With David West potentially retiring, we're in jeopardy of not having any NBA players for the first time since 1990 (Hill , Grant, Posey, West, with Crawford/Brown sprinkled in for a few years). Not that it's the biggest deal, but it's always fun to have guys to follow/teams to cheer for. Here are the guys who are most likely to be on an NBA roster in 2016-2017.

David West
(7/5/2016) West signs with Golden State

Semaj Christon
Participating in the 2016 NBA summer league with the OKC Thunder.
(7/14) Invited to Thunder training camp

Jordan Crawford
Attended a Pistons FA mini camp earlier in the summer, but not on a summer league roster. Is participating in 'The Tournament' with brother Joe and some other UK alumni,

Derrick Brown
Per international basketball analyst David Pick, NBA teams have been making calls despite his $400k Turkish buyout.

Drew Lavender will be in TBT again this summer. Always fun to have X guys in that tourney.

Would love to see D West play for the Cavs. Looks like they have 3.5 mil to offer. That would be hard to walk away from that. I am sure he is set financially but still....

We need one more year of DWest to hold us over for Sumner's arrival!

West has been forgoing a lot of money the last two years in favor of a chance to win. The Pacers were really hurting in terms of inside presence, particularly power forward, so if he had stayed, they would have been better, but still, they would have just been one of the better non-contenders in the NBA.

Golden State is getting such a rare situation of all the stars aligning with this roster. Is it unfair or just rewards for drafting and developing stars who win?

When I heard they let Bogut go, and are likely leaving Ezeli to roam…well I thought who else can they get now that might be decent?

Never imagined that they'd get two utter work horses in Pachulia and West for next to nothing. Both guys could be earning much larger paychecks.

Even with all of these stellar moves, a championship is not a given. But you have to sit and admire how this is all looking on paper. They friggin' upgraded their front line for less money. (Not counting Durant's money, of course, but he's more of a 3 man.)

D-West to the Warriors. Good for him.

I don't like GS. Haven't for a few years now- I suppose if they win it this year at least West gets a ring which is cool and I'd be happy for him. A decent silver lining. I still don't want them too, though.

I haven't had any reason to dislike GS, but I don't follow the NBA that closely. Now, Draymond Green sucks at life, which I was surprised to learn this postseason, but I don't have any issues with anyone else on the team (Curry needs to get his wife off Twitter, but he seems fine himself).

So I don't follow the NBA closely but when was the last time a team had 5 players who have been All-Stars as their starting 5? (I know that not all 5 were All Stars last year, but 4 out of 5 were)
PG - Curry
SG - Thompson
SF - Durant
PF - Green
C - West

I would be shocked if DWest started for GS.

Yeah there is no way he starts for them. I'd guess they'd either go small with Curry-Thompson-Iguodala-Durant-Green or more traditional with Curry-Thompson-Durant-Green-Pachulia.

West won't be starting.

As for your question, off the top of my head, the mid-2000's Pistons came close when Billups, Hamilton and both Wallace's all made the all-star team.

edit - Late 2000's Celtics and Lakers teams that came close with 4. (KG/Allen/Pierce/Rondo and Kobe/Pau/Artest/Bynum). Also this past years Spurs team with Leonard/Aldridge/Duncan/Parker (West and Ginobili on the bench as well). So basically lots of teams came close with 4 starters that were all-stars, can't think of any with 5. At least in the last 25 years or so.)

Last year the Hawks had 4 starters on the all star team- though mostly because they had such a great record.

Forgot about last year's Hawks.

Mid to late 80's Celtics had a starting lineup of Ainge/Johnson/Bird/McHale/Parrish, all of whom made at least one ASG at some point in their career. So I'm going with that for the answer of BlueBlob06's question.

Ainge is a stretch but he did make once in 1988

Thanks all. I showed my ignorance by assuming West would start. My thinking was, "He's got an X on his shoulder, start the man!" Haha. Hope he gets a ring next year.

After about 15 minutes on Basketball Reference I don't believe any team has ever had more than 4 players make the All Star team in one year, but 4 has been done several times by multiple franchises. Golden State does have a lot of players who have been on All Star teams before once you add in West and Iguodola to the four that made it last season.

Tu will be playing in the NBA Vegas Summer league, but not for a specific team, he'll be on a roster made up of D-League players.

Depending on whether the Suns are playing next weekend, I might make my way up to Vegas to catch them and the rest of the weekend games.

I posted an eerily similar post to yours on the Scout site this morning--to the point where I would have been convinced I had damned near plagiarized your post. I wish I had seen this one first because it would have saved me some research time.

I'm really hopeful that Sumner is our next long-term NBA talent.

Stan Kimbrough started the current streak of consecutive NBA seasons with an XU player in '89-'90. Either Tyrone Hill and David West have represented X in every NBA season after that.

XU players during that 27-year run include: Stan Kimbrough, Tyrone Hill, Derek Strong, Aaron Williams, Brian Grant, Larry Sykes, Michael Hawkins, James Posey, Torraye Braggs, David West, Lionel Chalmers, Derrick Brown and Jordan Crawford.

OKC, I'm told, bringing Semaj Christon to vet-camp. He averaged 16/4/3 in Summer League, might've balled himself into a deal.

Looks like Derrick Brown buyout in Turkey might be a moot point.

Cameron Payne, OKC's backup PG, underwent surgery for a Jones fracture. Expected to be back for training camp, but any delays with the healing (KD's took longer than expected) - Semaj might get more of a chance to show what he's got.
