Anyone heard any updates on his status?

I feel like this one kinda got lost in the shuffle with the Myles news.

Is this one if those no news is good news situations or should we be looking for some type of announcement from either the school or a reporter?

The NCAA often takes a long time to come to decisions on this kind of stuff.

Really hoping this turns out okay. With the extreme uncertainty of Myles, losing Tyrique would put us down to 8 scholarship players with no room for injuries. How massive the Malcolm Bernard transfer has become for this team.

That's what i was afraid of.

Does anyone know the rule on partial qualifiers these days? I know the 2016 class was the first one with the new eligibility requirements, but i can't remember if it included doing away with partial qualifiers.

Interesting. Thanks for the update.

It's pretty cool that the program is such that when guys do have to pay their own way they do so in most cases. Tuition ain't cheap.

Agreed on the Bernard transfer although I do still think Myles makes it back to the team.

I just find it hard to believe cooler heads won't prevail.

Makinde, maybe, but I don't see a way that Larry's minutes were substantially increasing.

I don't know exactly how the official rule is written but I believe the NCAA has made changes and now allows an "Academic Redshirt" which seems to at least somewhat fit the old definition of "Partial Qualifier" so that the player still be on scholarship and not have to pay out of pocket.

I was told that whether he is eligible or not, there is no concern at all that Tyrique will not be on scholarship.

And barring any changes, Marcus LoVett will be on St. John's active roster this year as a freshman.

If this is the NCAA's make up call for Posey, Lyons, Reynolds, Davis, et al then I'll take it. Let's get Myles back then I'll call it even although his case appears to be in-house and not involving the NCAA.
