The six games we have coming up is likely the toughest regular season stretch Xavier has ever faced. A pretty good team could go 0-6 over the next 6. We'll have a pretty good idea whether we're national championship contenders or pretenders when it's over. Should be a lot of fun to watch, and hopefully it yields at least 4 wins.

Creighton is going to score like 400 points.

And Nova still has St Johns and DePaul twice...ugh...might need a miracle to win the league.

Don't focus on Nova. We aren't catching them. Let's just play good basketball these final 7 conference games and get some defensive swag back.

I'd say this is probably accurate. I think we beat nova here but I think we will lose at either seton hall or creighton with creighton being more likely. 15-3 in conference is awesome but it won't be enough to win it. I really don't care though all I want is a 1 or 2 seed and having 4 losses essentially guarantees that. It gets dicey if we start getting at 5 or 6 losses

agree.
Bluejays look very tough at home.

To get a 2 seed, X cannot lose more than 2 games for the rest of schedule.

More important than seed to me is what region we are in and who are the other top teams in that region. 1-4 doesn't really matter that much....after the first game, they are all tough...just would like to be close to home and avoid a few teams in our region.

Creighton is tough at home, but they're not invincible. Villanova, Providence and even Arizona State have gotten wins in Omaha this season. Let's also not forget that Xavier won in Omaha last year when they absolutely had to have it. As much of a matchup problem as the Bluejays can be for Xavier, I like Xavier's odds better at Creighton; there's not a huge downside losing there as opposed to potentially losing to them at home.

Could be lining up for Nova to be #1 coming into the Cintas on 2/24. That would be epic.

Particularly if we win twice next week and are 2, 3 or 4.

Honestly, I like the matchups @ Creighton. Expect them to hit the early 3's, but we just have just too much depth and speed for them. Hope Farr can play. Sumner should have a huge game.

Is it just me, or does it seem that X plays better on the road. They have an edge and seem to be more focused.

This home stretch will be crazy! I can't wait to see how this team does. I have a feeling they will do just fine.

If X wins out, and Nova only loses to X, which would be a BE reg season tie, I think two #1 seeds would be in play for the BE. Highly unlikely, but I would love to see that happen for the conference!

Absolutely. On all accounts. From your mouth (fingers) to God's ear. Who, frankly, should be on our side...

I think it is a lot more important to get a 1 or 2 seed over a 3 or 4 if not just for the winning % alone in the first round of 1 or 2 seeds. Crazy things happen, I'd love to have as close to a guarantee the first 2 rounds as possible.

You are right about one part of this, don't worry about Nova. If X focuses and plays great basketball and wins out we dont have to worry about Nova because we are guaranteed to be at least tied with them if we win out.

Get it done Muskies!

I'm really interested to see how we defend at Creighton. They haven't seen the 1-3-1 yet........you know they are gonna try to spread us out shoot 3's. We have to get Farr healthy again. He's so important in so many ways for us.

I think Xavier can win out and I think the players think they will, but i think they will realistically go 5-2. They are not losing to Butler. I think they can win all home games and the toughest road games will be Creighton (will probably hit 30 three's) and Seton Hall. If they win at Creighton, they may win out. At that point, they will probably lose early in Big East tourney.

I think we go 5-2 the rest of the way...not sure of the combination but with these last seven games, I think that's a hell of a finish.

I think we drop at least one or two road games. As any team can attest this year, it's freaking tough to win on the road.

I wouldn't be so confident to dismiss Butler. Playing them at their place is always tough, and we're going to be their Super Bowl at this point for them to make the Dance. They will be desperate.

Has Xavier ever been homered at Butler? Maybe not a gimme, just sayin.

Winning out would be a MAJOR accomplishment and would surly put us in the running for a #1 seed. If we win out, I will be surprised, but very excited at the same time. Our remaining 7 games are TOUGH.

I feel fairly confident that if we win out we will be the #1 team in the nation entering the Big East tourney, and a solid #1 seed (if not THE #1 seed).

I have been thinking the same thing for awhile and I completely agree. One reason we needed to pull out St Johns and Marquette so badly was because of the murderers row schedule that starts right now.

I think Nova will be number 1 when we play them. What a hot ticket.

Speaking of tough, consider the fact we COULD have 16 games remaining including the BE and NCAA's. Won't play a team worse than 100 in the RPI. This is going to be fun-

Our first round NCAA Tournament opponent may well have an RPI of 100+.

4-2. Pretty solid for such a tough stretch. We definitely passed the test and are more contender than pretender.

Agreed. I think everyone said from the beginning they'd be happy with 4 wins, and thrilled with 5. We are in a good position to get our fifth in that final tough 7-game stretch.

The games against Seton Hall and Creighton notwithstanding, this is a damn good Xavier team.
