Thought he deserved his own thread.
Last 3 games rebounding the ball:
9, 8, 9
Lots were clamoring for him to step up especially in this department and he has big time. He got all the big rebounds at the end of the game today.
Kudos, Kaiser.

It's known I have been his biggest criticizer in this area. Glad to see he has finally stepped up here. I don't think Its any coincidence that his improvement here has coincided with 3 wins

just as the expectations were too high for him to begin the year, the news of his demise had been greatly exaggerated as well
Not only that, but seeing him put the ball on the floor and attack the rim makes my heart warm. He can create so many mismatches with his all around skill set. Love what he can do!

Love the rebounding more than anything. He needed to bring more than just being a weapon from 3 pt range.

Yes, that and the rebound at the end were HUGE! It seems that Kaiser, like most players, does way better when he just reacts and doesn't "overthink" it. Keep it up Kaiser!

I don't think he was overthinking. Like most big men who can shoot I think he was just enamoured with hitting 3's and forgot his body says he should bang inside. Hopefully he is at the point where he remembered that and what we're seeing is only the beginning of a guy who can start getting double doubles

That play got me up off the couch and scared the dog. Man, we need a lot more of that.

I said that before the season started. He has the most NBA ready body but still has much to learn

"Potential" is a blessing, and a curse. He may well develop along the lines of so many other power forward type players that X has had over the last 30 years or so. He certainly has the potential to do so, and he is expanding and improving his skill set. His shot isn't exactly a thing of beauty, but it often goes in and it has been somewhat consistent over the last two years. He is now starting to drive to the basket and get layups or fouls. He is now becoming very good at rebounding and is learning to fight down low for them. But he still is an adventure at the free thrown line sometimes, he isn't especially quick or fluid and sometimes looks stiff when handling the ball, and he still needs to develop a postup game to use against smaller defenders. He's got a lot of potential, he has worked to develop it, and I hope that he continues to improve. IF he does, I think he can really have a bright future and will be a big part of X's success the rest of this year and beyond.

Reminds me a little of BJ Raymond.

He's always reminded me of Josh Duncan. Big, strong guy who early on felt most comfortable floating along the perimeter. Good outside shot. As he got older, figured out how to move inside and become a rebounding force and how to take it to the rack.

It took Duncan about 3 1/2 years to start feeling comfortable playing inside. It looks like Gates is starting to get it his sophomore year.

I don't really recall gates ever trying to get post position and back someone up....unless you are just talking about rebounding?

Duncan was also built like no other college b-ball player. I can see Kaiser and Duncan being similar from a mentality standpoint; but not size.

Kaiser is shooting 35% from 3. Keep shooting, big man.

Besides the fact that Kaiser is rebounding so well, I also like that he is making some attempt the last few games to take the ball to the basket rather than just shooting threes.

Yeah, and I don't expect him to mix it up the post any time soon. Getting rebounds is great, but otherwise he helps the team more as a perimeter player taking threes and sometimes driving to the basket.

Yeah he doesn't need to have a back to the basket post game. Although the Josh Duncan comparisons got me giddy if he could be like that as a senior. But he can definitely be effective as a slasher and offensive rebounder which he has been of late and what this team needs.

That being the case, can you start posting that Goodin needs to shoot free throws better?
