This is really terrific. (http://www.goxavier.com/news/2016/12/13/all-for-one-fund-xavier-athletics-announces-endowment-honoring-long-time-advocate-bill-daily.aspx)

XU managers do indeed make a standout contribution to the program and are deserving of the school's support.

And great to see that Bill Dailey will be honored on Saturday. Cheers for you, Dr. Dailey!

As the link points out:

Daily, who also served as assistant coach for the men's basketball team, is credited as the architect who designed a plan for Xavier Basketball to become a nationally-prominent basketball program. Daily's vision set the foundation for the program to reach its current stature.

There's great history at the link: Attention Must Be Paid to Such a Person!

"Mel" looks forward to contributing to the The Coach Daily Basketball Managers Endowment and hopes you will, too!

Congratulations all around!

"In 1978, as the University contemplated moving Athletics to Division III or potentially dropping varsity athletics all together"

Imagine how much different things would be had this happened. This board would not exist. Snipe would have to have found some other place to rant. Many might have chosen a different school. Who would be the object of Mick Cronin's whining?

Dayton would have won a game in Cincinnati more recently than 35 years ago.

Actually, didn't UD beat UK in Cincy some time in the past 35 years?

Yes. It was in 1999-2000, I think. They've also won at UC in the NIT one year.

They just can't win at Xavier - I don't know why that would upset them. Haven't they already moved on to dominating the Arch-Baron Cup?

Dayton also won a game or two in the A-10 Tournaments we hosted in Cincinnati.

The Xavier Managers beat the Wake Forest Managers last night 58-51.... Thereby earning their keep.

Our family really appreciates this, as my son will benefit from this next year.

Well after Dr Dailey retired he went on to be an asshole. I don't know if that's true but perhaps that is why he said was. :lmao:
