So, the original deal was roughly $11 billion for 14 years. It has now been extended by an additional 8 years and an additional $8.8 billion.
If you do the math, that's $19.8 billion for 23 years.
If you do the math still further, and factor in the 67 tournament games a year, it comes out to an average of just over $12.7 million per tournament game between 2010 and 2032. That is the average. That means the opening round/play in games are included in that.
Two words come to mind....
HOLY SHIT!!!

i hope they show the Final 4/Championship games on CBS instead of TBS or TNT. Just seems better when it is on broadcast television and not cable

It's the same broadcast no matter who shows it. It's just available to more people when it's on CBS. One of the reason the money is so high is because of Turner. I think they get the championship game every other year.

Not exactly related to the NCAA Tournament, but it is media related: http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Closing-Bell/2016/04/19/Big-Ten.aspx FOX on the verge of picking up some Big Ten rights to beef up their college basketball and football lineup.

One downside is that we'll probably have a 3-hour Selection Show in the future.

Wait, so would they delegate it to FOX Sports, because FOX Sports has Big 12 Football right now, and obviously Big East basketball, would that affect anything going on right now with us? (No I was too lazy to read the article if it was answered in there)

Despite starting about 9:30 on a Monday night! There MUST be a better way! I'm sure they've looked at this from every possible angle and are making every possible cent they can.....but there MUST be a better way! Screw the west coast folks (and I mean that in the nicest possible way), but I don't live there!

They will make it a 4 night extravaganza, one night for each region. Hey, why not?

There is. It's called Final Four on Thursday and the Final on Saturday OR Final Four on Friday night and the Championship Sunday evening at 7ish. Why they refuse to do this makes no sense to me, but it must to the money people or they would not continue.

I hate to tell you this, but a few years back I think they kicked around the idea of moving two Elite Eight games to Monday night. They obviously didn't, and they likely won't, but they love that Monday night time slot.

I don't know why they don't do the Thursday- Saturday schedule. I can barely stay up to watch the Monday night game and I am sure as hell not going to bar to watch it work the next day. No one I have ever talked to likes the current set-up.

If they did that, which they never will, you'd be staying up much later on Thursday night.

Thursday I can handle. Monday not so much. My Mondays are brutal. I get twice the workload on Mondays. Regardless, the Monday night schedule is BS and ridiculous IMO

I don't know what to tell you. The people who are paying over a billion dollars a year want it on Monday. I suppose you could call them and explain that your Mondays are brutal. In fact, I think you should do that! And be sure and tell us how that goes!

I've been saying that for years, but the NCAA still refuses to put me in charge!

You're not nearly corrupt enough to be in charge of the NCAA. I hear Sepp Blatter has a lot of free time on his hands these days.

If I were in charge, college basketball would be more fair, more awesome, and much more to my personal liking!!!

That would be the year of the Thursday-Saturday lineup although BYU in the Final Four is a stretch. In any year. Although they are a fun team to watch.
