I would but I imagine Xavier might not be too happy about it.

So the girlfriend gets left out? That is going to cost you.

The announced attendance for the uc game last night was about 5000, probably about half of that actually bothered to show up. That's pretty pathetic, but who cares.

I'll be at the Ferris State game, with wife, daughters, in-laws, out-laws and general riff raff sitting around me in section 201. It's reunion weekend too. 25 year celebration for me and the wifey, along with some of my section mates. Cheer us loudly when they wheel us out on the floor at half time, we will all be riding Hoverrounds I assume at our age. Man those were good times. Our first year at X was Byron's senior year I believe. We'd take school busses to the Gardens and generally be fairly hammered when we arrived but also sneak in another 4 or 5 beers each. The upper end zone looked like an aluminum recycling center by the end of the games.
Looking forward to getting the ball in the air. Let's go X!!

Anyone have a couple extra? Stubhub is cheap....until they add in bogus fees. So if you're selling on stubhub, let me know. We can both save on stupid fees! :D

Watched CMack's post conference tape. He says the team was bad and mediocre. Post players put in only 8 points which is not good.
Thank God it was exhibition!

Not a good showing down low. Gaston/O'Mara 4 pts total in 36 minutes.
Macura 6-6, with 3-3's.
We shot 52%. They shot 26.5%

Based on a sample size of one game, our opponents should plan on fouling Tyrique. I think he was ofer from the line.

I know Nova and the Bluejays crushed whoever they played. Maybe NC maybe not--but need KG and MD back for league play, that's for sure.
Also, anybody have any observations about Rashid. Didn't lite up the stat sheet.

Tim Stainbrook seemed to get more minutes then I expected. Galton had a rough first game from my view.

'Bout what I expected. Ed, Tre and JP (6-6, 3-3 1-2) scored more points then their whole team. Frontcourt has to get better. OMara 0-6 0-1. Geesh.

I think of Sean as being much more efficient. This is why we play these games, I suppose.

We missed having Kaiser in the rotation more than I thought we would. The interior play was far from good. Free throws became a running joke.

But these are correctable mistakes, and the infusion of new players is leading guys to try to figure out their roles. Defensive switches were a problem too. But again, coachable.

Gah, I had fun though. Sumner is just a freak.

Well, having read about the game here, the results certainly dont quell my anxiousness regarding the frontcourt.Hurry back Kaiser!

Going to be a lot of anxious moments when O'Mara, Gaston and Jones are shooting fts

i dont think the FT shooting of those 3 is something that is correctable. They just arent good FT shooters. Jones looked especially terrible from the line.

Obviously not over reaction time however it looks like what I thought may be true. I am of the belief that the success of this season will rest on the shoulders of KG. Sumner and Blueitt will get theirs... however that won't be enough against decent teams. KG is going to be the spoon that stirs the drink. Let's hope he isn't rushed but somehow finds a way to be 100% sooner rather than later

bobbiemcgee

Well if JP can shoot 100% all year, he may be the "go to" guy.

That's the spirit! There's a reason people who practice shooting free throws shoot them well. If Jason Love can become a good free throw shooter I don't believe it's out of the realm of possibility for any of those three. J Love's shot was far worse than any of them.

I despise Fox 19 but they actually have the one handed alley oop to Sumner...look where his head is in relation to the rim.

In the '06-'07 season, BJ Raymond shot 9-22 from the FT line for 41%. Jason Love was 4-14 from the FT line for 29%.

BJ shot 82% from the line in each of the following two seasons. Love shot 64% the following year, and 79% the year after that. Talk about improvement. Not everyone will improve their FT shooting like Jason did. That was phenomenal.

Friday night should give us a much better indication. Presumably a full building (instead of the exhibition crowd). Team looked rusty at times, but I didn't see anything that wasn't correctible.

The free throw stats of our bigs very concerning. Jones in high school 46%. Gaston at Norfolk State 51%. O'Mata at X 56%. Not sure this is all correctable

I noted the the attendance for last night's game was listed at 10,250 (current capacity of the Cintas for basketball). Perhaps those empty seats were purchased by season ticket holders and the walk-up made up the difference.

There were plenty of people dressed as empty seats in that case. I hesitate to say there were 6000? Although I didn't really look around the upper deck.

Harryfe

Talked to Greg Christopher and he said it was a sellout Obviously there were a lot of no shows. I wonder if they have ever had a sellout for an exhibition at Cintas?

Maybe they count filled seats the same way they count votes in Chicago - early & often.

Seats sold was definitely the announce attendance, but I would feel safe in saying there was close to 8500 in actual attendance. There was 6k for muskie madness and there were many more there for the game yesterday

Olsingledigit

I know I was out of town and two of my seat mates did not go. We are from Indy and normally do not go to the exhibition game. So that accounts for three empty seats.

Great job by X-Band bringing this thread back to the top in mid-March in anticipation of today's events.

By the way, according to the box score included in this thread, Hankins had 4 points and 5 fouls in 11 minutes against us.
