OK, I'm flying in for my annual game on Friday, Jan 6. Where do I go to kill an hour or three while I wait for my buddy to pick me up. I get in around 4:00pm and my plan was to get a taxi into town, have a few beverages and wait till he's free. Any suggestions?

Give this address to the Uber driver and your buddy: 1832 Dana Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45207

Ask for BJ. Tell him I sent you.

I am the only one who is shocked and awed by the Redmen's short game shorts vs Creighton? Seriously 70s levels. Trend? Wretched excess?

Saving that for game day (pre and post). I'll probably just wait at Arthurs since it's towards my buddies house. Trying to hit all the familiar haunts in just a few days is tough....

They're shorter than most but the trend is going towards short or non-baggy shorts. Our large shorts are more of a problem caused by Nike and not our guys.

Have you been to Taft's Ale House yet? If you haven't I can't recommend it enough. And if you have been there, I still can't recommend it enough.

Having watched some STJ games, I am impressed with the quickness of their 2 freshman guards and they both can really score but undersized. No concern for us or any of the top teams in the BE. They look like a pair of nice A10 guards.

Ponds was ranked around 50th, had offers from half of the Big East and schools from the other major conferences. He's no A10 player.

Yup. Lovett was also a consensus top 100 player. These guys are both talented enough that NBADraft.net found it worthwhile to make profiles for them.

Totally different players. Gates will never be a post player nor should he be. He is a stretch four and will float around the 3 point line way more than he'll be in the lane and I have zero problem with that. Hes still working to get fully into sync, but he's probably a top 3 shooter on the team

Yep. Farr was simply a massive human being. That set him up well to transition to playing in the post. Gates is built entirely differently from him. Also, I'm not going to tell a guy to stop looking for three-point shots when he is currently 40% on the season after recovering from a knee scope.

I normally don't even bother reading nasdadjr posts as hes off base roughly 90% of the time it seems. Thought Id correct him today though

If we keep shooting less than 60% from the charity stripe, we're going to lose some BE games we should win. That can't continue.

Yeah I think SJ's guards will be ok given what Watson's doing for Creighton. Its not the size of He man but the size of the heart. This conference this season will be battle after battle. Good game for us. Good shooting, good D in general, and solid contributions from our bench. A little dissapointed at Gaston and Sean today but being in constant foul trouble probably hampered their aggressiveness

The johnies missed 38 shots...they had a lot more chances for offensive revounds than X did. They hit quite a few 3 pointers when X was up by 25 in the 2nd half, but those were mostly because of one-on-one plays by their two guards and not because of any team defensive breakdowns by X. X went on some nice runs in both the 1st and 2nd halfs that were predicated by defensive shutdowns of the johnies "offense". 16 turnovers by St. John's and X got 10 steals and 3 blocks. The score doesn't always give the full story on how well a team does or doesn't play defense.

Yeah, X had a number of defensive kills (3+ stops in a row) and there were long periods where SJU couldn't get a field goal. Their stars just started hitting some tough shots when the game was already over.

He'll likely be startin by the end of this season unless they continue to prefer to go small. I think our best starting lineup would be Sumner, Macura, Bluiett, Gates, and Gaston.

I like him coming off the bench this year. Our starting lineup is solid and he gives us a nice scoring pop off the bench and a different look to the offense. Good sixth man, like JP was last year.
