Next game is against Divine Providence. Here's to hoping Mr Jones is completely Unchained for another double-double and another Victory on the Parkway.
Title of the thread is great. It is a tribute to #0, now #4 who has faithfully bled Xavier blue during 4 years of growth as a continually improving (unchaining) basketball player. Should he somehow help get us to a Final 4 & someday get his number retired - would he go in as #0 or #4. Anybody trying to make this thread about anything other than a tribute to Tyrique should have their comments deleted & possibly kicked off the forum. Stick to the thread XU fans. Cheers to Tyrique Jones - another XU legend in the making.

Appropriate name for this thread:

Young person plays exceptionally well without making his opponents feel bad after waiting his turn behind others at the position assigned to him by his leaders.

Racist.

I might be out of the loop but did Tyrique ever tell his reason of changing from #0- to #4?

I want to go on the record of saying that Mr Jones is not and never has been a racist. That is all

Racist.

Dang it. Position he chose and decides when to display his talents???

All I know is I kept yelling “Tyrique Unchained” on every big rebound.

Thanks. If not for your yelling, Jones would be well below Nate Turner as a post player. Because of this encouragement Jones is the best big man rebounder since Tyrone Hill. He doesn’t have the offense of Grant, West, Hill or Strong but he is the all time best rebounder.

Tyrique represents everything I love about Xavier basketball. Not a highly rated recruit, works hard, stays 4 years, and pours his heart out senior year. I donÂ’t care if X ever even reaches a final 4, as long as we have the hope of that, because guys like Tyrique bring that every year. Tyrique you will go down as another Xavier treasure. Now keep it going and enjoy this ride. You are driving.

This is the kind of spark that had been missing most of the year. Leave it to our senior big man to light a fire under this team.

Tyrique Jones = MAN

Amen! He is as good as they get! I am proud to be a Xavier grad and be able to call Tyrique a fellow Xavier Grad (soon). He and others like him are what make Xavier special. A team leader is what has been missing and now we have it.

College basketball is so great.. I was at Yale-Dartmouth last night (Yale very good..equal to UConn) and watched X- Providence on app. Tyrique has turned it on both on and off the court and I am a Q supporter (aware of both of their strengths and limitations). The next 2 months are the best time in sports and boy am I desperate for news from April to November. Congratulation to Tyrique and he has hurt Naj and Carter's numbers by getting seemingly every rebound(but they don't mind)

Per 247, Tyrique was ranked 105 nationally and also had offers from Florida State, Kansas State, Minnesota, UC, and UConn, among others. That said, I agree with the rest of your post (except for the final four part).

As of 2-11-20 Mr Jones is tied for 3rd in the USA in Double Doubles. He is 3rd in Off Rebounds per game & 1st in Total Off Rebounds for the year.
He is #8 in Total Rebounds per game.

I would think that 16 double doubles would be more impressive with the competition that Xavier plays than the 20 against the competition that William and Mary plays. Xavier's strength of schedule was 22 verses William and Mary 176.

Agree on W & M guy, but John Mooney has 19 & plays for Notre Dame in the ACC.

ACC is usually good but this year, it is very substandard. ACC might get 3-4 teams in at most. 14 teams in the league are not as good as B10 and BE. .

BE will not be as great next year.
Ty is extremely impressive.

Anyone remember Kevin Jones at West Virginia ? Early 2010ish range?

Kevin shot more from the outside than Tyrique but they remind me of each other. Beasts.

Was reading this thread and yes I'm bumping myself, because it's starting to feel like the Kevin Jones run. Pure domination in a conference where the "stars" typically get the media spotlight.
