If Fred Glass' handling of the NIT home game situation is a preview of what's to come in the event of a coaching search, IU is going to continue to be a running joke.

The way Glass explained it today basically made it seem like two weeks ago they had to decide: 1) do we want to participate in the NIT if invited? 2) do we want to host a game if qualified? How you can answer yes to #1 and no to #2 short of a major renovation (which obviously is not true as AH just underwent a massive one last year) is beyond me. God help IU.

Clemson has endured what was perhaps the most frustrating season that any team has ever gone through. It's over now. They're out of their misery.

That would imply that Clemson fans have expectations in basketball. They could care less that they sold their souls for the football title this year.

The same might be said about FSU, a possible....never mind. No jinx here. My sports freak son spent 5 years there (Masters, not party delayed), and said he was one of the only people he knew who went to a game, and that was just a couple his senior year. They do NOT care, and I don't know how they recruit. (FSU hotties was suggested, but I don't think that's the same as Louisville.)

For what it's worth, IU is hosting a women's NIT game on Thursday. I guess spring break was cut short just like the IU men's NIT run tonight in Atlanta.

Love watching Crean lose. The guy is an asshat.

Can't lie. If FSU offered and I had to choose between X and FSU based on women (assuming I have no pre-existing X-based fanaticism, which I do have) it's kind of a no-brainer. Plus, it's Florida.
Saying that, if I had had D1 ability and X offered to me, I would have signed as soon as possible. Can't imagine actually playing for the team I grew up loving so much.

The underdogs were 6-2 in the first round, with the biggest upset #8 CSU Bakersfield beating #1 California.
Now, if Greensboro can just beat Syracuse.

In California's defense, they were without two of their better players.

I was under the impression that Florida State sold out every game from Duke on. Like a lot of places, basketball is more of a restaurant than a religion. If it's good, then it's rammed full and everyone wants to be there, but if it's not no one really cares and people just stop going. I think a lot of so-called "football schools" are like that about basketball, and a lot of "basketball schools" are like that about football.
But, having said that, I can't seem to find their attendance figures.

If you really want to find that answer, you can look at each game summary on ESPN under the schedule/score results for FSU.
I looked at the first home game after their Duke win (which wasn't sold out). It was against ND.
Attendance: 10,535, 84% of 12,500 capacity

Rabb and Byrd were out, Rabb is a 1st round pick and Byrd is very good.

Did they get hurt in the Pac-12 tournament or just decide not to play?

I thought that first round NIT games were played at the better seed's site.
If so, why did Indiana go to Georgia Tech?

IU's home court may have been unavailable. UK played @ Robert Morris one year in the NIT.

Their students were unavailable due to spring break. I'm hearing from IU fans that it would have avoided a very nasty crowd towards Tom Crean right about now.

The smaller conferences are doing well.

So far they're showing up in the only Tournament that matters. At least for a half. And apparently that's enough.
