Special congratulations also goes out to former Xavier assistant women's coach Mike Neighbors; the Huskies upset Stanford today and advanced to their first Final 4 in program history. I didn't realize they also have the leading scorer in women's hoops; they'll play either Syracuse or Tennessee in the Final 4 in Indy next weekend.

Remember when it was down to Waugh and Mike Neighbors as candidates when McGuff left to go to Washington? Seems like a million years ago now. We all know how that turned out. This program is miles away from what it used to be. Blame whomever you want.. McGuff (bad recruiting at the end), Waugh (poor coach), injuries, whatever.

The team did improve slightly over last year, but it wasn't near as much as I'd hoped for. The seven game losing streak at the end wasn't good and took quite a bit of luster off things. The team still regularly gets blown out against anyone decent.

I know Coach Neal came in in a difficult situation, but as some point we will have to see some significant improvement. Recruiting doesn't look good. I'd love to know what our AD is thinking right now.

Washington also beat #2 seed Maryland in College Park and #3 seed Kentucky in Lexington before knocking off Stanford. It's been a pretty good run by Coach Neighbors's team.

I've been thinking the same thing. Women's ball more so than the men really relys on recruiting and we haven't really gotten the talent in the last few years to seriously be a contender for the Big East or the national stage at all like we once were. Even though our records have improved the schedule has been very weak. This years non conference schedule was really a joke. The only team we played that was decent was Michigan and they completely blew us out. I watched Mike Neighbors win today and was very happy for him, but still can't believe we didn't choose him a few years back. I supported Amy Waugh of course but in hindsight I think it was a mighty big mistake.
