ESPNEvents - Tire Pros Puerto Rico Tip-Off Changing Venue of the 2016 Tournament (http://espnevents.com/puerto-rico-tip-off/press/tire-pros-puerto-rico-tip-off-changing-venue-2016-tournament/)

This is a development that Shannon Russell just tweeted - due to Zika Virus concerns in Puerto Rico, the tournament is going to be moved to Orlando and the Walt Disney complex (same facility as the Advocare Classic from last year).

That is going to make the event's title quite misleading.

I would be just a wee bit upset if I'd bought plane tickets.

Was close to pulling the trigger in tickets a couple of weeks ago

I suspect that ticket sales were low due to the concerns from fans.

Pretty lousy timing, too, the weekend before Thanksgiving.

I don't think there's ever been a tournament in Puerto Rico with high ticket sales, but this certainly cannot help.

I like it. We owned that joint last year. See avatar.

If they want Zika free why not move it to Minneapolis.

Loved the woman behind me shouting at Archie before the game: "TUCK IN YOUR SHIRT KID"

Lucky me ... I have a meeting in Gainesville on the 16th and 17th. Perfect for extending it over the weekend in Orlando.

Great venue, but I've never been there for more than big AAU events. Gyms and fields everywhere! Bucs held training camp there in blazing heat. Maybe i can sneak down and see a high profile hoops tournament.

GoMuskies, the timing is piss poor. They've known this for months and they announce it now. I bought my tickets in March so all I can do now is see if I can sandwich a flight from SJU-MCO-SJU during my time in PR which totally blows.

Very true. Even in 1998, with a field featuring Kentucky, UCLA, Maryland and Pitt, and playing in basically a high school gym, the place wasn't even a sellout. Pitt was good but we laid an egg against them. San Francisco wasn't that good and we still laid an egg against them.

very excited about Orlando; already locked this down with my travel agent King of Stubhub. Highly recommend to anyone who likes to see only the second half of games. An NYC repeat is in order and of course Kahn's is organizing a Marquette bus trip on February 18. Much appreciated.

Too bad you're not talking about current MLB playoff tickets.

I heard some Dodger fan paid $11,000 for two tickets behind the Cubs' dugout for Saturday's game. See your team get knocked out of the playoffs and you're out $11 K. What a pisser.

Sucks that they moved this from PR to Orlando. Was all booked for some Zika-filled action. Re-booked now to Orlando. Would enjoy the squad hoisting more hardware in the Milkhouse.

Never bring this up again. It was the only time in the last 40 years or so that X really had a good shot at playing UK. Then it all went bad. That was an awful tournament that year. It was; however, the NIT at MSG year and the Wake Forest Gardens game was epic, so the season is okay, but that tourney was awful.

We ended up in the NIT that year and you thought the season was okay?!? No, it was not okay. Not at all.

I have come to accept that in 1998, with Skip Prosser as coach, anytime X could win more than one tournament game was to be taken as a blessing. The one and done era was rough.

More than one game in ANY tournament I will take that to mean? Because our main man Skip only won one NCAA Tournament gave ever at Xavier. It was a glorious evening in Detroit and all, but it was definitely not enough. I prefer the way we do things now.

I need two tickets to this tournament...and I'm being cheap. Does anyone have any additional tix they will sell for below face? I'm not looking for a freebie, just something below face because so I can hit games as my schedule permits, I live in the area and won't be able to attend all games.

After reading the previews, every team except Oklahoma and Northern Iowa is terrible. I have conditioned myself to expect Xavier disaster from these tournaments, but will be rather disappointed if we do not leave Orlando with some nice souvenirs and three wins.

I know PaulXU won't want to hear this, but Clemson is not terrible. They actually have a decent shot at making the NCAA Tournament if they can find a way to get a few signature wins away from home. Blossongame is going to be one of the better players in the ACC this year.

Wow, Northern Iowa is hitting everything from 3. They seem to be passing and hitting their spots extremely well. Helps when you make the shots, but they are a pretty well oiled machine with more rebounds, assists, and steals.
