Have to be in Chicago this week for work. Any watch parties in the greater Chicago area. I think my hotel is in Naperville.

Somehow the Wichita viewing party got left off the list again this year. Dammit! Everyone's welcome at my house. I'll buy the bourbon (since I'm pretty sure Paul moved here after Clemson won the football national title).

You will have a serious hike from Naperville to Merkle's in Wrigleyville. Naperville itself has a nice little downtown with several places where you could watch the game. Former Chicagoland chapter president and National Alumni Association president WCWIII resides in Naperville. He may be able to provide additional guidance.

Where exactly is your hotel?

I've been visiting your place while you were at work. So, your wife is not responsible for the drop in bourbon supply.
Otherwise, I left town for Kiawah so I didn't have to listen to the Clempson crap.

That's a very impressive list of locations! I'm planning to attend in ATL.

I just got a free ticket. Never been to a shootout at UC. Should I expect better/worse/similar treatment to the degenerate jack@sses when I went to a game @ UDump? I will be in a box so I imagine that will tame it down other than walking in/out of the arena.

Good luck.

If someone paid me $100 and gave me tix to a UC game at UC vs. X, I would not go. I find the place horrible for my belief system...lol.

I am 3-1 watching the shootout at the Shoe including Lenny Brown's takedown of #1 and never had any problems with the fans. Don't act like an idiot and no one will bother you.

We almost had to call the cops sitting at the bar, minding our own business having dinner at Arthurs. I happened to have some X gear on after a game. Apparently offensive to the drunken UC A-hole next to us. His wife had to take charge and get his ass out before we finished the 911 call. (Asked the barkeep to intervene, but disappointed in that response.) He was a regular who lived within walking distance, but not in a straight line that night. Yes, I know that's an anomaly, but I'm in my 50's and haven't been even CLOSE to a fight since high school. It sticks out in my mind.

Actually the Hyatt in Lisle, had a feeling Naperville would have better options.

Would be happy to take the Ballyhoohoo to Merkle's for the Chicago Chapter game watch. Should be a good crowd this year! I'll send you a PM.

By the way, I have a personal goal to make DePaul's last game in the Allstate arena a home game for Xavier. Come to Chicago March 4!

You simply can't do better than enjoying a drink and a game with WCWIII. Can't be done. He's also a hell of a darts partner. True story.

Naperville is a hike unfortunately. It would be like an hour drive into the city AFTER the game. But unless you can head into town around noon don't bother. It'll take double that any time in the later afternoon/early evening. I'll be at Merkle's for it, I know of a couple others as well

Last Shootout I went to at 5/3rd was 2010-2011 when X had 8 guys and Feeney had to play. It sucked just because X got smacked and Tu couldn't buy a bucket. It honestly wasn't as bad as I expected with the fans. Always going to run into a couple bad ones, but I would say UD losers are far worse. LOL actually randomly played a couple UD fans in my Chicago Euchre league last week, and they tried to tell me X is scared to schedule em. They conveniently forgot the beat down in Orlando last year. People are delusional

I live two towns east of Lisle. If you have a car you can hop right on 88 to 290 and be to Merkle's in about 45 min to an hour (even with it being rush hour). I would think you'd want to leave at 4.30 or so to get there for the game (since it starts at 6 CST). WCWIII can fill you in on all the details, if he hasn't already. Hope you can make it down!

I'm going to my first shootout at UC as well. I remember how much I hated sitting next to some UC fans last year, so I thought I'd return the favor. I'm sure it's going to be hostile, but everybody was well-behaved at Cintas in my section and I'm hoping for the same tomorrow. Of course, if we win, it might get a little ugly...

I know it well. It was our wedding hotel. Lady X is from Naperville so we were married at Saints Peter & Paul and our reception was down the road from the Hyatt. Let me know if they ever repaired the damage.

A sound strategy if you have the Jetson's car. I would advise a much greater time buffer. The Eisenhower can consume your life's dreams and ambitions whole.

I didn't do any of the planning this year, but in recent years past, Merkle's has put out a Cincinnati chili bar featuring my recipe (http://www.runtoo.org/chili/chili.html). It's been very cool to have a bar right next to Wrigley Field where you can go in and see some X stuff up on the wall. I did send ballyhoohoo a PM offering to pick him up by 4 for that 45-60 min drive. Glad it looks like a couple others from the board will be in attendance tomorrow night (XUPUCK10!) and the facebook event response looks pretty decent too. Go X!
