Anybody look into changing seat locations this coming season. Seems like a moot point since they are restacking the entire arena in another year or so but didn't know if people looked into it and if it was worthwhile or not.
Anyone attend any of the lunch and learn sessions about the mandatory location change? What info was provided?

I just went to one of these. I think there are going to be some very angry people when they learn they can't get their same seats which they have sat in the last 15 years, particularly people who still have existing contracts for their seats.
That said, there are some cool things they are going to do- like build a new sports bar.
Wait a shit, what is going on?

I met with one of the Cintas seat selection people in Athletics to voice my concerns as well as find out how (or if) I could do anything to increase the chances that that a bunch of us could stay together. I found out that I am in excellent shape to keep or even improve my two seats because I have more than double the average point level for people in my section. But my friends are in trouble because they are well below the average point total for our section. So how this plays out remains in flux. And the explanation as to why they are doing this continues to make little sense; it seems to be purely a money grab as I see it. But here is the link to see what the average point totals are for various sections of Cintas. So by looking up your Musketeer point level, you can see how you stack up against "the competition". Isn't it always a money grab?

We put one on here in Indy. It was very well done and answered many questions. If one is in your area and you have concerns. I suggest you go.

Welcome to big time college athletics...Xavier is now in this stratosphere and in some cases that is going to slightly suck. However, I think we all can agree that this is what we want Xavier to be for better or worse. If you or those around you get upset and decide they are not going to renew, the reality is that someone else will take those seats whether in the form of a single person or a corporate deal.

If this gets ridiculous, I will just do a 6 pack and use my son's free seats.

One way around that is that you can buy up to 4 tickets. So two of your buddies can give you their money and you can pay for their seats.

I know that. Unfortunately, I have 4 people right behind me who all are "in trouble". I can only help 2 of them, and that means choosing among them.

I suspect you and your friends aren't the only ones in this situation. It sucks, and this should have been handled differently.
Your alternative, as suggested by XU, is for you to pick seats with your buddies who have lower scores than you, and all of you probably end up sitting in worse seats.
So what is the point of this exactly? My family has had season tickets for as long as I can remember, and now somebody can take our seats?

Depending on a variety of factors, the most important being how much money you or the owner of your seats has donated, you will be assigned points. The more points you have, the sooner you are permitted to select your seats. Someone with higher points could select your seats before you do.

My enormous point total will allow me to pick from any number of 1st row seats...at the bar in Dana's.

There have been many upgrades over the years. Bathroom scheduled for re-model in 2039.

Can the Lew Hirt Society buy a stool? We could probably scrape up enough to have the name painted on the stool.

I went to one of the meetings a few months ago but had to leave early. I did not know you could see how you stack up against others in your section / seat level. Originally, I was not too happy. Now, it appears that my Musketeer point total is more than double the average in my area. Feeling a little better.

Seems pretty stupid. By all accounts we should have enough points to keep our seats. But feels icky prioritizing cash over loyalty.

This again, just when I had put it out of my memory.
Being the curious person I am, I looked at the chart you referred to, and went to My Musketeers to check my point total. I am the proud owner of 173 Muskie points. When the arena is reseated, my current seats wouild fall into the Yellow section. Accordign to this table:
Where do i stand?
Musketeer Points Per Section
Courtside – 7,055
Joseph Club Living Room Seats –4,003
Front Line –1,644
Lookout – 1,097
Green – 805
Orange – 449
Yellow – 167
Blue – 55
The corresponding numbers outline the estimated amount of Musketeer Points an account would need to select seats in each section as of May 19, 2016. These estimations are based on each account selecting an average of 2.5 seats.
The esitmated point total required to be in the yellow zone is 167. I am just scraping by. So I'll still have a nice seat if things play as they should, but I'm going to be one of the last to pick of the Prem II (Yellow) people.

I'm moving up. Decided to jump to row C, 201. Joining the donation crowd, ha ha. That said, I may be promptly shuffled back to non-premium after the re-seating next season, given I only have 9 Musketeer points...

Here's a question. If your father has had seats since the 50's in Schmidt and has maintained those seats since then, can he bequeath those seats and points to the next of kin so that the seats remain in the family? Is this possible? I have my own, but when the time comes (hopefully a long way off), I think it would be right to allow me to move into the seats I grew up in. Does this make sense? Does anyone have any idea?

The sad thing is that I do not believe that this is the only time they will do this. You are going to have to maintain your points, and maintain them in relation to other fans, or I think we will just go through this again. This is just the first readjustment. Try to ask them how long this seat assignment will last before you sign the contract. Know full well what you are getting into brothers.
Xavier Basketball is a property of Learfield Sports.
The great thing for those uptop is that seats are still dirt cheap, and they are still running a special where if you sign up for a new seat you get $100 rebate. I think the cheapest seat is $232. I am offering my friends $100 that they will rebate to me next year just to get it going. $132 for a season ticket is incredible.
I am hoping to get 8-10 people in my posse, because I am a man that needs a posse.
So if you get frustrated, come uptop. Cintas has matured over the years. Can't say enough about the students making it a great environment. I love it uptop and I take my kids to every game, have been doing that since I brought them in the stroller. They are hard core Xavier fans.
Several Xavier legends on this board have met me up top, and if you are ever in town for a game just tell me and come on up. We stand behind the last row and raise hell. I don't think I could sit after all these years of jumping and high fiving all my friends.
I would like to thank MOR, and all the other Donors for supporting Xavier Basketball, a property of Learfield Properties. Because you pay those exorbitant rates, I get to watch the game in relative comfort and ease. You guys are subsidizing my Xavier Experience, and I am proud to be the welfare mom that gets the same experience at your expense.
An honestly, we were a top 5 team in the rankings last year. We have a mother load of talent and experience coming back. They have to strike while the iron is hot. And strike they will. Pay the man!

I am not sure I believe this but I was told in the meeting that I arranged with Athletics about all this, after meeting with the AD to express my concerns, that (1) this is a one-off, and that it will not happen again (or at least the forseeable future...my interpretation), (2) the "seat license" amounts will not change (with my same interpretation as (1)), (3) this procedure was necessitated by the changes to the lower rows in the lower bowl, and was modeled after the reseating processes used by other schools (many of whom do it frequently; Marquette does it annually, I was told), and (4) this decision was made and designed by Athletics; Learfield Sports had nothing to do with it. I hope this is all true because this is a horrible process, badly designed, and likely to poison the water for a lot of long-time fans.
And Snipe, I am happy to subsidize your Cintas experience. Because of my position at Xavier, I could have free seats for every game. I chose to instead buy (increasingly) expensive seats to both improve my game experience and to support the program. You should buy me a beer every game up at D'Artagnan's Deck as a way of saying "thank you".

UpTop is pretty awesome, if for nothing else than the Snipe Experience, which many times includes Kahns and Freddy Garvin at no additional charge.
Fact is though that Snipester is up there primarily for A) The close proximity of the beer bar, B) The King is able to stand high upon his throne and look out over his Domain and rule over all he surveys. C) There is zero security up there so he can get away with all kinds of shenanigans, tomfoolery and hijinks.
I'm convinced that Snipe's ultimate goal is to start a successful "Top Down & Back Up" wave cheer. Screw those go around the arena waves. Those are so played.
Some day........
