Summer League 2016

Looking for news or details on this year's summer league. City Gear has nothing on their site about it. Perhaps they are no longer the sponsor.

Kind of jonesing to see our local players and know the games should be starting soon. Especially looking forward to seeing how players like Gaston and Sumner look heading into this season.

Yeah, I'm a scaredy cat, and I kinda hope some of ours have. That Brandon Cole story freaked me out. I know this is different, but still.....

These guys are playing basketball every day. They're no more likely to get injured in a summer league game than they are in a pickup game at Cintas.

I think it also had to do with not caring for the coaches.

I am completely aware of that, and I don't remember any injuries from the summer league. And it still scares me! I never claimed to be a fully rational human being.

On a more humerous note, there was a long standing HS summer league in SW FL my sons played in. One son had some "issues" he was working through, and liked the idea that you could not foul out in the summer league. He caused the rule to be changed. He is much better now, thank God!

I tried finding out about it a few days ago, and couldn't find anything. Maybe Summer League jumped the shark that first summer we saw Yancey and Kenny?

yeah a couple months back i saw that it was now called Friars - The League. Guess the City Gear sponsorship didnt last long.

Its lost its luster from several years ago. You never know when or if player is going to show up.

I could have sworn Kaiser Gates was playing in that second game. I do not see him listed in the box score, so I'm wondering what's the deal.

I was hanging out with a couple other guys who both agreed it was Gates.

Today's ball looked pretty sloppy. I didn't see much to report.

Jalen Reynolds was the king of summer league- he'll be taking his talents to the highest level- the NBA summer league in a few weeks and I for one, cannot wait.
