I think we can do it, I think we can make the final again. If we play with spark, passion, and lock down on defense again, there's no reason we can't beat Creighton again.

American, are you in NY? Lucky, I came out west after I graduated and would love to see this Tourney but first I am heading back to Cincy for a game. Enjoy the trip if you are, I say we win if Trevon/Malcom/Q aren't already gassed.

He would have been closer if they had not taken 1.5 seconds off the clock before he touched the ball.

Before the legend of this clock malfunction gets out of hand, it looked closer to about 0.3 or 0.4 to me. I only saw the replay when they showed it at the end, so I could be wrong, but it was a very very small amount of time. JP also took his shot with about 2 seconds left and there was a lot of space between him and the guy guarding him. He had time to get a little closer.

Now could that malfunction have made a difference in the end result? Sure, it could have. But I don't think it's worth losing sleep over.

Speculation is a solid 11, I.e. No play in game.

I think they will be a 10 or 11 but whoever they play probably won't be happy. Xavier is playing really well right now and I doubt they will face a team that shoots the 3 like some of the teams in the Big East. I am just looking forward to a game against someone not in the big east. In the last 15 games Xavier played 11 games against teams who will be in the NCAA tournament.

Great effort. What a difference a week makes. So many here were ready to jump off a led....I mean throw this team off a ledge just a week ago. Proud of the hear the team showed. Whenever they got down and could have folded, they came back tough and strong. By no means is this team perfect (OBVIOUSLY), but they made us proud this week.

One question: As Bluiett made the game tying three, JP and a Creighton player went down on the baseline right in front of the ref. It looked like a no call, until JP seemed to be trying to get up and the guy just fell on top of him again...completely taking him out of the final play. Anyone else see it? What did I miss? It was at the edge of the tv screen....and the camera moved away quickly, but looked totally bush league. I could be way off. JP could have tripped him...I don't know. Looked bad though.

Might not be bad loss in the long run. I would be good with a 10 seed. We probably would have got smacked by Nova.

Agreed. Avoid the 8/9 at least.

That was a fun game. X fought hard the whole way. The team that went to New York was a totally different squad from that 6 game skid. I'm excited about the dance.

So close! X played one of their best games for a long time since Ed got injured. A big "Thank You" to our guys. Please rest well and get ready for the Dance.

Here. Here.

Rest up and keep the momentum and mojo going.

Heart breaker. JP should got a little closer and that been good.

Damn it to get the tie 3 then to give it up......great game but hurts.

After 3 games in 3 days, Bluiett and Macura were GASSED and X almost tied.

Senior leadership?? Gaston? Hello! Wake up buddy! O'Mara can't replace you.

Agreed, but think we've played better. We need more from Bernard, Gates, and Gaston

"Agreed, but think we've played better. We need more from Bernard, Gates, and Gaston"
Most underrated quote of the year.
Senior Gaston needs to lead the entire front court and average a double double or X loses in tourney.

Macura and Bluiett are back and cocky good.
Goodin is better but a little wild with his shot selection.

WAKE UP SENIORS!

I think Bernards play of late has been great. (Maybe not great last night- but he did hit two monster FT's late in the game after not shooting most of the half) His D has been much better, some big time steals and rebounds also. I have really liked what I have seen out of him to close out the season. O'mara can replace Gaston just fine.

Gaston just pulled down 6 rebounds in 12 minutes. He was moderately efficient with the touches he got too. O'Mara and Jones just had good games too. You have to remember that he's still part of a center-by-committee rotation, and overall, O'Mara has played really well recently.

I'm not worried about the guy who was one of the only bright spots in that six-game losing streak.

I think Patton is a bad matchup for Gaston. But regardless of that, we really only need one center to be playing well.

Man, Creighton fans are being a bunch of arrogant pricks on Twitter. Might be creeping up on Butler in terms of my most hated BE team.

At least Butler has something to be arrogant about. Has Creighton ever been to the Sweet 16?

I think Justin Patton is a bad matchup for human beings. If Creighton did not have half a dozen guys who never miss threes, he could score every trip.

I actually met Greg McDermott a couple of years ago during the BET. They were staying at my usual hotel in NYC (Affinia Manhattan). It was after both teams had won and I walked into the bar with requisite X attire. He gave me some good nature ribbing then bought me a drink. Wound up drinking with he and his assistants for a good hour or so. Then they went out for more (after 2 AM). Couldn't hang and went to bed. He was a nice guy though. Very down to earth. And very tall.

I wasn't trying to rag on either Bernard or Gaston. They've both been good recently and bernard has been great, but both were a little off last night. Knowing what they are capable of, we could've definitely played better.

He was pretty overmatched by Patton offensively. I know he had lingering concussion problems, but it would've been nice to see more Tyrique. Tyrique owns Patton.

It's disappointing to lose like that for sure, and I do agree with we could have came out a little better. Let's hope we're locked in come NCAA time, maybe an extra day of rest will be good for us since we're a little shorter than expected. Sucks to lose, but we're in the tournament, let's see what happens next week right?

Although Patton is a solid offensive player and blocks a lot of shots off the ball he also has some big weaknesses. He's a very poor rebounder for a 7' center and he is not a great defender against his man. He was effective last night because their hot 3 pt shooting kept X from using any help defense against him. Xavier handled him in previous games. Last night Q started scoring against him when he took the ball straight at him.

Not much else you can say after a classic like that.

I'll pile on. Creighton fans were great. Much respect. Of course, it's easy to say when you win, but they were cool before, during, and after. Didn't have really any run-ins with fans...probably because Butler fans were scarce.

In reality, where in the F were Butler fans?

I get that NO ONE from Chicago who is a DePaul fan would come and plan for paying for a full package of session tickets. They are a guarantee to be One and Done. But Futler was supposed to be a contender who would have a high probability of playing Saturday, yet their turnout vs us was pathetic. I thought that they were so "passionate".

I guess their "passion" doesn't extend outside of the barn door.....or maybe their garbage clock didn't tell them what time it was?

Yeah. I'm glad Villanova won last year, but they are becoming a little bit insufferable. Add to that- most of them are from Philadelphia....or Filthydelphia as I call it. People are naturally arrogant in that garbage town.

Every team (including Xavier) has great fans and also those who act, well ... less than great. Our individual perspectives are framed by which we encounter. And for sure, those who judge an entire fan base by how they are represented by Internet message board prose are likely going to be soured. The shelter of anonymity behind a keyboard produces more bravery and bravado than a few Rusty Nails in the tavern.

I love talking college hoops with the locals when I travel. And every X game I've attended outside of Cincinnati has been an awesome experience. Some of the fans have been over-the-top courteous and others have just been normal people talking "in-game crap" in the heat of battle just like we do. In other words, we're all the same.

That said, I still believe 97.6% of all Dayton fans are delusional.

It took this past weekend for me to realize what Xavier fans remind me of.

Xavier fans remind me of the stalwarts still going strong at the end of a day-long St. Patrick's Day celebration........with a few sober, uptight, pretentious know-it-alls explaining everything we know and think is wrong.
