Trevon enters his Third Season as a Musketeer with 920 points. T.J. Johnson is the "lowest" member of the 1000 Point Club at 1,021 points (over four seasons). If he duplicates his point total from last season he will be safely inside Xavier's Top 20 for scoring. Trevon has started 66 games in his Musketeer Career. If he were to keep that pace (33 starts per year) he would finish tied for 5th on Xavier's all time list.

I think Trevon is poised for a break out year. Thoughts?

I think that he will improve and keep that pace and ppg average. I don't look for him to increase his ppg because we have become a program solid at each position with good scoring distribution, like most of the elite programs.

I've been trying to place a player comparison for Blueitt since he arrived here. Trevon reminds me a lot of BC's Jared Dudley years ago. He's a little smaller than the Junkyard Dog was and maybe not as aggressive, but is more of a knockdown shooter that JD at this point in their career. Their style of play / how they use their body has a fairly strong resemblance in my opinion. If he continues to pace, I expect big things from Blueitt his junior year. No reason he can't be on the short list of best scorers in the conference.

WITH THIS TEAM, There aren't enough balls or shots available for Trevon to increase his PPG. Which is just fine with me. I'd be happy if his
Defensive footwork and speed improves enough to neutralize teams like Nova. That's how we'll get to a Final Four.

It will be an interesting year for him, I think. I hope the team devises more plays to get him open instead of hoping he can create his own shot.

He'll be giving himself pressure to score more, if anything just to be that guy, but also to show NBA scouts he can take over. I think opposing teams will focus on him even more so this year with the changes in our front court. These two factors could mean his efficiency falls.

Perfectly understandable, but that could ripple to hurting younger players who might not score as easily as he can, even when that balanced attack is in full effect.

Hopefully, he tries to not worry about scoring the whole time and improves his defense, as it will likely have a bigger impact on wins. He has been decent on that end of the floor, improving certainly, but still not his strong suit.

And I realize how negative that last post sounds, but trying to be realistic. I really do think Bluiett is a great college player. He's such a talented scorer, in a workman sort of way. He should have extreme confidence with his teammates and abilities this season, which could mean some excellent basketball is in store!

Bluiett is a very focused individual. He has improved his body immensely from HS to freshman year, freshman year to sophomore year and I think we can expect the same this year. His defense improved from freshman year to sophomore year as well. He may never be an elite defender but he has improved each year. I expect his in-conference offensive production to be 2-3 points better than last year.

Everything I've heard has indicated that Bluiett is determined to go pro after this year, so you'd expect him to come into the season fully focused and motivated. As others have said, I think it will be tough for him to increase his PPG but if he can get a bit more efficient and better defensively that should be really all we need out of him.

I really wonder what NBA people told him during the evaluation period. I'm not an NBA scout, but to me Tre has a lot to work on to make an NBA roster. He is a great college player, and love having him be a member of the Xavier family. However, unless he suddenly gets quicker, and better at handling the ball, his position in the league is at the 3 where his height would be a pretty big detriment. Maybe he just wants to get his professional career started and whereever he ends up, he ends up, and I can't fault him for that.

Going pro is not synonymous with making the NBA anymore. I agree...Tre doesn't have NBA talents, but definitely good enough to play professionally.

Exactly. There are a lot of kids who just dont enjoy the school part of school and are ready to make money professionally regardless of where that may be. I'd obviously love him to stay but I'll never knock a kid for doing what he feels is best for him.

I still think Tre has a chance to make a roster. Guy is one of the most talented players X has ever had. Yes, he would currently be in between positions and that would be to his disadvantage. However, NBA still finds value in other areas. His offense still speaks for itself and he's a knock down shooter and in today's NBA, being able to spread the floor with shooters is vital. He obviously would need to become better defensively and get a quicker first step but those are all things he can work on. If he can find a niche, he can make it. I find it hard to believe he would be on the short list of players along with Edmond invited to the Nike Skills Academy if they didn't think he had a chance to make it

Agreed, considering his focus and work ethic.
