I was not pleased with our effort in the first half; but I was very pleased how we closed the game out.

The stats are incredible for this game:

X 35% SH 52% Hard to overcome that.
We took 83 shots; they took 56. Crazy.
We had 28 offensive RB; more than crazy.
Same number of fouls; but they took 8 more foul shots. (although the 1-1 scoring may be a factor there)
BUT...17 for 27 from the line is as big a killer as the crappy overall shooting.

The Big East is a monster. We wanted this, not the A10. We've got it. It's going to be like this for a long time.
You don't bring your A game...you lose.

Now it's crunch time. I've been waiting a long time to see a team that has the capability we showed against Nova.
We play like that, we can play with anybody in the country.

He also needs to remember that Trevon is the best scorer on the team and find him on breaks. He missed Trevon wide open in transition at least 3 time tonight because he was hell bent on taking the ball to the rim.

They were tougher, more motivated and they didn't mind rubbing our noses in dog crap. We got punched in the face and we gave a tepid response. Some of the lineup arrangements last night were abominable too, and we paid big time for it.

I hope the staff shows this tape to the team and goes over every thing- especially the way Delgado took pride in laughing in their faces. Use this as shoulder chip material boys because it's not worth much else. Just an embarrassing performance.

Ed also took 23 shots last night and only made 7. He can't do that as a PG. i would have been ok with Trevon doing that. This team is much better when ED picks his spots and is a pass first guy.

The passing and ball movement so crisp, clean and methodical against Marquette was PATHETIC. Hesitant, unsure, lazy, telegraphic - almost the complete opposite of the night before.

They just plain-old sucked! No two ways about it. They played like they just didn't care, that's what was really disappointing...until the last two minutes or so, I wondered if I was watching the same team I had watched for most of the year (as recent as the day before!!!!).

What is really amazing, despite all of that (and the stupid, crazy tech/flagrant calls) if they had spent ONE MORE MINUTE of the game with that kind of passion...

This is a great question. I assume Butler has a match up that's tough for Seton Hall. All about match ups in March.

I think Seton Hall has the horses to solve the "how do you stop Xavier's offense" questions we've seen so frequently in articles. In the locker room before the game Willard highlighted that he wanted 55 tipped passes. Not steals, not break-always, just tips. They have the athletic ability to rush our offense and force sloppy play. Many of those tips turned into turnovers, and they attacked quickly. Our transition D is pretty darn bad. That's the best way to beat us. Even with all that we were able to save-face in the final score.

It's a hard style to duplicate.

So hats off to Seton Hall. They are a "match up" problem for us.

That being said. I hate them. Willard doesn't deserve BE COY, Whitehead needs to have his face adjusted, and Delgado needs to man up and stop pouting. I hope they're over their Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde nature and don't flame out in the tourney.
