...do I have a motion to approve?

Down 48-52 with Trevon Bluiett on the bench, regain lead.

Down 61-69 with 3:45 left, clutch 3s by Trevon Bluiett and Malcolm Bernard, go-ahead bucket by Sean O'Mara, insane defensive possessions.

Win 73-71. Elite Eight. Next - Final Four.

This is beyond awesome fellow Musketeers. If you couldn't be in San Jose to truly enjoy this moment then around campus was the place to be. Screw Michigan...we are the team of destiny.

After sleeping an hour or two, the first thing I thought of this morning was that game. I was lucky enough to be at the huge X over UC game when UC was #1. I remember the exact place I was at as a kid and watching Hill, Strong, Walker and those guys beat Georgetown to advance to the Sweet 16. This game seems to have earned X a bunch of respect that's long overdue. So many big wins in Xavier basketball.

Ya think? I'd say almost every Xavier and Arizona fans first thought in the morning would be the game..

My first reaction was that it could very well be the greatest game of all time. It takes some time and distance to truly judge such things. Regardless it was one for the ages.

The BDubs in Rookwood flat out erupted. That place was a madhouse.

A part of me couldn't believe that really just happened. After the year we had, and starting this month on Senior Night against Marquette. It just blew my mind. We just did that. Zona is talented and well coached. The played a great game imho. We just took it. One for the ages indeed. I am still grinning.

If you're feeling down, go watch an XU game at BDubs in HP with fellow Muskie fans. Lots of group hugs after last night's victory.

I'll see you on Saturday.

I have had the rare privilege of being at the two giant Crosstown Shootout wins at UC, the New Year's Eve win over Creighton, the takedowns of St Joe and Dayton in Dayton.......and then this.

Apples and oranges. All great wins, in different ways. I will say that personally it was the most exhilarating live sports moment of a lifetime.

3rd best win in my eyes. Georgetown hands down #1 for our first Sweet Sixteen. Beating Texas to make our first Elite 8 would be second for me.

When Xavier beat Loyola Marymount Lions in double or triple overtime back in 1990 was a great game to watch and be at. Georgetown win was great. Last night was epic.

I thought about this this morning.

The two greatest runs in Xavier basketball history have come after two of the most depressing games ever- games where a Xavier basketball team abjectly quit on the court. 2004 at George Washington, a game where I unfortunately attended, and this year's Senior Night vs Marquette. The catalyst to get the team going in 2004 was Lionel Chalmers and in 2017 arguably Malcolm Bernard in a Players Only meeting.

I'm not sure which is more impressive. 2004 we were only 10-9 and going nowhere..until Lionel made a step back jumper at Cintas to win the SucKS game. 2017 we were down to having to win vs Butler in MSG with face planted firmly against the f-ing brick wall.

All I know is that there is no way I cannot ever be proud of Xavier University and it's basketball program. Damn what a 35 years it's been since our NCAA Tourney game vs Alcorn State on March 15, 1983 under Bob Staak. Only the second one in school history.

The Georgetown win put this program on the map, and showed everyone that this was a program on the rise. Getting to the Elite 8 the first 2 times was fantastic, but we kind of knew each time we had a very talented team and a run was possible (especially after the 04 team dismantled St. Joe's and the rest of the A-10). But even the most die hard among us really didn't expect this. We hoped they'd keep it close but to win against an immensely talented team and a great coach with this short-handed team was only something we wished for. However, this team - and this coach - did something incredible.

Most important win:
I have to go with the Georgetown win putting us in the sweet 16. Our bigs outplayed their 2 future NBA stars. That's when we made our bones. That's when we became a relevant program.

Wildest Win:
Loyola Marymount at the Gardens. We beat them at their game. My neck still hurts. 112-110? 116-114?

Proudest Win:
Last night.

Coolest win:
Hopefully, Saturday when we crack our first final four

That Texas team was low key loaded too. Had 4 legit solid big men. And throw in Mouton, PJ Tucker, and Ivey. They had a lot of veterans and X took it to em. That was a big statement in my mind.

I wouldn't say last night was their best win of all time, but definitely up there. I think there's something to be said by the fact that it was against Sean. Not just because he left and everything. But more of how long has X been the stepping stone for coaches and always been on that level of good, but not elite. And the fact that they went through him with a chance to get to the Final 4 before he does, really says a lot about how far the program has come

all day I have been humming the CBS March madness theme and remember last month when it the Foxsports theme. I never thought on March 25 they would be playing the CBS theme for Xavier. I was at MSG 2 weeks ago when X trailed Depaul at the half of a game that if lost would have meant NIT>

As I recall, it was Texas who beat us after the Georgetown win. so it was sweet revenge to beat the Longhorns a few years later to get to our first Elite 8.Didn't their coach, Rick Barnes, have to leave in shame after a 2nd technical near the end of that game?

I recall one of the players saying that the Texas players were talking sh#@ before the game that X couldn't win because of the name Texas on the Jersey. I vaguely remember Sato (I think) holding out the Xavier name on the front of his jersey in the biggest "F U" manner to the Texas team.

That is correct. Just like he left Clemson in shame when he realized he wasn't going to be competing with Duke or North Carolina for the foreseeable future back then.

A few years later? It was 14 years of torture not getting back to the second weekend. That is a big reason I cherish these return trips so much. It was not always this way, much heartbreak along the way.

It's kind of crazy to think that in 2004 prior to the start of the A10 Tournament no one was really even projecting Xavier into the field, and seeing where we ended up AFTER beating Butler on a neutral floor, we may not have made this field either if it weren't for that win.

I can't really rank the big wins. If anything I think I'd have to throw the Mississippi State game from 2004 in there because they entered the tournament with just three losses, were #5 overall on the seed list, and I think a lot of people at the time were thinking "Well, this was a great turnround!" and were ready to feel completely satisfied had we not won that game. I remember distinctly thinking that team was better than Texas, and after we won that it was to the point to where we were expecting to beat Texas.

Last night was the second time we've beaten a #2 seed, and again it was the the top overall #2 seed, and a team that we've since learned that some of the committee members wanted on the #1 line after they won they finished with the best record in the Pac Twelve after the tournament was over, won the tournament, and beat two top ten teams away from home in about a 24 hour span. This was also a team that didn't lose many (if any) games when they had all their players.

The thing about calling last night the biggest win ever is that I don't want to say that the other games weren't big wins, but the more I think about (even while typing this) the more I think it was. In 2004 we were in the midst of being red hot when the tournament started, and everyone felt we could beat highly ranked teams since we had just blown one out of the building the previous week. In 2017, no one was really complaining or feeling slighted with the #11 seed. I don't recall anyone saying they felt it should have been better. I think people liked the first game against Maryland and felt if we could win that one that it would be great considering how we had really hit the skids, but I think that's as far as anyone was really expecting to go. Had anyone said that Xavier would be in the Elite Eight eight days ago, everyone on this board (well, almost everyone) would have ridiculed that person as being a blowhard with blue tainted glasses. We beat no one but DePaul for the last five weeks of the season prior to narrowly beating Butler.

Biggest win ever?? Maybe. Biggest SURPRISE ever?? I think so. It's actually rather preposterous. Even the other #11 seeds who have made the Elite Eight were teams that were legitimately good, but seeded on the #11 line due to a lack of quality wins because they had so few opportunities to play quality teams (George Mason, VCU, etc). Not to say those weren't surprises, but I do think that this at least as surprising, if not moreso, than any of those.

And another thing... #11 seeds have actually faired rather well in the Elite Eight in recent years.

I bro hugged Muskie when I ran into him in our lobby this morning. I do not think he expected or welcomed it, but it was elite.
