I feel absolutely sick for Ed. I hope that is only a hyperextension.

I would be shocked but I hope so too.
Ugh. Feel for him.

I'm just hoping it's not as bad as it looked. Please!
Praying for Ed. Disappointing but they bounce back these days.
You get well too Muskie!

I will say a prayer. A very impressive special on Edmund on the Big East show about his academics. This was a gut it out performance and Goodin was very good but I would love to see him learn under Edmund, nor replace him

Updates folks I'm dying here. I just thought he landed on his knee cap didn't realize you guys think he may have hyperextended it

He didn't bang it, it bent in a way God did not intend. I've seen freaky things in the past that turned out were not awful, but this was not a good look.
I hate to guess, but will venture MCL is best case.

You wont hear anything until tomorrow or Tuesday for sure
He hyperextended it after landing from a lay up
Did not look good at all.
I just saw a quick slo-mo look before turning my head. I'm not sure if it went backwards or sideways?

Man any type of tear is bad. This is why you can't blame kids for leaving early. Hope is fine and if not he is young and will bounce back and have a long future in the pros eventually. But maybe it's nothing to be concerned about

This would be awesome. But that was initial report for Mo Watson too. No way to know for sure until imaging is completed.

Very true, but they are pretty damn good at initial testing. I tried to question the trainer when my son tore his ACL and MCL, hoping it wasn't true. He shut me down immediately, and he was 100% correct. Hoping for some good news for a change. Still feel sorry for Watson, that was horribly unfortunate.

Yeah. It's usually a lot more accurate though when ruling in an injury than ruling out if that makes sense.
The tears aren't always so obvious when testing the knee. The give isn't always really obvious but when it is there's no doubt about the tears.

No, that makes perfectly good sense, and you know far more about this. Fingers crossed! March is when it counts, baby!

I had such high hopes for this season, and so far it feels so much like middle school drama with these guys. It's time to step up and go on a roll! Always sumthin'...

If it's just a hyperextension is anyone knowledgeable enough to speculate on a recovery timeline?

Bluitt did a great job stepping in to help handle the ball under pressure after Ed went out.

He did, and you can generally trust him at the FT line (key at end of game), but ......WOW. I hope we have not lost our 2 top preseason ball handlers. Have high hopes Ed isn't serious, and Q keeps up the good work. Still - high hopes for the future.

This internet doctor(clearly reliable) says if it's only a sprain, it would be 2-4 weeks

I would be surprised if it's an ACL or MCL injury. It looked like a hyper-extension to me. Sometimes the worst-looking injuries are the least damaging.

He was a leader down the stretch for sure. Tre showed a lot today. He's been playing great ball.

I have a different experience.. played college football and buckled my knee. Trainers did their thing said it's fine and I was on about 12-16 Advil a day with stem and ice all season. After the season I went to my own doc... he saw me for 2 seconds and said schedule for surgery your ACL is gone. Point being I don't trust trainers... wait for the imaging

I just saw the replay and man that looked awful to me. If it's just a hyper extension he is a lucky man. But doesn't matter what any of us say or think. The MRI will tell all in a few hours. I really wish Xavier would join UCMC. As a MRI Tech I would be happy to get this young man an MRI at anytime of the day.

Ed is the Muskie's version of Tyler Eiffert-super talent but snake bit.Let's hope for the best.I have confidence in Goodin but who backs him up?

I mean if I can recall in what - 45+ games he's missed 4? When a 230 pound dude literally landed on his head.....
He gets banged up but the really plays through it. Eifert has missed how many games in 4 seasons?

Sumner also missed his entire true freshman year other than the first couple of games.

If that's just a hyperextension, he's Gumby. That bent back really far.

I mean, that really isn't an inaccurate description of Ed.
Screw jumping off two feet, it's the landings he needs to stick with both.

This tweet says Sumner is to have ACL surgery and is done for the year, although I've seen nothing confirming it yet from reputable sources: https://twitter.com/brownmj22/status/826150835398782976

That is what I am hearing as well...mostly from Butler fans like the tweet you linked. They can march on, the twats are practically giddy to hear of a Xavier injury. Butler way and all that I guess.

Coming from Butler fan....whose previous tweets ripped Xavier's front court. Just wait for something reputable to come out
