Xavier now moves to No. 5 in Scout's 2017 class rankings with the addition of Paul Scruggs. Two players ranked among top 40.

Mack & Co killing it as usual.

Xavier was a great program before it joined the Big East, but now it's on its way to becoming elite. Realignment has elevated perception.

Regardless of what you may think of him, that is a money quote right there.

Apparently Semaj wasnt eligible for their recruiting ranks for some reason (think he took a post grad year at a prep school?) wonder what he would have been ranked?

Scout had him in the high 20s during his prep year. ESPN chooses not to rank 5th year prep school guys I guess.

To paraphrase nuts4xu: "Giggity"

However this breaks my usual stance of not paying attention to recruits until they're on campus.

Let's Go X!!!!

Best part of this news is that I'm excited, but not "blown away."

The Big East has changed this program so much for the better.

reading quotes from Scruggs, he calls himself a sg as he knows this year he loves and has a gift for driving to the basket. He says he needs to work on his shot and learn pg responsibilities.
He is a scorer who drives amazingly.

Awesome get! Love Naji videos too as he looks amazing.

Loving this! Congrats to Paul and the whole men's team. I think this class should be special.

Just think we may have the services of Sumner, Quinton and Scruggs at the point next season. Opposing points won't stand a chance.

Actually, I believe in recruiting it was important for him to be considered a PG. Do they have blurred lines? Yes, but I think PG is his focus. He does need to improve his jumper, but the guy sounds like a stud and I'll let the team figure all this out.

The only way Sumner is on the team next year is if he get hurt or has a truly awful season. But Scruggs, Gooden, and Marshall back there will be absolutely fun.

No. He can play anywhere from a 1 to a 3 and maybe a 4 if you want to go small. He has no position really.

So I just watched him on some mix taped video's. I don't see a PG at all. Maybe spot duty if called upon. I also don't see a classic SG either. I really see a Justin Cage type player with better ball handling skills and better range. He looks like he'll be a great addition. I just don't see him at the 1 or 2.

Agree. My all time favorite player Cage was relentless and a all round team player.

“I know Naji (Marshall) well from AAU. We can build our chemistry together as a group and just perform on the court. I think we are a class that can get to the Final Four or win a national championship.”

No he won't play those positions (X really doesn't have positions anymore besides center) but he can play them.

So is this the whole class? (not meant in a bad way..like "is this IT??") Just making sure this is the accurate list. :)

Elias Harden SG 6-6 175 0.9246

That is accurate. I think at this point all of XUs big name targets are off the board, so this will likely be our 2017 class. That said, we still do have some open spots, so its not impossible that we would add another guy out of nowhere (similar to Kentrevious Jones.) The more likely scenario would be XU adding another transfer in the spring.

Absolutely love that Mack just keeps recruiting guys with length. Gone are the days of the small guard. He's getting athleticism and length that can get up and down the floor. His style of play that was so entertaining last year will be going nowhere

If Mack wants to go out and find another Drew Lavender, I'd be just fine with it.
