Villanova played Creighton and Butler on the road.....Marquette at home and now us at home. Pretty brutal too.

Probably address it to the guy that delivers the big bag of money from FS1 to Cintas Center each year.

who cares, most teams in the conference probably have a stretch similar to that at some point

yeah it is a tough stretch of games, but when you play in a good conference that is going to happen. Complaining about it is dumb.

I'd address it to the same person who allowed us to start off the year playing 3 bottom half of the league teams to get to 3-0 and first place all by our lonesomes.

My point is why have the top 4 teams beat each other up the first 2 weeks of the season. Spread it our over the month of January.

When do they make the schedule? Was it already known at that time who the top 4 teams were?

I'm with Lloyd. I don't think anyone saw Creighton and Butler being this good or Georgetown being this bad.

I thought Butler was picked 5th or 6th by the coaches too... if this is the tough part then we should be able to point to a "soft" part.

Butler literally just played vs Nova, @Gtown, @Creighton Weds, then vs X

We're all going through the same thing. X just doesn't have the one lesser game in between

Welcome to an elite conference.

YES. I will take this brutal stretch over ANY combination of A-10 teams that could have been mustered in any year, ever. THIS is what I wanted. To play in a conference where ALMOST every game is difficult because the teams are nationally relevant and capable of winning in the tourney.

Yes, X might go 0-3, but RPI won't suffer AND if X wins one or two or all of these then all bets are off. This is opportunity knocking like it NEVER would before the Big East. I like it.

Could be 3 W's. What a feat that would be.

Honestly I think 3-0 and 0-3 are just as likely as each other.

the question is what is more likely, 1-2 or 2-1. I lean towards 1-2, but I think both the Butler and Creighton games are toss ups.

It wasn't that empty. There were at least 30 of us clad in blue snuggles in attendance and I thought they damn near filled the gym. But then again the brutal walk from the hotel made the exact details of the game a little fuzzy. Especially after all these years!

Based purely on the fact that we play 2 on the road and 1 at home, I agree.

I was just looking at some of the Sagarin and Pomeroy rankings last night. Gonzaga aside, a few years removed from conference realigment now... If you're not in the P5 or the BE, you're basically screwed. Go look at some of the programs that are floundering now. X worked very hard and did a great job with the program over many years, but also got extremely fortunate.

I graduated in 1967. I have been a season ticket holder since 1983. I am thrilled to be in the Big East. Who would have thunk it? So we have a tough stretch (don't forget UC is not far off too) but you play each team home and away so you have to play them sometime. If you are the best you beat the best. We will see how good we are.

Can you imagine being Depaul? You have to play the schedule we do, except you get a top 15 team twice instead of a 175-200 team twice. We get 3 top 15 matchups in a row. I've dreamed of a schedule like this. I don't know what could be more exciting in conference.

My hometown Shockers are doing fine, too. But that's pretty much the list. Though I'd include the AAC in list of conferences where you can be just fine.

The AAC does look like maybe a 3 bid conference this year. Beats juan bid for sure. Don't sense much excitement for the conference though.

"Miss" isn't the right word for me, but I can recognize that it was basically the perfect conference for us for a long time and we would still be very successful had we not made the switch.

But there's almost nothing negative you can say about the BE from a basketball perspective. One of my favorite aspects: 10 teams means true round robin play. The true and fair way to determine a regular season champion.

Or keeping the coach we have... or upgrading the Cintas center like we are... or travelling on charter flights... or have nationally televised games for every tilt. It's absolutely amazing. If you want to complain about a stretch like these next three games then you may be taking a page out of YTG's playbook... remember when he used to say something to the effect of "well we play in the Big East so we don't need to schedule (tough) games in the non-conference." Well, we're now in the Big East and Butler has replaced the Syracuse's of the world and Creighton has replaced the UConn's of the world (from an RPI standpoint). I love it. Yeah it's brutal but it's a tremendous opportunity. Let's grab it, embrace it and then rip it's eyes out!!! LET'S GO X!!!!!

I haven't lived near Cincinnati since 1998, and I haven't had a problem finding a Xavier game on TV in years (other than this year's Colorado game - DAMN YOU DirecTV!!!!).

Losing at Villanova hurts about as much as winning against Fordham, La Salle, and Duquesne typically helps. Which is to say, not at all.

When you lose a game that a #1 seed probably wouldn't win most of the time, your NCAA Tournament profile is pretty much not getting dinged. So, yes, I would like to thank the Big East for allowing us to play games where we literally have everything to gain and virtually nothing to lose.

Not sure it really matters much but I think there's some reaches here. The level of player we're landing in recruiting hasn't changed that much. Scruggs is by some metrics the best recruit we've signed but it's really just him in recent years and he's not WAY higher ranked than, say, Dez Wells (or even Justin Martin or Kenny Frease) was. Most games have been nationally televised for years and would almost certainly be in the A-10. Sure, upgrading the Cintas Center is impressive, but not nearly as much as building it in the first place, which occurred in the A-10 (can you believe the place is 17 years old?!?). Our NCAA record of success was stronger under the A-10 (so far). Yes, Mack has stayed, but there's personal elements that have made that so that are not attributable to the conference.

As I said in my original post, the BE is great, obviously. All I ever said was that the A-10 was great for us too.
