I'm in, guaranteed.
I'm leaning heavily that way, probably 90% certain. Need to look at details. It was easier when I lived in Sarasota! (And better, but that's another story.)

Curious about details on tickets, where people are staying, etc. I'll probably be coming alone from Atlanta.

Hoping the game is after 3pm as I am taking Friday off and will be glued to tv all Thursday.
Do we know for sure we play Thursday? Ticketmaster has tix from $150-270 for all sessions. $270 isn't great seats, so how are the others sold? Should I go thru X? Used to go there a TON for AAU, but always stayed out near Disney. Interested in hotel recommendations if anyone has them.

How incredibly convenient! Good for you!
What time do the early games start on Thursday? Trying to figure out if I can drive in that morning, or if it's better to come in Wednesday. It looks like it's much cheaper to stay out by the resorts or the airport and Uber into town. Anything reasonable downtown would be my preference. What's the best way to acquire tickets? I'd like to be in an X section rather than some random spot as I'll be coming in alone.

I used to live about a mile from here and had numerous meetings and events there. Pretty nice place but if I was going by myself for a few days, I'd opt for the Extended Stay across the street at half the price and hang out at the Sheraton's bar. http://www.antobarorlando.com/ Whole damn bar was shipped in from Ireland. Usually set up tents in the parking lot for St. Paddy's Day. There's also plenty of lower price motels in Altamonte Springs (the next exit on I-4). The Embassy Suites there are situated in a park -like setting with about anything you could want to eat or drink (almost everything brand new) within a mile around it. Daytona Beach is just 45 mins. from this exit.
I could make it down to the Magic game in 10-15 minutes if the traffic cooperated. Nowadays, I would Uber or Lyft.
For beer runs there is a 7-11 at the intersection on the left. Nice Dinner Out? Sam Snead's a block from the Sheraton.

The Amway Center is almost new and gorgeous. You will love it, but expect to pay absurd prices for almost anything in the area surrounding it.

I have two all-session tickets in the Xavier section that I sadly can no longer use. We made it to Orlando for both pre-season tournaments, but someone else will have to sit beside Luke Murray's Dad this time. Send me a private message if interested in purchasing them.

What are people doing for hotels? More importantly, how are you handling cancelation policies if (God forbid) we lose Thursday night. Through Expedia I locked up a room at a Dumpy Best Western that happens to be near the arena, and relatively cheap ($124/night). I still have a couple days to cancel for free. I called them and got some lady who is apparently new to the english language. She said I had to call the hotel for that. The guy at the hotel was clearly upset with me for booking through expedia ("that's what you get!") and said the penalty was up to Expedia since it's their reservation. I asked if rooms were still available, and if so, I'd book one if the cancelation policy was acceptable, then cancel with Expedia. He told me he was busy with a full lobby and I should call the reservations people in Arizona for that. So I called Arizona, only to be told the hotels are independently owned and the cancelation policy varies by location (and apparently whim).
So, at this point screw them. I'd like to cancel and start over. Where are people staying, and what do you know about the cancelation policy? HELP!

As mentioned above, I wouldn't stay downtown. Check Altamonte Springs on Trivago. Plenty of good places to stay and they won't be affected by the NCAA hype that far from the Center (about 8-10 miles, easy drive down I-4.) The Hawthorne Suites are relatively new and next door to a Steakhouse. You should have no problem booking for one night and then booking for the next night or going to another hotel. Disney area will be all booked up due to spring break, so I would avoid. Also, Arnie Palmer's Bay Hill Tournament is this weekend.
Avoid tantalizing rates on LEE RD. Not a good area, mostly welfare rooms.
To save the wasted time and frustration I just went through, here's my plan: book two reservations. One for the first 2 nights(Wed/Thuirs), then a second reservation for Friday/Saturday. I'll have until 4:00 Fri to cancel the second with no penalty.
I know there are much nicer areas, and can continue to look around for a better option. The team hotel was minimum of $289/night and I'm less than half of that ($124/night, but you get what you pay for). The team hotel is checking to see who gets the group rate, what that rate is and will get back to me. I don't plan on doing anything other than sleeping in the room, so I'm not going to be picky. I plan to Uber around for the most part so I like the idea of being close to the arena and Church Street Station. We used to be frequent Orlando visitors when we lived in Sarasota, as much for AAU hoops as the parks. We're going to Denver and Vail next week, and this was an unexpected expense. I'll "suffer through it" on a budget, and a couple wins! At least tha's the plan for now.... If I find good prices out that way, I may change AGAIN.

I looked that up, and thought I'd made some mistake! Saw webcams of people skiing in Vail. So it wasn't little known (and non-existent to my knowledge) Denver, FL. But I assumed some error on my part.

Same here. We were on the tarmac in Chicago on our flight to Orlando when they made the announcement. Hell yeah the 95 Fam will be in the house tonight.

I'll be heading back to Church Street Station (around Ferg's and a three minute walk to Amway) to be near the action.....and do exactly that. I can't remember the last time I closed a bar. Not that it hasn't happened, just that I can't remember....

I'm not there, but I'd think tomorrow will be tough to find what you're looking for. Florida and FSU aren't exactly die hard basketball fanbases, but with BOTH of them playing in tomorrow's session, I'd expect tickets to be a bit tight. At least for lower level.

Good point on FSU and UF being present, but the scalpers were everywhere lining the sidewalks. One guy started at $60 and was down to $20 by the time I walked away. No telling what the weekend may bring in terms of buyers.

We were outnumbered down there, 4 to one, maybe worse, by the FSU fan base. We all hoped that the U Florida fans in attendance would help cheer us on, they really weren't any help. But our small crew of overly enthusiastic fans rocked that building, we were loud and proud from the opening tip. Funniest sight of the evening, Tyrique's mom smacking her husband to get him up out of his seat during the second half run! Very proud to have been a part of the bunch.

Job well done. At one point I heard the tomahawk chomp chant start to eminate from the stands. But Xavier Nation drowned that out quick with a "let's go X" chant of our own. You, and the rest of our fans who were in Florida represented our program well.

That bet was amazing! It had been about 5 years since I was there last and it wasn't there then. Whoever thought that bet up better have gotten a nice promotion.
By the way, many more Xavier fans out there this year. And many more people were on the Xavier train as well. Living in Cincy you don't really see what the rest of the country thinks of our team and most everyone thought highly of our team. The only downside was a crazy lady from UCLA who kept yelling "Xavier, bitches" after every basket.
This makes two times in a row that I've been there when X went to the sweet 16. I'm willing to take one for the program and go out again next season.

Glad you found it and liked it! Really is the best bet out there, so much intensity right off the bat in every game. I think 2 16 seeds got to 15 points first this year too. The bet is only at certain books though, not everyone has them which is crazy to me.
