So CBS Sports tweeted out in honor for March Madness starting of quoting their tweet with the most random player you guys can remember throughout past tournaments/seasons.

In honor of this, I figured it would be cool to see what you guys come up with an why. I'll start with two:

1. Kevin Pittsnogle - Being a WVU fan growing up and watching that team with him, Beilein, Gansey, etc. was so much fun to watch, they were basically the Golden State Warriors pulling threes from everywhere and watching this big 6'10 monstrosity shooting threes at the time was a lot of fun. Last I heard he's a middle school teacher in West Virginia or something.

2. Ali Faroukmanesh - Goodness that Northern Iowa team was fun to watch huh? I still remember his clutch corner 3 against Kansas in the tournament, and just remembering "Goodness gracious the balls on this guy." Plus he probably had the most fun name of all time to pronounce.

Alan Ogg, UAB. What's an Ogg? is a sign I remember from a game at the Gardens back in the late 80's. I think Bartow was the coach then. I think Ogg died young in his 40's.

Andre Battle was another guy. Didn't get all the hype playing next to Alfredrick Hughes at Loyola, Chicago, but he was a really good scorer and made them really dangerous.

I remember him because he missed the free throw at the end of the NCAA game which would have given WVU a 1 point lead of X.

Think you're mixing him up with All-NBA bust and fellow awkward looking white guy Joe Alexander.

Darn Archbold - Butler 1988-1992 Mo Brantley knocked the sh!t out of him.
Jess Settles - Iowa !993-1999 Yes you read that timeline correctly. Played three games in the 96-97 season before back injuries led to medical redshirt, than redhirt 97-98, and got sixth year of eligibilty and played in 98-99.
Elliott Perry - Memphis (When they were still Memphis State) 1987-1991. Huge bug eye goggles and knee high socks. Went on to a decent journeyman career in the NBA.

You're right. Joe Alexander was the 81% free throw shooter who missed the free throw at the end.

Thank you Joe for giving us so many memories.

My apologies to Pittsnoogle.

Kwame Evans & Nimbo Hammons on that "Yinka Dare" GWU team. They were Killers, loved them

Didn't that Ace Custis lead VT teams have two white dudes named the Jackson Brothers - reminded me of the Hanson

Chris Westlake Wisconsin GB I believe - looked like a dude who just flew in from Breckinridge on the slopes, then preceded to run of picks and hit 3 all day, then back to the lodge for some Alaskan Thunder Bud and a few bevies.

Parrish Casebier. Played for Evansville back in the MCC days. Outside of Baskerville Holmes, quite possibly the best basketball name.
Dallas Comegys. I think he played for DePaul for the entire decade of the 80's.
Brian Cardinal, aka Kneepads.

For regular season play, the most obscure "one hit wonder" I can remember is Jeff "Big Deli" Salovski, UMass 2004-05. He only averaged 2.9 points a game that season, but when he played X the 6-11 "325lb" center was an unstoppable force. He went for 21 points/9 rebounds as UMass hung a road loss on X 90-86. Unbelievable. He left UMass after that season, transferred to Sacred Heart then got booted off the team before he even played another game.

I was going to say Cardinal as well. Dude looked 40 at 20. He's had a pretty decent NBA career.

He played 5-6 years in the NBA. Used to play him when I tried to beat the computer using an all Spurs bench line-up in lakers vs celtics on the Genessis console.

I made that sign. I was in the locker room after the previous game and one of X's reserve big men was repeatedly asking an assistant "Do I get to be the 7-footer?" He did and he must have done a good job in practice because Ogg didn't do crap in the game.

I tend to remember players that fell through the cracks that Xavier could have gotten.

Vin Baker of Hartford

There was also a player, a seven footer, who a coach found at a grocery store stocking shelves . Can't think of his name right now.

Is Vin Baker the cat that ate himself out of the NBA?
