and the BS charge on Bluiett. That charge was a pretty big swing and Zona went on their run after it. But outside of those 2 calls, you didn't even notice the refs were there. And that's a good thing.

Exactly. And it's human nature to focus only on the ones that went the other side's way. It was a well officiated game.

I thought in terms of letting them play it out the refs were fine, however, for a Sweet 16 game there were certainly some bizarre calls. Remember, refs are human and I am sure they know when they make a mistake. I feel like they blow a call on one end and make up for it on the other. It happens, there were no Northwestern goal tending level calls here.

Side note, I was pretty buzzed but what were the double techs for? Macura got away with a bump on Trier, though I am less sure if he was just gassed or if it was chippyness.

The JP thing was incidental. Or at least as incidental as any contact initiated by JP (which is to say not entirely...)

I too have no idea what happened on the double techs. I'm guessing they didn't have cameras on it. But it's my understanding they were warned at the TV timeout immediately before. So I'm guessing there were some extracurriculars heading into the timeout and that the refs felt they didn't sufficiently cool down afterward.

40 minutes from the Final 4. Gonzaga is beatable if Xavier plays like they did against FSU. Much rather play the Zags then UNC, UK Kansas or UCLA.
