I was invited to a professional luncheon on March 17 and I'm wondering how to RSVP, since Xavier could potentially be playing during the event.
Xavier will likely be seeded 1 (or 2 or 3—won't think any lower). Are the higher seeds always scheduled later in the day?
The event organizers actually said they will have tournament games on silently in the background, but I won't stand missing this first game (if they even play on Thursday).

We could play at any time during the day. #1 seeds sometimes play at noon. And #1 seeds sometimes play at 10 pm. I would bet Xavier as a #1 or #2 seed would get an off-prime time, because there won't be an audience for Xavier vs. a 15 or 16 like there is for the Dukes, Kentuckys, Kansases, and North Carolinas of the world.

Hell, even those latter examples usually get crappy time slots for the opening round game against 15 or 16 seeds, despite garnering more viewers than Xavier would.

Too bad selection Sunday is the same week as the event, as I should likely RSVP sooner. Otherwise, these luncheons are great for my networking and I'm interested in the speaker. (I think most here would be too!)

I will be in Augusta for Monday's practice round on NC Monday. Plan to finish a full day of golf watching with watching XU win the national championship. Best day ever.

My shitty school district I work at scheduled a half day PD on the afternoon of Thursday of March Madness.
You get docked pay if you skip.
It will be an expensive day, but fuck the man. I'll be sick.

It's also St. Patrick's Day, so there's a good chance you won't be lying.

I'll call it right now - Xavier will play day games in St. Louis (with Michigan State playing in primetime in St. Louis). Start planning accordingly.

Don't you people know by now you block off those two days on your work calendar WELL in advance of March? I usually do it before the season even starts.

I take them off every year. First chance I can get. My favorite two days off because the kids and wife are still busy and all I got is hoops. This year on St Paddys it could get ugly cause I might go out for some early libations

Ahhhh Lying to employers. That is the Jesuit way!
If you plan ahead of time, you use PTO for those 2 days. Don't lie or cheat!

I agree. St. Louis games are Friday Sunday, so I'm guessing an early start Friday game.

that makes a tougher road trip for sure, with Thursday-Saturday you could at least get Saturday. Man I hope we get to the second weekend and play at the Yum Center in Louisville.

Even if you were hoping for Thursday-Saturday games, the closest cities are Des Moines and Raleigh. Des Moines is almost certain to have Kansas and Iowa assigned there (because of mileage) and Raleigh will have North Carolina and either Virginia or Duke, depending on whoever is higher on the NCAA seed list. Duke would not go there if the season ended today, but if they win the ACC Tournament, I can easily see them getting a high enough seed to stay close to home in Raleigh.

You obviously don't know how teacher's unions work.
What is this "PTO" you speak of?
Teacher's union ===> you skip a "mandatory day" for any reason AT ALL (death of a family member included), you get docked.
Your union dues at work.

I tried to PM you but your box is full (leave that alone) - do you teach in the Plymouth-Canton School District?

PTO is payed time off. It's how my hospital works too. You get like 300 PTO hours. It counts as sick days, holidays and vacation days. They usually carry over up to a certain amount.

It's reasonable to assume that Xavier - not a national TV draw - will be out of prime time. It's also reasonable to assume that we'll be in STL.

Awesome - I don't know your friend personally. Big district and I don't know many elementary teachers since I'm middle school.
I live down next to Michigan Avenue in South Canton, Palmer/Sheldon are the nearest side streets!

i'm hoping we end up with a later game in St. Louis. I would rather have the late non-prime time than early, if thats the case
