I am not sure how one is related to another here?
We are spending billions on defense while we have homeless vets sleeping on the streets begging for money. We’ve lost our way pretty damn hard? Biden starts bombing.
We are subsidizing sports stadiums while we have homeless vets sleeping on the streets begging for money. We’ve lost our way pretty damn hard? Local issues not Federal
We are funding high school football while we have homeless vets sleeping on the streets begging for money. We’ve lost our way pretty damn hard? Local Issues not Federal
We are painting the Brent Spence Bridge while we have homeless vets sleeping on the streets begging for money. We’ve lost our way pretty damn hard? Local issue between Ohio and Kentucky with part Federal on I-75- the bloodline artery of middle America. Not equivalent
We are building parks while we have homeless vets sleeping on the streets begging for money. We’ve lost our way pretty damn hard? Local Issue not Federal
We are funding jails while we have homeless vets sleeping on the streets begging for money. We’ve lost our way pretty damn hard? Local Issue not Federal, but Biden wants to close “Private Prisons to government fund them. YEAH!
We are cutting taxes while we have homeless vets sleeping on the streets begging for money. We’ve lost our way pretty damn hard? Not for long, Federally and not Gasoline Taxes, local sales taxes or local Income taxes. Tax cuts got the Unemployment rate below 3.5% giving jobs to those “homeless vets” who are probably back on the street now.
We are funding museums while we have homeless vets sleeping on the streets begging for money. We’ve lost our way pretty damn hard? Local not Federal
I think the underlying issue is that while we have homeless vets sleeping on the streets begging for money, and that is independent of all of the other funding decisions that we make. I would call your rep and ask them to support funding for homeless veterans. Call your local authorities to stop Featherbedding the Local Government staff and direct more money into the County Health and Human Services areas.

So we got a crisis at the border, we’ve got a media engaged in what I consider to be a 1984-esque war with the people, and now Biden wants to ship more jobs oversees with a planned corporate tax increase from 21 to 28% in order to pay for his buffoonery of a “covid” relief bill. Why does Amtrak get a billion dollars for covid relief?

This is what the people wanted! You think unemployment is bad now just wait until that corp tax goes to 28%. I'll have to layoff a few or raise prices. Neither good for the consumer.

Very well put. Not sure how STL says they aren’t related. We are giving better care to non-citizens than our own people. I don’t want to hear all this bullshit about “save the children!” These teens and kids didn’t get to the border on their own and it’s pretty scary to think we will have unaccompanied older teenagers running amok in our borders undocumented and unchecked. Just look at the recent stories - a 4x deported illegal raped and nearly killed a 15 yo.

You make it sound like corporations and businesses don’t actually pay taxes and just pass them off to the consumer. Yes I know this is how it works.
Remember no new taxes on the middle class...well probably not directly anyway.

My issue is that you make it sound like one issue caused the other, as if this is a zero sum game. There is plenty of money to do both, and they should do both. There have been homeless Veterans during every presidency during my life time (and my guess is well before my lifetime). This problem didn't just start on January 20th, but it is generations of failed policies on both sides of the aisle.
So I am all about addressing the issue of homeless veterans, I just have no clue what it has to do with trying to provide basic sanitary living conditions to those individuals currently in custody.

No - I didn’t make it sound that way. My gripe is we provide all these damn benefits for illegals and yet we have those in our own citizenry that are suffering. Let’s shut down all the small businesses cuz muh fear of Covid, but let’s let all these assholes flow in over the border unchecked. The dem hypocrisy is astounding. The fact that we are even considering vaccines for these people BEFORE our own enrages me.

I don't think that word means what you think it means. How is that hypocrisy? Poor judgement isn't necessarily hypocrisy. I think Democrats (and most sane people, really) would like to see as many people vaccinated as we possibly can. It also sounds like in the next 2 months we will be able to get every American who wants it a vaccine. Maybe faster if the statistics about nearly half of Republicans being vaccine skeptics are true. Virtually everyone I know has an appointment in the next 4 weeks.
I do agree that we should take care of all Americans first, but as soon as we are done with that we should get together with the rest of the developed world and try to get as many people (globally) vaccinated as possible. The last thing we need is to have COVID festering in 3rd world countries until it mutates enough that the vaccines don't work.

It's exactly what the word means - telling all Americans not to live their lives while allowing rampant illegal immigration to bring Covid (and God knows what else) into this country.
Also, take it from someone who works with vaccines and viruses as a profession - these vaccines are suspect at best. They might be approved via EUA from the FDA but that's a far cry from officially approved. Long term safety data is obviously absent, there has been (at least) 40 cases of miscarriage/spontaneous abortion in pregnant women. The last time I pulled safety data from VAERS there were 130 deaths in those who had received their second dose of vaccine. Hell - I suspect it just killed Marvin Hagler. My family won't be getting them anytime soon. Our risk of SAE from the vaccine heavily outweighs the potential benefit. Regardless of political affiliation, those I know and work with including physicians, are not getting the shot.

Know what are incredible dangers to our country are that are not straw men that you create?
- Unchecked southern border illegal immigration.
- Lying to the public about who’s taxes would be raised just to get elected.
- Slicing good paying union jobs under the guise of climate wokeness
- Passing a bloated “Covid relief “ bill that is certainly inflationary.
- Letting China dictate what the WHO says about a pandemic that the Chinese released on the world.
- Letting regressive gas price increases happen that hurt lower income folks disproportionately
- Taking the most money from Wall Street elites in history and dissing the little guy.
- Killing more babies
- Allowing our educational systems to be infected with the dangerous and segregationist Critical Race Theory that by action and teaching is racist.
- Tolerating, if not promoting left wing riots and police defunding by propping “bail out funds” and visiting with felon criminals like Jacob Blake.
- Not holding news conferences to answer tough questions so little transparency.
- Allowing his minions in Congress to promote the awful idea of ditching the filibuster without outright condemning the idea. That strikes right at the heart of democracy.
Now. THOSE are incredible dangers to our country. But just keep that guy who is out of power in your head, while your country around you burns.

If you can convince yourself that biological males playing girls sports is just fine, then you can probably convince yourself of just about anything. It may not be the most pressing issue in the world, but when it does come up it's blatantly unfair and a bit of a joke. Even Renee Richards said it was an unfair advantage.
In related news, a transgender just won the Miss Nevada USA pageant - thus taking away the award from a "real" woman: https://www.fox5vegas.com/news/first-transgender-titleholder-crowned-miss-silver-state-usa/article_a758ff9e-86e3-11eb-83e0-5783653b0b9c.html
Not only will the so-called "Equality Act" take positions away from real girls on sports teams, and take their scholarships, the act will also allow men to declare themselves women in order to win governmental contracts. Right now men sentenced to jail are already declaring themselves as women in order to be placed in women's detention centers - either to escape the brutality of men's jails, or to sexually assault women.
Men will be allowed to use women's restrooms and locker rooms. Got a young daughter?
Anybody who rationalizes this as not being a big deal, or it isn't that widespread, is insane.

Why is Sleepy Joe poking the Russian bear then? Didn't he get all tough guy the other day when he called Putin a "killer"? Why won't he do the same with China??? Oh yeah...he's made millions off China. Same with Hunter and Eric Stalwell.
Pokes the Bear. Putin calls him out to have a public broadcast discussion and Joe claims he’s “too busy”.

Context:
The US pledged to raise contentious issues such as Beijing's treatment of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang.
In a blunt opening statement before the talks in private, Mr Blinken said the US would "discuss our deep concerns with actions by China, including in Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Taiwan, cyber attacks on the United States, economic coercion of our allies".
"Each of these actions threaten the rules-based order that maintains global stability," he said.
Xinjiang is the region where the Uighurs are being suppressed.

Passing a covid relief bill that you see as inflationary, while most economists note it is needed and there's a lot of room for control.

I would love to see a return to the tax rates we had under Bill Clinton. There was a more balanced approach to spending and we actually had a balanced budget, and were we'll on our way to actually reducing the national debt before another trickle down nonsense that didn't work.

Maybe? Time will tell. The market is now betting on inflation going up leading to declines this week. Interest rates too.
And taxes going up is regressive to the middle class and contributed to the income disparity we have had.
What about the rest Paul? Gas prices, southern border, supporting criminals and rioters, Critical race theory. I'm actually not sure we can, at least on here. Maybe over a beer.
For example...how would you like Biden to govern differently to affect gas prices? None of his actions have affected current pricing.
Prices have risen as demand has increased, and production that was cut back last year comes on line.
That's a free market supply/demand issue. I know Fox et al. wants to blame him, but here's the counter.

And now even Mexico is fed up with Biden’s faulty policy.
From ImmigrationReform.com
“ According to Reuters, the Mexican government has expressed unease over President Biden’s immigration policies. Since the 46th president took office, America’s southern neighbor has experienced large numbers of U.S.-bound Central American migrants crossings its borders to take advantage of the Biden administration’s loosened asylum policies. Unsurprisingly, Mexico is feeling the adverse effects of being used as a transit nation.
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador recently sounded off on the surge of foreign nationals entering his country. President Lopez Obrador urged President Biden to scale back his faulty asylum policies. The Mexican head of state explained the administration’s new immigration procedures have empowered organized crime syndicates in Mexico to profit from human smuggling and trafficking at the U.S.-Mexico border”
What a train wreck this administration is. But Biden will go to the border “at some point”. Yeesh

According to the Wall Street Journal, current oil supply disruptions DO affect current gasoline prices. Of course, this is regressive as hell and disproportionately hurts the lower and middle classes.
“ Gasoline prices at U.S. pumps hit an average of $2.88 a gallon over the past week. Oil prices jumped 6% Wednesday as a giant container ship blocked a vital oil artery, the Suez Canal. It adds to a series of supply-chain disruptions (like pipeline cancellations and fracking bans- insert by me) set to push up prices for raw materials and other inputs

Two days prior, he banned the DC National Guard from touching, arresting, or searching rioters, and bringing weapons, helmets and body armor to work on January 6
And of course set on his hands for a couple hours while our Capitol was being over run.

The last Defense Secretary who served for a couple of months,
And of course set on his hands for a couple hours while our Capitol was being over run.
There are numerous challenges on the international stage that will stress the new administration. I feel confident the people who are working there now will do a better job than before.
Actually Pelosi was in charge of the Gaurd that day...

Let me forward your questions to the families of the Capitol Hill Police.
As to the claim about starting wars, perhaps you been playing back a post that said:
“Did ya know? This was the 1st 4 year term with out <sic> a new war since Eisenhower.” The poster did not respond to USA TODAY's requests for comment.
Eisenhower was president 60 years ago.
We rate this claim FALSE, based on our research. Trump's term in office has not been the first four-year term since Eisenhower without a new war. Carter, Ford and Nixon all served after Eisenhower and did not bring the country into new wars.
I'll try not to confuse you with facts.

Uh.....from Reuters:
” Despite his policy of Vietnamization (a plan to gradually withdraw), President Richard Nixon intensified the conflict on other fronts, especially in Cambodia and Laos “
Ford was a continuation of Nixon’s term, Nixon’s policies and was his VP, and NOT re-elected to his own term, so to include him in this list is inaccurate at best.
Weak Jimmy Carter had an Ayatollah led Iran Hostage Crisis- An Act of War vs the United States that was equivalent to an attack on the Country, but he was too weak to resolve it- that wasn’t solved until Reagan took office. Carter also cost the lives of American soldiers in the Middle Eastern Desert by his clumsy and chicken hearted Milquetoast moves.
That is some “fact-check”. More of an “opinion check”.

I live in a “Gerrymandered” District- from Toledo through *only* the eastern end of Cuyahoga County. One part of this “District” is only 3 blocks wide.
It was Gerrymandered by Democrats so Dems would win. Summit, Medina and Geauga Counties are conveniently left out. So are the cities of Avon, Westlake, Bay Village Fairview Park and Rocky River are mostly left out. A Republican represents those communities and if there was no “gerry” by the Dems, they would have 2 less Reps.

You've got to know "starting a war" and "continuing one you inherit" are two different things. That's not an "opinion," it's a fact.
As to Ohio's redistricting, I think if you check, the current congressional districts, which were re-drawn after the 2010 census, were drawn by the party in power in the Ohio state house...the Republicans. So if you live in a highly gerrymandered district, like the one you describe from Toledo eastward, call the state Republican party. Don't blame it on Dems.

Good for you. Just stick to the facts though. Re-redistricting is done state by state, and has nothing to do with Gingrich in the national congress.
I'm not complaining about anything. I just like to have dialogue based on facts, not somebody's tweets, or news feed from opinion artists.

Paul and self-awareness haven't gotten the chance to be introduced yet.
How about Grandpa Joe saying that new GA voting law has the polls closing at 5:00PM and 'working people" won't be able to vote.
"What I’m worried about is how un-American this whole initiative is. It’s sick. It’s sick," Biden said. "Deciding that you’re going to end voting at five o'clock when working people are just getting off work."
Rebuke from Glen Kessler (Liberal fact checker from the Washington Post)
"On Election Day in Georgia, polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and if you are in line by 7 p.m., you are allowed to cast your ballot. Nothing in the new law changes those rules. However, the law did make some changes to early voting. But experts say the net effect was to expand the opportunities to vote for most Georgians, not limit them," Kessler continued, noting some experts feel Biden may have been briefed on an outdated version of the bill.
Kessler also wrote Biden may have gotten confused because the new law clarifies that early voting can be conducted "beginning at 9:00 AM and ending at 5:00 PM," as opposed to the previous framing that simply noted early voting "shall be conducted during normal business hours."

OK, I'll try again. Here is a link to show who was control of the Ohio legislature in 2010.

In the last 28 years, Dems have controlled the house in Ohio for 2 cycles. They had it in '08, but lost in 2010. Republicans have had it since.
The census of 2010 was used by the Republicans to redraw the districts, including your snake district.
After the 2010 Census, Ohio lost two House seats due to slow population growth compared to the national average, and a new map was signed into law on September 26, 2011. This map was ruled unconstitutional due to "partisan gerrymandering", and state Republicans were told to redraw the map before June 14, 2019.
As I understand it, the suit went all the way to the SC, and was dismissed. A new map is coming and think Ohio is trying for a bi-partisan commission to re-draw the lines.
Regardless, it is my understanding that the Republicans re-drew the lines (including the long district on the lake) in 2011, based on the 2010 census.
What am I missing?

The One Hundred Twenty-ninth Ohio General Assembly was a meeting of the Ohio state legislature, composed of the Ohio State Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives. It met in Columbus, Ohio from January 3, 2011 until December 20, 2012. While Ted Strickland was Ohio Governor for the first week of the biennium, John Kasich was sworn in during the second week. The apportionment of districts was based on the [B]2000United States Census. This was the last time the 2000 census was used by the General Assembly to determine the apportionment of legislative districts.
The District has been Represented by a Democrat forever because it’s been a huge Dem fight to protect it and part of a compromise agreement. Dennis Kuchinich before, Marcy Kaptur now. It is drawn to favor Democrats. Anthony Gonzalez, a Republican represents the adjacent district. When it gets redrawn Gonzalez will win, if he runs.
Stop acting like only Republicans Gerrymander. Dems jump at the chance.

I hate to get involved in this but because I lived in this district in 2012 I will share my memory of this, which backs what Paul says. The district was redrawn to include part of Kucinich’s district and Kaptur/Kucinich, BOTH incumbents, were forced to run against each other thus eliminating a Democrat in congress. Kaptur was already in office since the early 80s and because the census showed depleting population Ohio lost two seats. Republican legislature drew the new lines (the governor does not draw congressional district lines) knowing the seat lost in this area would be a Democratic seat. I’m sure Democrats gerrymander but this is not an example of that at all.

Thanks Lloyd. I checked with an attorney friend who practiced for many years in Toledo, and is a friend of the president of the Ohio Senate.
He confirmed to me that the Republicans did in fact redraw the congressional district lines, as they retook control of the legislature in 2010, as I noted above.
I know gerrymandering is done by both parties, but in Ohio's case, the 2011 re-draw caused a lot of challenges.
As a result of the 2010 Census, Ohio lost two congressional seats, dropping from 18 to 16.[4][8]
Ohio received its 2010 local census data. This data guided lawmakers as they drew new legislative districts

You're either being a complete smart-ass or purposefully obtuse. Is it your opinion that those opposed to the cancel culture hate the free market? You know damn well one does not equal the other.

How is one consumer or a group of consumers boycotting a company and bringing to light company practices or products of which they don't approve not the free-market? Is it because they are making their feelings public? Is it the public call to boycott? How are any of those things bad?
This is exactly the free market working from the consumer side. You choosing not to participate in the boycott is also the free market working from the consumer side.
Again, why do you hate the free market?
You have a very distorted view of what free market is and actually means. It is not what you describe above. Free market is an economic term, has zero to do with the above.
So you are either completely ignorant, which I don’t think you are, or you are trying to fit something into whatever narrative you are pushing that doesn’t compute.
Just because you agree with some bs article from the media, doesn’t mean it makes any sense.
cancel culture creates an environment where it is not acceptable to voice ideas. Don’t like what someone is saying? No need to listen or hear them, just silence and cancel them. One of the biggest signs of respect someone can show to you is to say “I have heard your idea, and you are wrong and here is why.” It means they thought your ideas were intelligent enough to listen to, and they did listen, and while they don’t agree they respect you enough to tell you why and share their ideas with you to give you knowledge and a different viewpoint.
But cancel culture says “nay”. It is cowardace. I don’t like what you have to say, I stopped listening to you, and don’t have any ideas to share with you to refute what you are saying, so I’m going to stir others up in droves to silence you and your ideology. It makes us as a society, much weaker., and is not a free market nor has anything to do with a free market.

How is the free market only driven by the producers? It would seem to me that the free market is driven by both producers and consumers. Prices and products are driven by supply and demand not just supply. A boycott of a product is something kicked off by consumers to dramatically reduce demand for a product and hurt the applicable business. Regardless of the reason, it's a consumer or several consumers'
choice that seek to dramatically reduce demand for said product. This is done free from any government oversight or control and made purely from the consumer side of the equation.
It is a pure free market decision that drive this, it doesn't matter that you don't agree with their boycott. This is the same as my mother-in-law turning off her netflix because they signed the Obamas and telling her whole family to do the same. These calls for boycotts are stupid, but it doesn't change the fact that they all boil down to a call for consumers to unleash the power of their wallet.
Edit to include this: Free speech isn't freedom from consequence. Cancel culture is stupid, but the world should continue to hold people accountable for the stupid things they say/post in public.

I agree with your last two sentences. The problem I have is when cancel culture happens just because someone has beliefs different from yours. The free market only cares that a decision was made not the particulars of the decision. You care about it. You can hate on cancel culture all you want, but it doesn’t change the fact the people who choose not to consume a product or buy from a company are exercising their rights in the free market. Social media allows that choice to travel faster than ever before in history. You are free to disagree and spout it at the top of your lungs or with ferocious strokes of your keyboard. Nobody is curtailing anyone's ability to say in public whatever they want, but nobody should be curtailing the consequences of speech. This works for business as well, if you spout stuff in public and you are the face of a company prepare for a backlash or be sure you aren't annoying your customers.
I have a great many conservative friends and family. When Nike hired Kaep, they all told me this would kill the company. I politely told them Nike sells 35%ish of the US market share for shoes. They know who buys their shoes, they made a business decision. You go ahead and not buy them, it's your decision. Same for the Dr. Suess people, they know who buys their books and they know what books are sold. I told them the same thing, that decision was made in a board room with sales reports and not with cancel culture on their mind. These are business decisions and boycotts are consumer decisions. Businesses/consumers can make any choice they want resulting in either side reacting accordingly.

They’re called externalities. They are not part of normal market theory. I.e, supply/demand based on product and price demands/supplies of parties involved.
From a marketing standpoint it’s folly to engage in this manner when the issue is not related to your product/brand.

It's the difference between text book and real life. The fact is these things all affect how we use our money. People make buying decisions based things like locally owned business, sustainably grown, even whether a company uses profits for political lobbying. I literally don't know a single person who purely shops based on price alone.
Now that the MLB moved the All-star game out of George, Dr. Suess Enterprises stopped printing books, my question is whether you honestly believe it's the company caving to cancel culture or if it's the company who knows who their consumers are and the type of company they are expected to be? My earlier example of Nike, they know who buys their shoes. MLB knows exactly who is going to their games and watching them on TV. Dr. Suess Enterprises knows who are buying their books and which books are being bought.

I'm curious. Is there actually evidence of one, or more, self-described "antifa" people that actually have been arrested in the few hundred so far?
Shortly after the riot, the FBI directly refuted the conspiracy theory, saying there is "no indication" that antifa — a decentralized collection of far-left groups and individuals — was involved. To date, no one who has since been charged in the attack appears to have any connection to the anti-fascist movement either.

Cancel culture at it’s best!
Georgia has 17 days of in-person early voting including two optional Sundays, Colorado has 15," Georgia Governor Kemp said. "So what I'm being told, they also have a photo ID requirement. So it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
As it turns out, Colorado also requires voters to show identification when voting in person, and the state says that first-time mail-in voters may be required to include a copy of their identification with their ballot.
This is not far off from Georgia, which requires identification for in-person and absentee voting, although Georgia requires proof of identity for all absentee voting. According to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's office, voters without ID can use the last four digits of their social security number, a utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or another government document with their name and address on it.
Colorado relies on signature matching for absentee ballots other than those from first-time mail-in voters.

Calling Colorado's voting laws worse than Georgia is being disingenuous. Georgia's turnout was around 69%. Three audits produced the same end results of their initial count. There were no irregularities. Three audits would have created some kind of variance.
Be honest, do you think Georgia's new laws will increase their participation to the level of Colorado or create a bigger gap?
Our goal should be 100% participation, but it's pretty clear to me how elections pan out when participation is high.

Colorado's 85% participation rate which was brought on by mailing a ballot to all registered voters is being praised. Your narrative works if you leave out key facts about what exactly is going on in Colorado. You are also leaving out the draconian measures the GQP can take in Georgia to take over local elections and giving someone water within 150 feet of a polling place.

So you actually have to register first with ID Equivalent
You are splitting hairs to get to a narrative. It absolutely does not justify moving the All Star game out of Georgia to Colorado.
Stupidest thing I have seen for a long time.

Nope. 94% of Coloradoans voted by mail or put it in a drop box. Piece of cake. 76.4 voted.
https://www.5280.com/2020/12/how-2020-has-affected-the-way-we-vote/
Still requires and ID to register and a valid sig. Plus, early voting is not as long here as in GA.

Oh yeah, 16 vs. 6 or the number of forms of ID Colorado accepts vs. Georgia. Colorado is all kinds of stricter than Georgia.

Because 16 different options for Id is definitely necessary. Fake outrage over nothing.

Exactly. Like I said just stupid but this will sooner or later backfire on liberals.

Why are you liberals so racist as to think black people are incapable of obtaining a form of ID?
Biden says the Masters can stay in Georgia. Whew, I was worried.
WOW! Dodged a bullet there! Those guys who can throw the greatest event in golf without worrying about having any advertisers were probably trembling in the boots!

So the narrative was originally, Colorado is more strict and worse than Georgia when comparing voting laws but has now shifted to fake outrage and why do you need to offer as many as 16 forms of ID to register to vote.
Got it. I consider the goal posts officially moved after the Colorado is worse than Georgia narrative completely failed. I applaud the effort.
I admit I haven’t studied this, even living in Georgia. Voting is so damn easy, if you can’t hit that bar maybe you shouldn’t be allowed to vote. We just mailed it in. How hard is that? No ID required (though I think that is reasonable). Just mailed it in. If you are incapable of a little planning, I don’t think you deserve to decide our future. Take your own water or pizza. I don’t like the idea of buying votes for treats. There is no reason to wait in lines regardless.
What am I missing that is so horrible? I’m honest, I’m apparently missing the point. Gov Kemp seems like a clown, but I don’t understand the hate on this. Help me understand the hate, please. My wife hates it, and she’s a smart lady, but she can’t tell me what is so awful about it.

Not going the race path, but the state of Georgia has said they will make ID free for everyone. That is NOT an impediment to voting if you want to vote.

And therein lies the problem. Too many people are just parroting the Democrat’s talking points. They don’t know why it’s bad, but the Left and the media are saying it is, so it must be true.

I can't help you with your wife (!), but here's a couple of thoughts.
In some ways the new law helped voting: drop boxes in rural areas, studying and reacting to long waiting lines, an extra early voting day
In other ways it didn't help.
-Reduced drop box numbers in populous counties and put them inside the voting location, instead of outside.
-They were using signature match on mail in ballots...now you have to provide another form of ID with the ballot.
(If you had registered to vote with an ID, put your signature on file, it was matched to your mail in ballot. Now you'll have to send in another ID with the ballot. Unlike Colorado, who can apparently match signatures with no problem for all the people there who use mail in ballots successfully)
-Georgia's population has grown 25% in the last 20 years (8 to 10 million). The number of precincts to vote has been reduced by 10%; this may explain the very long wait lines in some areas to vote in person.
-Across the South, with the population steadily increasing in many states like Georgia, since the Supreme Court threw out pre-clearance of voting law changes, the number of polling places has been cut by 1,200.
-After standing in lines for hours on election day, if you were in line at 7 PM, you could still vote. The average wait time (after being in line for a long time) was 51 more minutes in black precincts...6 minutes in white precincts.
Maybe a good answer is to have a national holiday for voting like many countries do.

Or just early vote or mail in vote or vote in any of the other numerous options that are available. Again, this is fake outrage just to rile up the liberal base, just like trump does/did on the other side to say that the other side is basically Satan coming back to earth. The media perpetuates the false narrative and most of the public falls for it.

So you are saying a state like Colorado that mails a ballot to all registered voters could be a good thing? Maybe a company who is allowed to make their own decisions like moving an All-Star game should bring light to this. Oh wait!
Ncaa threatened to move out of Indianapolis when they stupidly passed their “religious liberty” law. That didn’t go well for Indiana.

Nothing of what I said has anything to do with Colorado. I’m saying that people like yourself have fake outrage over legislation that is essentially a nothing burger, or maybe that’s my white privilege talking. . If mlb wants to be all “woke,” grandstand, and screw an entire city of revenue that’s their prerogative.

A largely black, heavily Democrat city at that. In favor of a super white city. Well played MLB.

Thank you for a mature, balanced and well thought out response. It seems there is some reason for concern. I still have to point out how ridiculously easy it was to mail in my ballot. If you really want to vote, it’s not hard. Maybe this tilts the battlefield a bit, but if you want to vote, it’s easy to do so.

I guess my question is what was the point of changing anything? Why the need? Voter fraud is a non issue. It is so unbelievably miniscule there is no reason to eve waste time or energy discussing it.
And regardless of what you think of the new requirements, in terms of how easy you think they should be to meet, will the new law increase voting or decrease? (Decrease is the answer) Who will be voting less?

You are correct, voter fraud is a non issue, and actual fraud minuscule.
The problem is that the former president spent 5 years telling his supporters that there was massive fraud, and he could only lose because of it.
He even convinced them they had to stop the steal, and they tried to by storming the Capitol.
Large percentages of Republican voters still believe it...there was fraud and that's why he lost...despite 50+ crazy court cases.
In February:
How many? Try 76% of self-identified Republicans in a new national Quinnipiac University poll. That's the number of Republicans who said they believe there was "widespread fraud in the 2020 election."
In April:
60% of Republicans instead believe Trump’s claims that Biden’s win was due to widespread voter fraud despite a lack of credible evidence.
So, some reality may be starting to set in.
It may even have cost them the Senate in Georgia, as some may have stayed home thinking there was fraud and their vote didn't matter.
Even though the Republicans in charge of voting in Georgia said (after 3 recounts) that there was no problem.
So, to answer your question...why change the laws at all?...it's (in my mind) a political play to that base in Georgia.
The Republican legislature and Governor in Georgia wanted to be seen as doing something...anything...to appease that base. Ergo the new laws.
Needed or not.
An added benefit might be the suppression of minority voting, which the state has an unfortunately long history of doing.

Fair point. I want voting to be EASY and FAIR. It is not fair as currently designed. But it is EASY (whether you agree or not). It could not have been easier. Maybe education regarding the process needs to be better addressed. My goal is to let everyone vote if they want to vote with similar effort required. Some people don’t care to vote, and that is their right. I’m not trying to get everyone to vote, just to make it FAIR.

Honestly, don’t have a problem with either way. Some can argue it’s more suppressive to have someone subjectively reject (signature match) your ability to vote vs objectively checking matching numbers?
Regardless what we think of individual states voting laws today, hopefully we can agree they are not Jim Crow on steroids. Think that same person also said “if you don’t vote for me then you’re not black.” Now that sounds intimidating and suppressive.

Read Paul's post, it's a nothing burger to you. There are a lot of Georgians who this is not a nothing burger who just got this law shoved down their throats. The measures that allow the legislature to take over an election board should have been enough to get this voted down.
