Ok folks. This one is special to me, and I hope to you as well.
Poster on this board, Always Learning, was the Xavier Sports Information Director for many years in the 1960's and 1970's and had that post when I was at XU. He had the job now held by Tom Eiser. AL is a Xavier grad, a contemporary of our Great Q, went on to a great career as the Media Relations/Marketing Director for the Houston Oilers..and he's been retired in Houston for a while. He is undergoing some major health issues at this time and all prayers and good wishes directed his way would be greatly appreciated.
AL has some of the best "old tyme" stories about the innards of Xavier athletics and college athletics in general when Big Jim McCafferty, Ed Biles, Don Ruberg and Ned Wulk ruled the roost. Some of these are hilarious about how much different college athletics was back then and, trust me. He gave me some very good advice numerous times on the best way to handle some things. I would give anything to be able to put Q and AL in chairs side by side, pull up some beers and just let them regale us with some of the funny stuff that happened.
Despite him moving from Cincy, he continues to be one of the biggest Xavier boosters out there, and deserves our thoughts. Thanks for reading this and for your indulgences.
