Congrats and well done.
Well done! Especially for a guy who may or may not be the best 6th man on his own team!

And for years I thought the best things to come out of Minnesota were Husker Du and The Replacements.

Naturally, they are, but we still love J.P.

My roommate wrote for the Xavier Newswire and went to Bogart's to see the 'Mats and invited me. He interviewed Paul Westerberg after the show and he was barely coherent. Great show no less.

cant wait to see Macura the rest of this year and the next 2. Going to end up being a big scorer for us the next couple seasons.

Props to JP for this award. He could have split it with Top Jimmy but still well deserved. It will be a lot of fun watching this class progress through their careers.
Great time to be a Muskie fan!

All I know is that I tweeted a congratulations to JP with his nickname "MACrowave" in the tweet and he "liked" it.
That means tons to me, but I have low self esteem.

Bill Self wins coach of the year. Disappointing Mack didn't get it, but Bill Self could probably win it every year. Personally, I think he might be the best coach in college basketball. Self, K, Izzo and then everyone else.

Does this mean Big Game James is 7th man of the year?

Yes, but he's been viciously good in the regular season and has still won a title, been runner-up, made 3 elite eights and two sweet sixteens so he's really still performing better than almost every other coach. If he wins that other title game he's been better than coach K in the last 13 years. He's been pretty good and I'd rather say it about bill self than coach k. Plus he's only been there since 03 not 80

and he's only lost 9 games at home. i mean some of the stuff kansas has done while he's been there has been outrageous. 12 straight conference titles? holy hell
sorry to derail the thread i'm just always amazed Bill Self doesn't get mentioned more often
still absurd Chris Mack didn't win it this year. congrats to jp

Yeah, I can't complain about Self. I might disagree personally, but overall, its a good choice.
Mack had earned himself quite a bit of $$$$ this season (in terms of future comp). He can dry his tears with $100 bills.

yeah i would have liked to see Mack win it, and he was deserving, but Self was also deserving of it. tough to pick just 1 coach of the year

Yes all true. It is amazing they have won 12 straight in a really good basketball conference.
Self has had the highest of highs and some of the biggest upsets in the tourney.

Those have been by far their worst seasons in his tenure, which is impressive as it is. Who has been better since 2003 every single year? I don't think anyone. He has them as national title contenders every year. This year for X, every year for 13 years. Just crazy.
Ahh can't wait for the madness

DeCoursey just gave the Sporting News COY to Tubby Smith.
If it would have been YTG accomplishing what CMack has, it would be Decoursey giving it to the Leprechaun in a landslide.
Decoursey hates (or barely tolerates) X. Really.

From Banners on the Parkway:
The league's sportsmanship award was given to Kellen Dunham. JP was likely not mentioned in the conversation for that prize beyond someone making a play for a cheap laugh.

This vaunted conference he coaches in has had no national champions other than Kansas since 1953, and they've only been champs twice. They have a Ky, Duke type program, with not nearly as much to show for it. Just don't care for Kansas.
