I was wondering where the Xavier section might be.

Any suggestions for the best Pizza in DC?

Game is at 11:00. Will places even be open for a pre-game bevy?

I am not very experienced when it comes to DC. Been there a couple of times.

Staying at a friends condo with my family. KFX is in Scotland for the Holidays and graciously gave me his pad.

I think we are in Cleveland Park. He said it is a great area.

Gonna being taking the Metro to and fro places. Any suggestions on things to do with the wife and kids would be awesome.

Cheers.

Sections 115 - 118 are X sections. I'm currently sitting at Capitol City Brewing having happy hour beers.

Try the free tour at The Society of The Cincinnati near DuPont Circle (DuPont Circle stop on the Red Line.). Of course the Mall is free, and the Air and Space Museum is the gem. The Vietnam Vet Memorial is a must see. Nearby the Korean and WWII Memorials not quite as evocative, but still good.

Cleveland Park is great. It's a short walk to the National Zoo. Everybody loves pandas.

Those damn pandas hide like Sasquatch in the summer. They should add some A/C to the viewable area.

Take this with a grain of salt because although I lived in DC for 10 years (including Cleveland Park), it was a long time ago. But there used to be a great pizza place on the east side of Conn. Ave. just north of Calvert Street. There was also the Calvert Café on Calvert with middle eastern food and a belly dancer. I also recommend getting down to the Dupont Circle area (Red Line on Metro) for all kinds of eating and But there are a lot of great bars on Penn. Ave. on Capitol Hill just southeast of the Capitol. And for a great family museum, try the Air and Space Museum and if you go there, be sure to see "To Fly" on the Omnimax screen. It's still running and is one of the best films ever made for that format.

I'll be in section 213 with 15 or so other xavier fans.

Clydes is the pregame bar and it opens at 10. It is adjacent to the Verizon center on the northwest side of the arena.

Mount Vernon is phenomenal especially with kids your age, although it requires a car ride.

And not everybody loves pandas. Pandas are jerks.

I, unfortunately, cannot attend, but the "Artist Formerly Known As DC Muskie" will be there. I suggest a post game libation, or ten, at the Iron Horse Tap Room- just down the street from Verizon Center.

Is that the same Clyde's that used to be on Capitol Hill?

You gotta go in the morning. They're always outside then. Plus, there's way less snot noses then.

I don't know the Bradley Center, but the Verizon Center is really big. It's a hockey arena and frequently these arenas close off the upper deck for basketball games. When Xavier plays there, though, the allotted fan tickets are in that upper deck, looking down on so many empty lower bowl seats.

The Bradley Center is slightly bigger than Cintas, but the Verizon Center is on steroids. I was there once when it was called the MCI Center, but I will never speak of that game again.

There is an amazing deep dish pizza place down the street from the Verizon Center called Pi Pizzeria. It started in St. Louis and I believe just opened up a place in Cincy, so if you can't make it on this trip, go to another location! I highly recommend it.

I'll also be at the game, but don't have tickets yet. I guess I should get on that...

Thanks. Knew it was a hockey arena as well. Just wondering how "empty" it will look?

At least Seton Hall has the decency to only open the lower deck for their games. Their sellouts involve crowds of just over 10,000 fans - that's all you really need for a college game. Outside of games against Villanova and Syracuse, Georgetown should just swallow their pride and put tarps on the upper deck for their games.

Boy do I feel old. The only CLyde's I know is (was?) in Georgetown.

Great brunch. Outstanding eggs benedict and screwdrivers.

Yup. And hell, I don't even know if Villanova justifies the upper deck being open.

Um, 19000 capacity @ Bradley is more than slightly larger than the Tas.

Verizon concession prices are steeper than MSG, and the hockey arena permanent plan means more than half the basketball seats are beyond the baselines.

Remember, "Hoya Saxa" means "these rock(head)s" in Greek....

More seats Emp, but square footage at the Bradley Center is VERY compact (especially by NBA standards). That was one reason that Adam Silver said it was a substandard NBA arena when he visited there in 2013. They do have a new arena under construction that will be ready for the Bucks and Marquette in 2 seasons.

Not as old as I feel. I remembered Clyde's as a Capitol Hill bar, when it was in fact a G'town bar (as you correctly recall). Even worse, I used to hang in that bar a fair amount when I was single and living on Tunlaw in Glover Park.
