Even though he played well last year, I was skeptical about his ability. Most everyone was not- and they are proving to be right. He is playing great.

This board is quick to hang guys out to dry and write guys off. Me included. We should be praising guys when they prove us all wrong. Well done Sean! He's playing with confidence and sense of purpose! Our team is so much better when we have a big playing well!!

I have killed O'Mara in the past but he has been great for the last few weeks and a big reason that we're still playing.

He flat out saved the game for them with his monster 1st half. Without him X is down by 10-12 at the half and the complexion of the second half would have been totally different.
Up the Irish!

Sean was awesome in New York and......"If you can make it there.......You'll make it Anywhere!!!"
Great performance under the bright lights last night. Another example of Xavier development. Sounded great on the post game press conference last night too!

Big guy played football.
Now he's the next Kenny Freese.
Five more games, baby.
Yikes Mel, that's a low bar.

If he plays like Kenny in Kenny's last tourney run, I'll take it. As for Sean's development, like Farr, it may have just taken a bit longer for the lights to come on given his limited basketball background before X.

It was different with Sean, because he showed so much promise. Rough start this year, but he's now showing the true Sean, and the timing couldn't be better! We need to play big and deep against the Gigantors of FSU !

My hope, as a fellow tall man, is that Sean has finally gotten comfortable with his body / body type. It's a funny thing that you don't understand unless you are a tall person -- but watching Sean this season, he hasn't looked comfortable in his own skin.

Agreed.
As far as what Sean has said during interviews and post games press conferences, I've been blown away. He sounds like a veteran coach who's always comfortably prepared with a well though out response. Maybe he took some notes while watching Matt.
As far as his play, Sean is putting it all together at a perfect time. I am proud of our Sean O.

That pass to Trevon when he was doing the backdoor cut was a thing of beauty. O'Mara has some great vision! I've found myself complimenting him more and more every single game.

Is Sean the backup backup point guard? His passing last night was astounding. Matt Stainbrook and David West approve.

That's the way I remember that starting.
Sean played his worst ball at X early this season, worse than his freshman game. He is now playing his very best game ever. I just re-watched that game, and he was much better than it even seemed live. The full game, especially the passing, was terrific. Just an amazing bounce back to what he really is! GO SEAN! GO X!

Looks pretty relaxed and seems to know his role now. His pass game has picked up dramatically for sure, and the 3 footers are falling.

He's also benefitting a little from not playing teams who know his game well -- feels like the BE figured out that his first post move is usually to back down into his man, and he's picked up a lot of cheap turnovers from people flopping on first contact.

Great article. We have seen Good Sean and Bad Sean at times this season. In the tournament we have seen Great Sean. I love seeing it come together like that for him, and for us!

Get ready to hear non stop about how we cant match up with Gonzaga's big dude!

You'd think they would have learned their lesson after making that comment and being wrong twice in a row.
Gonzaga will be the 3rd biggest team we play against in the tournament (behind FSU and Arizona).

Huge hat tip to coaches for drawing up and players for executing Sean O'Mara for the winning basket.
My biggest pet peeve is abandoning all offense in end of game situations. Forget running anything on offense that got you here. Give the ball to one guy to dribble around until he has to rush a terrible shot. Especially jacking a bad three in a tie game when all you need is ONE POINT to win.
I love that Xavier actually ran a play, love the play they ran and LOVE that The Quiet Man got the game winning basket to go to the Elite Eight.

He really has had the James Farr growth program this year huh? Very underrated piece to our offense, his touch around the rim has been incredible, and he's really come into his own this season, and I can't state enough how awesome our bigs have been. Coming into the season I thought they would be a question mark, but the growth between him and Tyrique, especially on FT's and the pleasant surprise of Kanter have really pulled us along and made us a much better team.

Yes!!!
Plus, all of our bigs move differently and have different skill sets, subbing one in for another seems to cause problems for opponents. It's really fun to watch this key part of the team's success in action.

What an amazing move against a pretty good big man in his own right.
I remember saying, "Wow, where did that come from?" It seems that Big Irish is still improving his game.
Watch out Villanova, the rest of the Big East and NCAA!
Here comes BIG IRISH!!!
