View Full Version : Cincinnati Trivia

OK, needed a place to ask for some trivia help, and it can be used for stuff like this in the future.

I'm madly searching to find the name of a bar, that was in business in at least the mid-to-late 70's (maybe longer).
It occupied the space/building that now houses Hang Over Easy in what we use to call the Short Vine area.

Back then there was a restaurant on Vine called In Cahoots, and after eating there we could roll down the little hill to the bar on the corner.
The bar had (I'm pretty sure) an etching in the window of a skyline of a city (think Cintas' court). Since I was not always completely sober, the etching may have been on the mirrored glass behind the bar/or both. It's hazy to say the least.

Any ideas what the bar was called?

I know before it was Hang Over Easy, it was The Holy Grail

Did not know that.
But I'm thinking back in the 70's. Just can't remember the damn name.
Getting old.

Stitches or Chicago Joes?

Nope. (then again, I'm hoping I'll recognize the name if somebody hits on it. That may be wishful thinking.)

Hi Rise? Which I think later became Kilgour's?

used to do wednesdays on a side street off of short vine. It was nurse's night and Bob Shreve was the bartender. I think it had the etched glass, but I can't remember the name!

Double Deuce

Edit: First person to get the reference without cheating and looking it up I'll buy you a beer at the Cintas Center next season. Obviously I won't know if you cheated or not, so honor system.

never mind.

Good luck if you can look it up somehow. I've exhausted my patience trying to find it somehow online.

Don't think it's any of those mentioned so far.

And I'll certainly by a beer for the winner. My friends and I (who actually use to go there) are going nuts trying to come up with the name.

Still not ringing any bells. I've sent the ones you have noted to by buddies to see if they recognize one of them as being it.

Driving us crazy!

No winner yet (I don't think).

'87, thanks for trying. I remember a lot of those; Shipley's, Mug Club, etc.
But I'm all hung about this one and can't seem to nail it down.

Purely trivia research, I'm sure.

Where is that? Are they still around? I think I have a degree on my office wall from there.

Damn Bobbie. Dollar Bills? Hah!
It was on Short Vine I think.

One of these days some of the older guys will wander back on here and answer this. I bet Q knows. Hope he's doing OK.

Or, just maybe there's something on their wall from me. I can't be sure! But I'm pretty sure my parents paid the bills for several years.

Frambo, don't think that was it.
I'm doubling checking all these suggestions with my friends in Cincy who are trying to figure it out with me.
We use to go there all of the time, and now old age has got us down in the memory department.

Paul, I think it's brave of you to be so public with this senior moment.

KC4X, lots of memories in that article, and the one about Mt Adams. But no luck.

Xeus, I'm way past the point of being embarrassed any more.
