Liberals:
If we could just jail Trump, get rid of MAGA American citizens, pack the Supreme Court, get rid of the Electoral College, ban voter ID always select our Candidates by committee rather than a free vote in Primaries and censor free speech we could save democracy.
Just repeating what Leftist Democrats preach.
You basically described what "Fundamentally Transform America" means for those who were confused. Just add Government run Healthcare and the Green New Deal.....progressive utopia at last.

Here is what annoys me the most about the dog/cat eating in Springfield, my understanding is that the catalyst for the story ended up being a woman in Canton who was actually arrested for it and has since plead insanity. Springfield authorities have denied it's an issue, law enforcement has denied it's an issue and has no open cases, but there are several alleged stories from locals which are are difficult to verify.
I have issue that Trump/Vance doubled down on the comments about it with all of the above information. Why couldn't they just say it was in Canton or state that the Springfield reports were from locals and not from authorities. Those statements should be vetted for truth first. Instead they push so hard with fiery rhetoric before truth can be determined.
I am not in Springfield so I don't know what the truth is, so I am not making any judgement (this is what adults do). Trump/Vance should do the same, but that reaction doesn't score points on the campaign trail.
Side note, what is going on with this alleged affidavit from an ABC whistleblower? I have read from dubious sources that have shown some kind affidavit with the name redacted. This feels like the kind illegal crap Donald Segretti was known for in the 70s to aid Nixon's re-election. On the other hand it could be true, but with the name redacted it's impossible to vet the thing.

How is that response anything other than childish? If it was so demonstrably true, you would have Springfield residents in the streets protesting and on the news declaring the emergency. They aren't. We do have Trump/Vance doubling and tripling down on the story. Another thing that is childish is the unwillingness to admit they might or are wrong.

Okay, I really don’t think most of the “normal” Left realized just how batshit crazy the Fringe Left is.
This is why a lot of people vote for Trump even though it’s Trump. They see this, and they think it’s what drives the party, and are (very understandably) just like….NOPE!

I'm not too worried about people like the cow rape guy. He doesn't have much influence. I'm way more concerned that grifters like Robin DiAngelo and Ibram Kendi are not just tolerated but have actually become powerful, influential people. Matt Walsh is a bit of a knob, but I do want to see his "Am I Racist?" flick. I've heard good things, and apparently he makes those two look foolish (which, frankly, shouldn't be a huge accomplishment, but I understand it's pretty funny).
At the end of the day, each person has to determine which set of grifters they hate less. Unfortunately, that's pretty much what it comes down to.

Is there a difference between Republican and Democrat family values? I have friends all over the political spectrum who think family values are a good thing. Republicans are definitely more preachy on these things but I think it's safe to say that both parties believe in family, honesty, fidelity and truth

CNN went down the rabbit hole pretty far to all but confirm it was him (Same user name/same email address/stories he posted contained personal information with dates that align with his life).
As far the porn he watches or likes, as long as it isn't child porn or illegal shit, could not care less. The more damning is the statements he wrote, such as calling himself a Black Nazi and that some people deserve to be slaves and that if they brought it back he would buy some. The fact that it was a porn site is just a funny wrinkle.

Not a big poll guy, but one caught my attention. Top 3 issues were:
1) Economy
2) Immigration
3) voting to oppose their opponent.
Obviously number 3 caught off guard. But after thinking about it, makes sense. The percent was 29%. If I had to guess, that percentage would be higher for people in this thread. Awesome times…

May I suggest not voting? We can’t change the extreme candidates on both side but maybe low voter turn out can show how fed up the American citizens are with the direction both political parties are heading. To be fair most of that about the bill is at best misleading or just flat out lies.
For example, the 5k to enter the country. That’s misleading. It’s 5k encounters, most of whom would be sent back across the border.
The ones about the foreign aid. Well that happened anyways. So dunno what the point is. 20.2 billion is better than zero.
It was a good bipartisan bill, until trump declared it wasn’t. One of the things I can’t stand about politicians and he’s one of the worst. They never want to fix a problem, they want to put bandaids on things so it’s still a problem that they can campaign and get reelected on.

There are millions upon millions of your fellow Americans that strongly believe this Administration is destroying your Country. They believe if Harris is elected the destruction will continue. She must be forced politically to own their immigration disaster. If she, and her party, could campaign on passing that last second bill....Trump would have no chance and the Dems likely control both Houses.
I can't believe that reality is not crystal clear for everyone.
This perfectly sums up the Republican Party under Trump, party over country. This bill would have helped Americans so we must destroy it because we would prefer campaign on the problem rather than trying to be part of the solution.

Most short sighted view ever. A Republican co authored the bill. Republicans could have said they were the ones that fixed the issue and dems just went along for the ride. Know why trump killed it? Because he literally has nothing else to do or say. His entire platform is immigration, he has no other bullets in the chamber… the entire debate was him mostly talking nonsense on the subject.

The bill was def not great, not even close. For one it didn't resolve the status of millions already living in the US. Another issue is the bill didn't discuss the stress putting on all these major cities... they and states (CA) are going flat out broke trying to support all these new citizens.

As I have stated many times, the bill was not perfect, and i don't think anyone was under the illusion that it was. However, it was better than what we have and a step in the right direction.
What really can be done about the people here now? That's a bit of a separate issue---and no Trump's grand plan of just rounding people up and sending them back from where they came from sounds nice, but in reality, that's going to take an obscene amount of money and never going to logistically work.
The dems and pubs have one thing in common, they just throw out bs that sounds good, but in reality would either be crippling from a dollar standpoint or logistically impossible. There are fair too many examples----college tuition wipeout, deporting all illegals, government run free healthcare...the list goes on and on.

It's both sides, pretty sure Booker shut down a vote on a revenge pron bill sponsored by Cruz so Cruz couldn't get a political win to campaign on.
One poster said to vote policy rather than candidate, that would put this at a vote between DEI BS and Project 2025. Yeah that's certainly fair. Both parties are at fault. A centrist candidate would be great but I don't think Biden is that at this point. He probably has some form of dementia and doesn't even know where he is half the time. We've really gone off the rails and getting a centrist thru a primary on either side is going to be extremely difficult moving forward.

I don't personally favor abortion (think unwanted children can be adopted).
But I don't think it's as black and white as you would like.
For hundreds of years the Church was OK with it , up to quickening. Assume that meant it wasn't a "baby" until that point.
Then one pope changed it, and the culture around it.

Why would I care what Melania says about it? And trust me I don't care one way or the other if the Church was ok with it. The church has been fine with boys getting sexually abused for hundreds of years. The church is not my moral code.

It remains very much a federal issue that would be subject to federal legislation and federal agency action.
The Comstock Act remains on the books and an anti-choice AG, appointed by the president, could choose to attempt to use that law to prevent the transportation of any medical equipment across state-lines that could be used in an abortion procedure.
The FDA regulates drugs used in abortion procedures. This agency is also under the control of the executive branch and subject to federal legislation.
The federal legislature could also pass a national abortion ban or pass a law codifying Roe. Any hospital that doesn't abide by the law could see their federal funding stripped (which would kill most hospitals).
And then there is always the power to appoint judges who will interpret all of these laws.

The problem with the abortion issue is the extremes on both sides. You’ve got the far right wanting it banned in all cases without exception. You’ve got the far left wanting it available up to the moment of birth for any reason. I think most people would be in favor of abortion being allowed in cases or rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother. I think they’d also be in favor of a ban after viability, or some other period of time unless it’s to save the life of the mother. Of course, neither of those will likely ever happen.

My own state currently has it on the ballot. It is a huge issue because many people either have had a medical necessity for it or knows someone who has had a medical necessity for it. When Pub laws are put on the books, doctors will flinch and delay to make sure they aren't breaking them. Delays can and will inevitably cause problems. Abortion should absolutely be legal. You are really slow my man. I know there are a ton of programs, that’s why I thought Arizona’s comment was hysterical. 1.) that he implied there aren’t those things and 2.) to think it makes much of a difference for the people who want to get abortions. This solution is brilliant. Abortions may/would assuredly drop, and it falls short of the type of behavior control (proven when shaming language is used regarding sexual behavior) that comes from the extreme right.
To XVILLE, until abortion propositions fall off state ballots and cases stop being heard in appellate courts abortion will be at the forefront of campaigns. Half the voting population are women, this affects a large percentage of them. They are going to have strong opinions because of that.

No, you clearly suggested his optimism in changing the moms decision options were "hysterical".
The only way to reduce the abortion numbers is the obvious preventative solutions I posted. Why is this not being 100% of the discussion?
That would imply that just because they have birth control, they would use it and use it properly.
Also the age old question, who is paying for it and how

Do what? Birth control is something you have to take everyday, every month and it costs way more than Tylenol. Plan b costs way more than Tylenol. Btw how much you think heath plans would cost if Tylenol was “free.” Some health plans cover the cost, but that cost comes from somewhere. Wanna guess who? it also has some not so great side effects. Some women can’t even take it. And there’s that pesky thing of a whole lot of parents not exactly liking the idea of their daughter being on birth control, so how is that overcome?
If it was such an easy solution, it’d be done.

98.7% effective birth control medication is less than $1 per day...must be FREE for anyone that can't afford it.
Day after is $45, but could easily be subsidized to make it FREE.

That birth control number is wrong but hey let’s say it’s a dollar a day. $365 a year, multiply that by the 100 million women who are menstruating or so. Wanna do the math on that one? I’ll help ya, it’s a shit ton of money. Ok so let’s say half those women have it covered already. So hey only multiply 365 x 50 mil. But you said can’t afford it. Let’s say that’s a million. Only 365 million a year, yay! Wanna bet where that money comes from? Then there’s that pesky thing about women actually taking it correctly and all the other things I mentioned.
Oh yeah and then plan b. 600k abortions a year, multiply that by 45 dollars. 27 mil a year. No biggie. You can pay for it.

Right. But haven't you heard? Personal responsibility is out the window in today's society. There are plenty of ways to not get pregnant, and if you do, there are plenty of things you can do besides killing your baby. That seems to be lost on a whole lot of people, even on this thread

First, you have to believe that trans women are women, full stop. That there's literally no difference between a trans woman and what they would call as cis woman. Once you've made that leap, then it's completely obvious that you should support the SJSU person being allowed to play and any other position makes you a hateful bigot.

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it and be among the minority who have it. The reality is that you cannot control behavior like that. It has been proven time after time. It's the reason abstinence only loses out to true sex education, it's the reason prohibition failed, human behavior can't be controlled.

Interesting points. If you believe that talking to young women about the pitfalls of having unprotected sex is considered 'behavior control', then absolutely sign me up. I have 2 daughters myself and I'm not dumb enough to think that abstinence is the only way. But I will 100% preach to them that if the options are to A) have unprotected sex and roll the dice or B) exercise some self control and save it for a rainy day. My expectation will be that they choose choice B. I'm also raising them to understand that being on the spectrum of promiscuity represents a lack of self respect.
Now to your second paragraph: I'll start by saying you aren't nearly as smart as you think you are, my guy. You aren't qualified to opine about my motivations. You simply don't know me well enough to understand these things. You might want to consider getting over yourself, or better yet do a little fact finding or be inquisitive before saying something so obtuse.

I’m willing to bet the chances that everyone reading this knows someone who has had an abortion, and has no idea that person ever had an abortion. The majority of abortions aren’t surgical. It’s most commonly done with the pills. No one ever knows or realizes they were pregnant. Not their parents, siblings, roommates, friends, or the father of the child. And, it makes complete sense to me why someone in that situation would never want to tell anyone.

I think a big reason we are so divided and there’s so much hate isn’t so much because of the things that are actually happening, but because of how so many people actually seek out something to trigger them. Trump is a known commodity. Harris is a known far left California Progressive that is in a full blown deception campaign. To have any confidence in this woman as Commander in Chief is nothing close to "better".

I remain amazed he’s the R candidate, and try to imagine how they would react if the D candidate was a convicted felon and sex abuser with open cases for inciting a riot and stealing government secrets. Just try to imagine that.
What I really am is scared shitless for our country if he’s elected.

You want an actual dollar amount?? I have no idea. This is not a particular topic that I consider myself to be informed on. I'm under the impression that the 15 million number is about right, and prior to this administration it was around 10-12 million. While many illegal immigrants do work and do pay taxes, it still doesn't offset the overall cost. Other than that it's not something that's really been a huge red flag for me. I'm not discounting the importance of it. I'm just saying that for me personally it's not what gives me heartburn. I've got too much heartburn with other issues.

This post is 100% correct.
This 8 year hate campaign has become the most vicious attack on any POTUS in the history of our Country.
TDS is a clinical rabid mental illness. This goes so far beyond his abhorrent personality and "mean tweets". Half the Country can not stand the sight of him....literally lose it on the sound of his voice. Only Hillary Clinton comes close in that level of disgust.
Historians will document his Presidency as a positive 4 years. The overwhelming dedication from all Leftist forces to destroy him, will also be well documented.
He wasn’t talking about trump.
I was really talking about EVERYONE.
People who yell for a speaker on campus that you had never heard of 24 hours ago be cancelled, fired, and sent home are part of the problem. Just don't go to the presentation.
People who flip through their guides and streaming services looking for old episodes of the Dukes of Hazzard so the can yell about how it shouldn't be on the air anymore are part of the problem. Just don't watch it. Willie Nelson played Uncle Jessie in the movie. I'm sure there are people that want him cancelled. They're part of the problem.
People who watched the Olympics who never really cared about it before, but wanted to see something that they could to yell about are part of the problem. I know several people who, after the opening ceremonies, went on for pages and pages on Facebook about how it was a disgrace and how they were boycotting watching the games. That's both funny and sad. It's funny because them boycotting the Olympics is sort of like me boycotting Bed Bath and Beyond. They weren't going to watch anyway. But, it's sad because it shows just how many people want something to yell about.
Some day soon someone will want to cancel The Naked Gun. The scene where he sings the National Anthem is just too much for them to handle. Nevermind that up until now it's been funny as hell. These people are part of the problem.
Who cares if Colin Kaepernick wants to kneel?? Who REALLY cares?? It's a symbolic protest. So what?? He's not hurting anything. As angry as so many people were, I bet very few of them had ever visited a VA Hospital, and would scream bloody murder if their taxes did go up to provide better benefits and better pay for the armed forces (which they should, but that's a different debate). And, up until 2009 (I think) football teams were never on the field for the National Anthem anyway.
If you're complaining about how a library you've not been to for the last ten years has a book you don't like and therefore needs to be shut down forever, you're part of the problem.
People who refuse to acknowledge that the cops that killed George Floyd did anything wrong are part of the problem.
People who refuse to acknowledge that the officers who killed George Floyd were dealt with very severely and charged with murder are also part of the problem. Their actions were strongly condemned by virtually every law enforcement organization in the country. It's not like anyone covered it up, or endorsed it, or said it was okay.
Yes, I'm talking a lot about Trump, but not just him. I'm talking about EVERYONE. And, while I'm not a fan of Trump, and I think he and his supporters certainly partake in this, I think the Left is worse about this kind of stuff. Why does everyone want to be triggered?? They want to be triggered so badly that they'll even latch on to something that's clearly made up and go off the rails over it.

I don't disagree.
Having said that, I can also completely understand one side looking at the other and seeing that they want to just not have law enforcement anymore, and saying that Hamas needs our support, and that people need to be completely cancelled because of some picture that was taken more than a quarter-century ago, and thinking "Wow, these people are fucking nuts!"
Also having said that, when one side looks at the other and sees them telling all these lies about how they actually won the election, and that people's pets are being eaten (which is a soundbyte that will go down in history), and all this other stuff, they're gonna also think "Wow, these people are fucking nuts!"

No.

But I do find MSM to be more reliable than X.com. I just did a search on X and found a story claiming the CIA is covering up alien abductions. So, while MSM news outlets are owned by entertainment groups, and they produce the news in the same ways and with the same objectives as they produce their other forms of entertainment, and while I agree that's a HUGE problem, they aren't to the point of where they're running stories about the CIA covering up alien abductions and trying to pass that off as factual.

I think msm, and social media are the culprits of what has happened to politics and overall society in the last 15 or so years. News was almost always slanted, but not to this extent. Social media just allows for anyone to say anything, and a pretty solid base of people will believe it.

I agree. I also understand that for people in their 50s and older, they grew up (and were even grown up) in a time when news media was a legitimate public trust. In their mind, it probably still is. So when they see something absurd either from the MSM or from social media, they don't fully realize that Walter Cronkite is long gone, and what they're seeing now ain't that at all.
I'm not going to say that I don't think younger people don't spend too much time on social media, or that they're never brainwashed by it, but they don't seem to be QUITE as susceptible to it either. Some of them are batshit, but there are seemingly more that know that the ones that are batshit are batshit.
People from our parent's generation all told us that if we watched too much TV we'd rot our brains. I think Facebook and social media did to them what they said too much TV would do to us. They see all this bullshit, and they don't realize that most of it is just bullshit. And while they acknowledge that the MSM is not reliable, they still believe that the MSM that THEY like is. A student once said to me that Facebook is where older people go to yell at each other. I've never heard a better description of Facebook in my life!!
The MSM is no longer a public trust. You have to question all of it. And...people don't. They question what comes from the other side of the isle, but they never question their own side. And, they need to.

That, the State of West Virginia will not recognize any election of the Democrat candidate for President during the 2024 election cycle if the Republican presidential or vice-presidential candidate is assassinated, seriously injured during an assassination attempt, incarcerated, de facto eliminated or barred from the ballot in any states, or is the subject of legal actions that preclude their effective campaigning …

We already know trump, so who cares? Perhaps we should question Kamala’s iq? Oh she did an interview? Oh man that’s impressive! Let’s give her a trophy.

Things are bad. I've got other friends in Florida that are right in the eye of the storm that I wish like hell would have left. I tried to get them to come up and stay with me, but I guess they're as dumb and as stubborn as I am and don't want to leave the places they call home.
Now, pay attention dipshit. And while you're at it stop putting words in my mouth....
I never said things were not bad. What I said was not true (and it ABSOLUTELY IS NOT) was that FEMA was out of money, that no aid was getting in, and that there were blockades set up to keep the aid from coming in. That's what isn't true. I am CERTAIN that isn't true. Anyone that actually believes that is a fucking idiot, and anyone who's trying to convince people that those things are true is a fucking jackass. It's a lie. There are no blockades. If there are blockades, then how the hell did the people who are on twitter live and on location get down there themselves?? The people saying that are really just exploiting an opportunity to take advantage of morons, make people mad, and generate more social media buzz around themselves.
That’s fair.
Regarding people in Florida, honestly I don’t judge people who want to stay. With that said, they should deal with whatever consequences comes from that decision. Don’t ask for a rescue if that’s what you chose to do.

I just read over, and over, and over, ad nauseam that she wouldn't sit for interviews, and lately that's all she's doing.
While he ducks them because they might be fact checked?
And Vance bitched that it was against the rules to fact check?
Why are people so gullible to buy into their lies.

Great! She's sitting for interviews now with idiots from the VIEW, a sex podcast, and 60 minutes and looking really stupid in the process, which is exactly why she wasn't sitting for interviews in the first place even in her safe space.
Right now if I'm Trump or Vance I wouldn't sit for interviews with those media types either. They "fact-check" with their own lies. So why give them the platform? Did you watch the Vance/Walz debate? The moderators literally fact checked with lies.
