While I would definitely call JP a gangsta, I can't compare him to Jason Williams, as he's no trailer park dwelling redneck.

As of right now seems more like a poor man's Larry Bird. PJ has what seems to be a tremendous basketball IQ and tons of upside. Sky is the limit with him.

I love JP. I have a saying ... "The play isn't over until JP says it's over!" I want to get a t-shirt made with this on it! His steal under the basket after Jenkins got a defensive rebound by simply taking (ripping) it out of his hands was an exact example of this. And Jenkins subsequently fouls out trying to stop the layup. I love this kid's attitude!

I think that he and Farr are the only serious candidates for 6th man of the year in the BE, that I can think of. Don't really care what you call him or them, just don't call them late to the team bus.

They are completely different players. Jason Williams is one of the best ball handlers of all time but pretty bad at everything else. JP is a much more well-rounded player. Now enjoy this video.

JP does have a swagger which I don't see in any other player. A rebound under the basket by an opposing player is never safe. He'll rip the ball away a la Jenkins or like last w/e against Gtown. He has incredible basketball I.Q. and he is tough as nails. I remember that ball in the face from Ole Miss. Had that happened to me I would've been bleeding for days. And when he twisted his ankle against Gtown in the BET last month. Dude came back like the eveready bunny. Any other college team which says they wouldn't want him is full of shit.

Jason Williams played the fancy basketball style, which reminds me of Pistol Pete. JP is more of the hustling type that gets in the opponents' nerves.

I invited my brother (who doesn't watch much anymore) to watch the Nova game with me. He was saying Macura plays a lot like Redford and I couldn't even muster the energy to explain how ludicrous that statement was. The ONLY similarity (besides skin pigment) is they both have a quick release on 3 pt'ers.

I see the comparison. Take Redford, and then give him about 5 inches of height and about 25 more pounds, make him a lot quicker and a lot more athletic and a lot more physical, give him much more ability to take the ball to the basket, and now you have Macura.

There's hardly a difference between the two (other than size, speed and athleticism.)

P.S. This is not a knock on Redford. Just a comment that there is little comparison between him and Macura.

You might need to add a little trash talking feistiness to the list. Just a tad. Or maybe a little more.

I do remember as a Junior or Senior Redford apparently got bumped on the noggin because he wandered inside the arc a few times. I LOVED him, but he never took it to the hole the way JP does, and I'm sure he'd be the first person to tell you that.

So white chocolate doesn't exist. It's a pale yellow vegetable fat which comes from a cocoa bean but isn't chocolate. More than half of what makes up "white chocolate" is made up of sugar and other sweeteners. LAJ could probably be compared to Tyson Brit just shorter and with a lighter pigmentation.

I've always said that James Posey looks a helluva lot like my best friend from grade school, who happens to be white. Their faces are almost exactly the same, and they're both tall and lanky with similar mannerisms. Comparing white dudes and black dudes is really quite easy when you stop and think about it.

That said, the player JP most reminds me of is Manu Ginobili - both between 6'5" and 6'6", scrappy, fast, serious bravado, tough defenders, quick hands, aggressively drive the lane, and have a good stroke. JP ain't Hispanic (do Italian Argentines count as Hispanic?), but he's a lot like Manu.

Macura plays NOTHING like Jason Williams. He'd need to really practice his ball handling to get close.

If we're comparing white players (kinda silly), I'd look more old school shooters and feisty defenders like Vinny Del Negro. But what do I know? Right?

Hmm. Not so much.

I actually see Larry Bird. Not the most athletic guy, but damn that dude knows where to be on the court, and fucking ice water in the veins

Really, what's the ceiling? BE first team as a senior? Or final 4 MOP as a soph even?

Macura is actually very athletic.

Caveat
02-26-2016, 10:47 PM
Macura is one of the most athletic players on the team -- he can shoot, blow by guys on the drive, contort his body to finish at the rim, and is also able to hammer it down above the rim. He's just OK on defense, but that's only because he doesn't have great instincts for moving on that side of the ball yet. He has the athletic ability to be a lock-down defender.

Macura is most definitely athletic. And just on Xavier's roster alone, Bluiett compares better to Bird.

Yes to (a), definitely No to (b). Aside from being from Indiana and having last names starting with B, not a good comparison. Just for starters, Bluitt around the basket is no Larry Bird. No knock on Trevon, Bird was Sui generis, one of a kind.

I would never call it a good comparison in the absolute sense, but if one can only choose players on Xavier's roster, I pick Bluiett before Macura.
