What Would You Do If X Wins the NCAA Championship This Year?

With my Cavs meandering around the mess they're currently in, it dawned on me that Xavier can actually win a championship this year and the Cavs may (probably won't) win one. Since LBJ returned, I've dreamed about what I'd do if the Cavs won an NBA championship. But, I've never really thought about what I'd do if X wins it this year (or any for that matter, though it seems like a real possibility this year). I would be on at least a three day drunken stupor, sleep on the sidewalk in front of the Westin, bath in Fountain Square and find any decent place for going the the bathroom, indoor or outdoor. Then, I'd walk to the Cintas Center and repeat the process.

I have no idea what I would do. The big only championship around here that I can remember winning is the red's in 1990 - and I don't care much for baseball. Other than that it has been a series of let downs after let downs. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed all of our MCC and A-10 championships but to win the whole thing would be something I can't even fathom. I've been wishing and praying for a final four but to go all the way - my brain would probably implode.

You know, sometimes it's just the right time. Xavier is in the midst of one of those storybook years. Preseason unranked, win holiday tourney, undefeated OOC record, beating teams convincingly, jelling as a team throughout the year, balanced scoring, unselfish players, ultimately beating the #1 team in the country and playing, best basketball at the right time of the season and no dominant team at this point of the season.

This all leads me to think the somewhat generally unthinkable in past years: Why not Xavier? Save your money Muskie fans, an historic run into early-April may cost of few shekels. Imagine the multigenerational post game party among the XU faithful in Houston on April 4 if X cuts down the nets.

I will get my Jeep wrapped in Xavier colors and logos with the Trophy and Mack cutting down the nets on the hood. I also would spend an inordinate amount on gear. Oh and buy a giant light ala the Bat signal, but an X.

Side note, wifey reserved a room in Houston for Final Four week back in December when I told her that I thought this was the best X team I've ever seen.

I love the idea of the Xavier Bat Signal! And I want it at the Cintas too. It would be great to see getting closer to the game.

Can they do that with a light? Would it look like an X in the sky? That would be outstanding.
