Archie's phone will be ringing this year. Who's calling? Which call does he answer?

I thought they made the Wisconsin guy permanent, but I'm not positive. I say Dayton as I don't see a great option. Louisville won't open.

Since it's a poll, and in the spirit of such, I say there should be an option for Little Mick to coach Snipe's kids next year.

Yes, he signed a 5 year deal.

Yes, he signed a 5 year deal.

That was a plan that worked to perfection with the early resignation.

Investigation will show Pitino lied his ass off. UL still won't fire him, but he resigns citing "needs more time with hookers."

Rick Pitino: can pay for the 15 minute rate, doesn't have to worry about watching the clock?

From what I've heard, Pitino doesn't need much time at all with the hookers. Oh, maybe you meant that....never mind.

I doubt UNC opens up, Roy Williams (not a huge fan of him) but he's a classy guy, and I think for what he's done at UNC they let him stay as long as he wants.

First off, I think he's gone. Like his brother, he's been at ud for five years and that may be the unwritten commitment he had with them. Second, he's brought ud as far as he can. Wins regular season A-10 tourney, third year in a row to NCAA tourney and good regular season success. However, there isn't anywhere else to go at this point with the program. If memory serves me correctly, he didn't make the NCAA in his first two years, made it to Elite 8 his first year and one and done the last two years. Though I have a different thought about where he'll go. My thought is that Painter may be out at Purdue and they will go hard after him. If not, he will go to some other program, probably UL if Pitino gets the gate. In any event, he will not he ud's HC next year. Hey, if Bobo fires Gregory, maybe he'll go back to ud.

Probably right Vee. I voted Dayton, just because I don't see where he has a good option - yet. The "yet" is the key. He's not as hot as he was, but still better than where he is. Openings will happen, and the money will be right. Bye bye!

That would be like Ray to Joey Meyer. Minnesota has ended the chance for that to happen.

I'm guessing that Miller may have missed a chance at a better gig. After the E8 run with some good transfer play, his own recruits have gone the other way.
Combined with some institutional control challenges, and bad player decisions, his stock may have dropped somewhat in the last 2 years.

Even Joey Meyer had some success in the NCAA Tournament with DePaul before eventually imploding. That's if you don't take into consideration some of their wins that were eventually vacated by the NCAA.

Richard Pitino is on a completely different planet than Joey Meyer ever was.

I said Dayton too, for this reason, pretty much. I do agree Archie's value has peaked and is diminishing. The only thing I would add is, he still has a bit of a name and will probably get on a list or two. Someone offering a 'lateral move' or even slightly lower move throwing a bunch of money at him, and if he is smart enough (a big if) to recognize he is not likely to get a better offer any time soon (and spins it as "accepting a challenge") he could leave...but I don't see it happening.

I can't figure out if you think Richard is on a different planet than Joey in a good or bad way. They're both pretty awful.

New "rumblings" that Jamie Dixon may be looking at the TCU job. Would Archie take the Pitt job?

Would Sean take the Pitt job?

One of them would absolutely take the Pitt job- espcially now that it's ACC. Book would be back east, where he can REALLY recruit.

By the way. If Dixon is smart, he'll run to another job right now. I believe that there are rumblings in Pittsburgh about the disappointing finishes that the Panthers have had under Dixon.

Archie Miller has to be considered one of the best young coaches in college basketball. What he's done at Dayton is nothing short of remarkable. He will get plenty of looks this offseason.

True, but he would have been a hotter property coming off a deeper run. It's a matter of degrees. And dollars.

Would have been hotter compared to who?

He's gonna get big time offers.

It's a matter of where he wants to coach at this point.

It's not "who", but when. Come out of nowhere and go to an elite eight and you're a smokin' hot property. The "where" is always a question, but the best jobs go to the hottest guys.

I'm in the camp of being impressed by some of the things Miller has done at Dayton, but not "wowed" by them.
E8 run was very good, with some of Gregory's talent and some transfers.
Since then, in a league where they should dominate with Xavier, Butler and Temple gone, they are doing well...but seemingly headed backwards.
The player problems signal some question marks I would think.
Good coach yes, but not the second coming. I would be very surprised if he landed some really big job. Just don't think he has proven consistently over a long enough period that he belongs in the upper echelon yet.

Interesting point. I think it was Brew who has said that with Dayton's relative resources, they should be absolutely dominating the A-10 now that Xavier, Butler and Temple are gone.

Any chance he would go to UC if YTG really left? (I don't think YTG will) Or is the AAC a step down from the A-10?

SM#24

I think the competition / level of play is the same between A10 & AAC. However, I think AAC schools in general have more resources to pay a coach more. So, I would say as far as an A10 to AAC move: basketball-wise same, better money in AAC.

Guys, you have to know that NO ONE that's worth a shit wants to coach in the AAC.

They'll get a retread or young guy who's looking to move up.
