Yeah, I am in rural southern Ohio....definitely Trump heavy redneck country. Even if he loses, there will be zero issues here.
I predicted he is going down immediately after the debate...and nothing has changed. The "Never Trump" vote is just too significant.
There will be an angry MAGA response....but where and how? It is logical to think it will be in swing state capitals or DC again. The only question is how it gets organized.
Bad place for America.
Ya, I still feel like this is a 50/50 contest that will be drawn out weeks after the election on Tuesday. Both parties could have easily secured victory by choosing different candidates. I absolutely expect another stop the steal type of event or events from MAGA to be more intense than it was last election cycle. Trump will never admit defeat nomatter the loss and his base will support him to the ends of the Earth. Not sure what to expect from Democrats if they will start their own election interference protest if Trump wins. Maybe Obama, Bernie and Nancy will hold a rally on the southern border. Who knows.

My employer sent out a notice to employees to work from home today and tomorrow if our office is located in the city, and to maintain "situational awareness" at all times regardless of where we live. That is what our country has become. It was quite the eye-opener.
Lord please be with our country today and bless us with a free and fair election. You have a plan, and we know the results of this election are part of your plan. Help all Americans to respect the winner and remember that regardless of who wins, you are ultimately in charge. Please bring an end to, and complete reconciliation for - the hate and divisive rhetoric that has filled the airwaves during this campaign cycle. We are all humans created in your image, and we are all Americans. I ask for forgiveness for such rhetoric I spread. May the next President and all those elected today govern with your guiding hand for the good of our republic and for all Americans. May they protect the freedom that is given by you, and always act in a manner consistent with Jesus' teachings, for the entirety of their terms.

The momentum is obviously all with Harris as we come down to the wire, although they ticked back towards Trump just a bit in the last 24 hours.
Trump -147
Harris +127
Polymarket has Trump with a 57.9% chance to win as of this morning. You can see current odds and the trend here: https://polymarket.com/elections
Happy Election Day! Walked right up and voted with no line this morning. Deep red Republican territory, so good news for Democrats? Or just another example of structural racism with it being really easy for white folks to vote? You decide!
Final pre-polls closing morning check on the betting markets. I guess Trump is getting a Rogan endorsement bump, as he got a jolt in the betting markets in the last 24 hours. I'm mostly kidding about the Rogan endorsement bump, but his listeners might be more likely to be the type of person to participate in election wagering markets.
Trump -172
Harris +150
Polymarket has Trump with a 61.6% chance to win as of this morning. You can see current odds and the trend here: https://polymarket.com/elections

Harris +340 now. I really never dreamed we'd be in this position again with Trump staring the Presidency right in the nuts again. At least this time he has a transition team and is trying to be prepared. In 2016 he was clearly shocked he won and had no plan.
I see Harris +425. Trump's gains with black voters seems to be the key so far. Obviously, I know a lot of you don't want Trump to win, but it's kind of healthy for black voters to not all want to vote for the same party.

Trump has boasted in the past, during a 2005 segment of the Howard Stern show, about being able to view beauty contestants naked.
“I’ll go backstage before a show, and everyone’s getting dressed and ready and everything else,” he said, in a tape obtained by CNN. “And you know, no men are anywhere. And I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant. And therefore I’m inspecting it. ‘Is everyone OK?’ You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. If Dems spend the next two years blaming this election on racism, misogyny and transphobia, they'll even manage to miss out on what would inevitably be a big mid-term pickup in 2026 (as usually happens when one side gets too much power).
Then again, we probably won't have an election in 2026 since voters soundly rejected democracy last night.

Not to get too philosophical about this, but I think the Dems (like a lot of other things) main focus is to protect their own existence. To realize things have changed would mean they would also have to change, and in some cases they would have to be pushed aside, and they simply don't want that. The dinosaurs never want to just go away quietly.
I'm really bothered by all this. And, what bothers me even more is that I'm starting to realize there just aren't many people like me out there. I don't feel any differently about anything than I did yesterday. I don't like one side and hate the other. I'd like it to be where everyone just thinks of us being different shades of purple than all in on red or all in on blue, but no one else really feels that way. Even the bluest states have more than 1/3rd of its people voting for Team Red and vice versa.
Here's a major issue I have with Trump. How many of his former associates have been successful due to their association with him?? He had a successful TV program that I suppose was good for the network and the producers. Has there really been anything else?? When you look at a guy like Mark Cuban you see how he has helped make other people successful, and other businesses successful. When you look at Trump, who has he made successful?? What former associates are coming out to support him and saying he played a role in making their lives and their businesses better?? Where are these people?? A lot of his former businesses and projects didn't succeed. A lot of people who were invested in those businesses and projects lost their jobs. A lot of contractors he's worked with didn't get paid. It seems like the guy is incredibly radioactive. Even when he was last in office, just look at how many people that were in his orbit and under his direction either lost their jobs, or their money, or even their freedom. Yet, that's who we just elected. AGAIN!!
He lies, and he cheats, and he runs over anyone that's in his way even if they're on his team, and yet he continues to be rewarded for it. Yes! That bothers me! I think outside of his "fans" almost no one that's actually been associated with him has anything good to say about that association. His former vice president sure as hell doesn't. Shouldn't that tell people SOMETHING?? And, for the people that are his fans, I think he looks at them as nothing more than people who can elevate him to power and that he can grift money off of when he puts his name on stuff. Outside of that, he doesn't care about them. Most in his inner-circle have said flat out that he talks about how he doesn't even like them.
But, that's who we elected. Again. That's how it works. He won the popular vote, and he won/will win the electoral college. It was up to the Dems to stop him, which shouldn't have been hard to do at all, but they didn't. And a big reason why they didn't is because they somehow thought that lashing out against The Right would be a much more effective strategy than trying to win them over, and they continued to go off on half-cocked batshit ideas like how men can get pregnant and how terrorist organizations such as Hamas deserve our sympathy and support, and that Trump and his supporters were Nazis. And, people like that shouldn't be leading the country either.
I recently said that I felt Donald Trump belonged in prison...and I do. I also said that even though I felt that way, I also felt The Left deserved to lose to him and would lose to him. And, they did.
I'm sorry, but I just don't feel good about that. I don't see how anyone really could?? No one should really be happy about anything right now.

Do you feel that we've done either one of those things in the last two years?? Was it ever really about that for the leaders who pushed this through, or did they just use it to garner more political support for themselves??
I'm assuming many people who want to protect life don't realize that in 2023 there were more abortions carried out than (I think) there had been in any of the previous ten years. Now, you have to think it through, but it actually does makes some sense how turning over Roe v Wade seems to have protected neither women nor life like so many people thought it would. If someone truly is pro-life, and I believe that many people are, then the focus needs to be on just that. Lowering the number of abortions and doing more to help the mothers. Overturning Roe v Wade clearly did neither of those things...

The last sentence sums up how the left got completely crushed last night. The inability to recognize someone else's point of view, coupled with condescending snark is not a winning strategy. Instead of asking 'why', you go with 'how can you live with yourself'. This type of rhetoric and nose thumbing to 70 million Americans is exactly what created Donald Trump in the first place and continued to fuel his second rise to power.

People who voted "against the left" straight out say why they voted the way they did, and the message still doesn't get through. They can't understand why they people they thumb their noses at choose to vote against them.
Let me sum this up for those on The Left. They think you're crazy, and they don't like being talked down to. So, a guy like Trump that hits back as hard as he does is going to make them feel good. That's it. It's really that simple. If you want to know why so many people vote for Trump, that's why.
Now, does The Right understand why so many people vote against Trump??? The answer is equally as simple.

If somehow Haley pulls off the upset, then I’ll buy what you’re selling. Otherwise the dnc doesn’t have to go thru the hassle of what you are describing. I mean ffs Hilary would beat trump in a general right now, let alone Biden.
Considering that anywhere from 5 to 7 out of 10 haley supporters said they won't vote for trump in a general, I think the last thing the Biden Campaign is doing is trembling. Trump has to win over the independents/moderates in order to win the general. Hes not going to.
Hate to break it to you, but trump isn’t winning the election. I don’t want Biden to win it either, but he will. It’s very evident trump has his base and nothing else. Look at the two primary number, it will be the same across the whole nation.
I don’t think anyone is fooled but I still think he can win because he’s not trump. As you mentioned independents aren’t voting for trump. Trump will of course have his base but I’m not sure who else.

^^^^^Correct.
All the Dems really did was give people reasons to vote against them. It wasn't really just Kamala Harris. If anything she stayed a little too quiet. It was the rest of the leadership. I actually was starting to think that the Dems were going to win this election and do well on the down-ballot elections, but when they said Trump and his supporters were NAZIs because he held a rally at The Garden, I knew then it was pretty much over. It was both incredibly indecent and incredibly stupid. And then a few weeks later, let's just call them all garbage on top of that.
Had Kamala Harris come out and publicly rebuked those comments, I think she may have actually won. Even though those comments came from her "team," she still wins if she comes out and is critical. But, she didn't. And she lost. And she deserved to lose. And so did most of the rest of the party. The people that won actually scare me more, but it makes complete sense to me why they did win.

Oddly, women and minorities aren't a monolith. And most don't really think he was a sexual assaulter and think the felonies he was convicted of were lawfare bullshit.
Also, it was the Democrats' job to field a viable alternative to the alleged sexual assaulter and convicted felon. Biden was pretty mediocre back in 2020, but he would do. However, YOU ignored the evidence your eyes must have clearly been reporting to you about Biden's fitness for another term. Even after that trainwreck detate you were still claiming it was because of a stutter or some other nonsense. I mean, if we're truly to take the notiion that Trump is dangerous seriously, how could anyone think it was a good idea to put the doddering old man in Chief up as the Dem nominee? And then panic and replace him (without a vote) with a cackling empty suit who was an incredibly unpopular Vice President whose 2020 Presidential campaign was a complete disaster.
I'm sure you're going to continue smugly discredit the majority of Americans who decided that Trump was the better option for America. I doubt you'll do any self-reflection on the absolute shit show that is the Democratic Party and the fact that you spout their absurd talking points on here day after day after day.
Our country absolutely deserves better. But we were offered up two terrible choices, and we had to pick one of them. I'm disappointed that Republicans chose Trump to be their nominee over DeSantis and Haley, who I think would be much better Presidents. i'm disappointed that Democrats didn't even offer their party members the dignity of a choice as to who their nominee would be. Paul, have you ever considered that your definition of a reasonable answer is one that aligns with your world view? Maybe that's the reason you can't seem to find one. "Beats the alternative" is a perfectly reasonable answer to why Trump won in a landslide.

Biden's Chief of Staff said inflation wasn't real. They said crime was down. They said the border wasn't an issue.
Heading into next year’s presidential election, Republicans have been readying a three-pronged attack: crime soaring in cities, chaos raging at the southern border and prices spiralling out of control everywhere. But each of these narratives is being disrupted by facts on the ground: crime is falling in most parts of the country, there is relative calm at the border and inflation is at a two-year low.

Seems as if prosecuting a former President over created lawfare charges and running sham impeachments are kind of turning up the thermostat.
My own eyes and ears tell me that it wasn't manufactured. I will say this, of the four trials he was facing, the only one where he was actually prosecuted was by far the one that I gave the least of a shit about and felt was a waste of time given the gravity of the other three.

-Documents case thrown out
-Property fraud valuation case on appeal and judges expressed doubt in hearing. The charges were base on a “law” created out of whole cloth.
-“Rape” case had no collaboration- just like Kavanaugh’s.
No other state would have brought those charges
- Election Interference cases are all BS and dying.
Where are the 81 million “votes” in this election for Dems? About 14 million short of that.

I'm wondering if now is a good time to abolish the electoral college - and the filibuster while we're at it. Maybe Trump should add 10 more conservative justices to POTUS. Do you libs agree?
Ah hell, it doesn't matter, Trump is going to declare a dictatorship right after the bloodbath takes place.
I'm also thinking that Trump should declare 11/6 a national holiday - maybe replace 7/4 as the new independence day.

Paul and Bobbie,
Being staunch Democrats, what direction do you see the Democratic Party going leading up to the 2028 election? You would have to see the Democratic Party moving away from the Obama ideology after the basically getting curb stomped by MAGA this election cycle. Is it too soon to speculate because I was surprised how many defeats the Democrats had and how bad Harris lost to an unpopular candidate in Trump. Will be interesting to see how they try to rebuild their voting base that didn’t turn up this election cycle.

I very seriously doubt she would have tried to stop it.
This is a stupid and pointless exercise. Let's call the electoral college what it has really become, and that's an electoral point system. Trump won. That's it. Why go through this vote where all the votes are predetermined?? And why have congress spend an entire day counting them when everyone already knows what the final result will be?? It all just seems kind of dumb.

Those are old bud. May want to try some updated statistics. You may have missed it considering they tried to slide the changes in without anyone noticing them.
Plus the FBI? lol. That's a shitshow.
"The agency revised the violent crime rate between 2021 and 2022.
Previously, the figures showed a 2.1% fall over this period, now the agency says there was a 4.5% rise.
The FBI did not publicise this change, which has led to some criticism."
"Submitting data to the FBI is voluntary and in recent years some police forces have not done this.
But participation has steadily improved and in 2023 more than 85% of agencies enrolled in the FBI's data collection system submitted figures.
The FBI says every city agency covering a population of one million or more residents contributed a full 12 months of data in 2023.
Daniel Flannery, a professor specialising in violence prevention research, says that generally it is the smaller agencies that do not submit data.
“Many of them don’t have their own data people. Suburban and and rural communities tend to be the ones not submitting the data because they lack resources,” he says.

Do you really believe we will see term limits implemented by Trump? We have had 4 years of Trump and this wasnÂ’t accomplished. Maybe with having full control of the house and senate he can push this across and get rid of the career politicians like Pelosi and Graham. Maybe I have missed something but I donÂ’t remember him saying he would do this during any of his speeches which I could have easily missed. I would also be surprised if the Republican establishment wouldnÂ’t push back on him for it. I am fully on board with term limits but I am not holding my breath this will actually happen.

I agree, but I also think it's worth reading/listening to because it expresses how they feel right now. Right or wrong, this is how they feel. It's not good for so many people to feel like they've been cancelled because their preferred candidate didn't win the election, and it's very easy for me to understand why so many people feel that way. Had Harris won, it would have been the same feelings on the other side. No one should be told to "Eat Shit and Get out!"
Just to be clear, I don't agree with her take on why they lost. But, I do understand why she and so many others feel that way and I also understand how they feel they've been (or will be) cancelled.
Eight years ago The Left feared the country would not survive a Trump presidency. It did (albeit how he handled himself at the end of it was rather anti-American, but still. Biden won the election and Trump (reluctantly) left office).
Four years ago, The Right was told they didn't have a country anymore, and they believed it. Well, clearly that was false.
Now The Left is being told that this is the end of Democracy and they believe it just like The Right did four years ago.
It's not good for either side to have to fear that or feel that way. I wish we could all at least agree on that. The fact that we can't is really what bothers me more than anything else. It's not the only thing that bothers me, but it's probably what bothers me the most.

You lost because you live in your elitist bubble and look down on everyday Americans.

You lost because you find reasons to push people away. It’s no coincidence that the three of the people prominent on Trump’s team are all former Democrats. Hint: intolerance for others’ ideas is by definition, fascism.
In short, you lost because of YOU. It’s time to take accountability – I know that’s a new concept to you, but it’s time. Do some introspective soul searching. Do better.

I think there are many valid reasons, some noted above, why the Democrats lost.
They certainly didn't explain the successes of the last 4 years adequately, and didn't even appeal enough to their base to have them turn out in the same numbers as 2020.
I hope the new administration will not do a lot of the rather wild stuff they promise (not vaccine children?) and that we'll have a good 4 years.
At the same time, I believe that highly regarded individuals like Milley, Kelly, McCraven and Mike Pence have cautioned us as to the unfitness of the next president for office. We should heed that caution.

He's certainly backed up a little from earlier positions post election.
But think about what you are saying. You decide that you're not going to give your kid the polio vaccine.
It's not that your kid may suffer from getting polio...it's that it's highly contagious and as a result your neighbor's kid might end up in an iron lung because you chose not to vaccinate your kid.
Because of my age, I was in the first set of kids to get it in 1954 at my grade school in Chattanooga.
By 1979 polio was gone from the US.
We've eradicated polio almost world wide through the efforts of Gates Foundation and Rotary International.
But RFK wants to let us make a choice about getting the vaccine before sending our child to school.

Heres yet another case where you believe the lie. RFK has insisted hes not taking away vaccines, but wants to give people the choice. If people want to choose to be idiots and let their kids get polio, by all means be a moron.
I am very excited by what he wants to do to the nutrition in our food. Its been a long long long time coming. Why do so many people all of a sudden have such stomach issues and gluten allergies? The additives and pure crap in our food should have been addressed a long time ago.

Honestly, as I have gotten older, I’ve realized that medical professionals aren’t all that great. They were just really good at school. In the end, most are just bought and paid for actors that push whatever pharma sales rep tells them to. So, no I really don’t care.
I’d much rather have someone who has experience in sniffing out corruption, and he has a ton of experience in that.

Shots fired. Ouch. I think you’re mostly wrong though there are some that fall in this category, like any profession.
Haven’t been to this thread in what feels like decades but glad it’s still around lol (that’s a lie)
Real quick on vaccines- just because you get a vaccine doesn’t mean you generate immune response and are immune (this was in response to Smails comment that “if my kids are protected” - you don’t know unless you draw titers on everyone, which is costly and impractical). Thats why we have herd immunity to protect us from polio, etc… the rate of vaccine refusal is increasing the last couple years, as hesitancy is increasing with so much anti-vax propaganda circulating. The less people that vaccinate, the more likely it is that vaccinated individuals also contract a disease they were vaccinated against. The safety and efficacy of most vaccines is well studied for decades. It’s good to ask questions but if there is a baseline distrust in medical professionals your source of information to make a decision is already skewed. We shouldn’t have to go through kids getting polio again for everyone to realize that polio is really more terrible than the risk of a vaccine reaction.
Also of note is that many states (Ohio is one) that allow exemptions for vaccines based on philosophical reasons (along with medical and religious). It’s already a decision left to the states. Just like many other triggering healthcare topics. I think most would agree that our government is responsible for protecting us and promoting welfare whether you trust the government or not to execute that duty there are reasonable laws in place to make that process easier.
Carry on, may check back in 4 years again!

I understand, but you don't need to rub their noses in it. Being gracious in victory or defeat doesn't hurt.
This is absolutely not “rubbing noses” in anything. See Lou’s posts for that. This is honest but very pointed feedback that the Party has gone batshit crazy since I was a member until about 12 years ago. If you don’t see that may mean you too may need some introspection. Remember, I originally was voting for RFK Jr. He is the Dem I grew up with. And what did they do when he didn’t “toe the line”? They figuratively lynched him, just like they do to anyone who dares cross their narrative. The party of love and tolerance, ladies and gentlemen. And as Xville points out, they’ve only doubled down on their evil since Tuesday. Introspection needed badly.
It’s also clear you have not been degraded, slandered, ostracized and censored for your political beliefs like I have by these demons that call themselves Democrats. It makes civil and rational discourse impossible.
As to parties, I’m actually a lot of fun! You may have even attended a few I threw at X. Lol.

But former Trump administration officials have said the former president, when in office, initially refused to release federal disaster aid for wildfires in California in 2018, withheld wildfire assistance for Washington state in 2020, and severely restricted emergency relief to Puerto Rico in the wake of the devastating Hurricane Maria in 2017 because he felt these places were not sufficiently supportive of him.

When he visited the Journal recently, we asked about aliens who have been here for years, who might have U.S. citizen spouses and children. His response was that he wanted to help them.
“We have a lot of good people in this country, and we have to do something about it,” Mr. Trump said. “This has been going on for a long time. It’s a complicated subject.” He declined to specify whom he’d deport: “I don’t want to go too much into clarification, because the nicer I become, the more people that come over illegally.” Yet after stringent talk about deterrence, he ended with nuance: “There are some human questions that get in the way of being perfect, and we have to have the heart, too.”

There was so much voter fraud that Fox paid Dominion $787 million.

Rarely does Trump hire anyone that "works out." His track record is that he blames the people he hires for everything that goes wrong, criticizes them for being disloyal, and then fires them. So if you don't like who he's appointing, don't worry. Given his history most of them won't last two years anyway.

This is why we need forensic audits. The fact the Dems cheated in 2020 is absolutely irrefutable.
There were extensive forensic audits. That's how Dominion was able to prove in court what they were accused of was bullshit and win their case. It's also kind of a head-scratcher how the Dems managed to cheat in 2020 when they no control whatsoever of the executive branch, but didn't cheat at all in 2024 when they were actually in power and in a much better position to cheat if they chose to.

How is it that Harris received 71 million votes in an “Existential Crisis” election- fully 10 million LESS than Joe Biden “allegedly” received?
Meanwhile Trump received almost exactly the same amount as 2020, and will win the Popular Vote?
I’ll let you figure out what that might mean.
Yeah those aren't going to be the final numbers.. Kamala is probably going to end up around 74 million and Trump 77-78. I'll let you figure out that again you know very little about anything.
It's not hard to figure out...Moderates went to Trump this time as the lesser of two evils, just like they went to Biden in 2020. It's not rocket science.

You're such a condescending tool. Have you ever stopped to wonder why you're simultaneously engaged in multiple arguments, with multiple people, in multiple threads?

I'm not really sure what Trump is going with this Gaetz nom. Surely he's not getting confirmed. Gaetz immediately resigning from Congress is odd, too. Does this just give Gaetz cover to resign from the House and avoid the ethics investigation? Then he can get some pointless job in the administration once his nomination is eventually pulled?

If your speculation is correct, and it very well may be, I think I would actually tip my cap to these tactics!

Did you ever stop to think that maybe they are the “know it alls” and condescending tools or did you forget about his nil diatribe? There are maybe three people here that are continual problem children. Let the adults talk and stay out of it.
I call out bullshit when I see it. MOR just happens to propagate more of it than anyone else.
