At least Mack has the loss from last year to motivate these guys so I wouldn't expect a let down

Early line...X giving 10.5 pts. I think that is low, based on the score of the game with DePaul here and with the home court advantage reversed. Take Xavier.

Really worried about this game. Xavier tends to really get up for tough opponents (Nova was the perfect storm). Other than that they have been ready to play against every other tough opponent and have finished those games as well. A putred St Johns team was within 1 in the last 2 minutes (thank gosh for Myles and a huge technical) bc they weren't up to play and thought they would coast. The worst game of the year was against NKU.
I worry they won't be up for tomorrow......and DePaul is much better than St Johns.
This is a huge opportunity bc of the other teams who already lost this week in the polls. Then they get to come home to 2 games in which they will be favored by double digits.
Just get out with a win. A comfortable win with walk ons for the last couple minutes would be nice.
Come on X!!!!!

DePaul has talent that plays like it every once in awhile, especially at their place. I hope it's a slaughter, and with memories of last year, it could be. But, it seems more likely that Xavier will just control the game rather than outright destroy them. Like in the first half of the matchup at Xavier, I bet DePaul has a couple runs to keep the score a little closer.

Actually if you want to be more exact, it's about 2.75 days, which is why it easily rounds to 3, not 2. Also, that's 3 nights of sleep spaced in between, which is possibly the most important part of rest. So, yeah, essentially 3 days, which is much better than 2. So, not Providence's situation but go ahead and make that strawman.

Everyone is deservedly praising Farr for a great senior year, but Abell is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum. I like Remy, but he's not giving us anything right now. Maybe a change will be good for him.

Anyone else getting annoyed by this freedom of movement initiative nonsense? These soft rule changes were made just because there were some low scoring games on ESPN and in March. If the ncaa, according to Pete and whoever is the other announcer, is pushing the officials to step up their game on the rule changes if they want to ref in March, how strict do the officials have to be??? Do they want every game in March to be in the bonus 10 min into the half??? These rules blow.

Way to travel, X fans! A 50/50 split.
Don't know if they mentioned on the broadcast, or anyone caught this, but JP and Leitao were chirping when DePaul was leading by about seven.
Leitao continued to bark at the officials for a call/to control JP, then X went on its run
Now I'm not saying Macura was the sole reason for the comeback, but him distracting the opponents head coach is why I love him.

Even with that 21 point outburst, he's averaging 5 ppg in conference play. Take that game out, and he's averaging 3 ppg in conference play.
Bring him off the bench and see if that gets him going.

Ice on knee, but I'm thinking/hoping just bruise.
I think he and some DePaul slug just banged knees. Don't think there's any issue.

I would just like to say Coach Mack has an UNCANNY, AMAZING (insert other trump adjectives here) ability to design and pull off OOB plays. It really is something else. Also, Glad Jalen didn't slug the thug.

I'm at O'Hare right now getting ready to fly back. Great day with WCWIII and Xavier Nation. American X was out en force with American Muskette who is cute as a button.
I disagree. I'd say the crowd was 70/30 Xavier fans. Lots of Navy Blue and X logos all over. Definitely Cintas North today.
We kicked their sorry asses. Enough said.
Not gonna argue with the 70/30 comment!

Just got back from the game and Muskie fans were out in force. Impressed with JP and Larry Austin today and Trevon was his usual quiet 15 pt. I thought that Austin played pretty good D against Billy Garrett. Didn't quite understand why we were playing Remy and Sumner against Garrett when Ausstin was in. First live game for me this season and man there's a lot of banging inside. lackluster start but our 1-3-1 changed the game

In defense of Remy, I think we need his defensive intensity there. We have enough scorers. Think the box scores do not reflect his importance to the team

This team is so deep. I love it. Was nervous til the run but great job coming out in the 2nd half and stepping on their throats.
19-2. Fantastic.
Did Trevon make the MVP play by letting JP talk smack and pushing Jalen away from the situation. Love Tre!!!!

Xavier: Senior F James Farr ''sort of tweaked the back of his leg, whether it's a hamstring, we'll see,'' Mack said. ''Hopefully it's nothing serious.''

Good thing is that we don't necessarily need him Wednesday.

This. He has even said before that he wanted to be a defensive guy this season. I think hes been pretty good overall on defense. We don't need him to be a constant scoring option. He can hit some shots and occasionally put up a good number, but if he plays solid D thats what we need from him

True, but it would be worse for a PG or someone who routinely needs burst. Hopefully not as bad for a Big like Farr. A bad hammy can linger, though.

Equally bad for either one really.

I really don't think so. A running back or WR will generally be affected more than an OLineman. It's that kind of injury. Always a bad thing, but worse when you need that burst. That's where the injury gets you. Not good, but better Farr than Sumner.

You dont think Farr needs burst when he is playing? Every basketball player needs to run up and down the court. Not to mention the burst Farr needs going up for a rebound.

I did NOT say he doesn't need it. It IS a factor for him as I said. I specifically said it's a matter of degrees. And I don't think a hammy is as much of a jumping muscle as a burst muscle. He needs it to get up the floor more than jumping which might be more calves and quads. This is based on my unfortunate recovery from a bad hamstring a couple years ago, my kids injury histories and a half century of watching football. I may be wrong, but don't try to say that I even implied it wasn't an issue, when I specifically said it was.
Read again - I said "always a bad thing".

Sorry, you said its "worse when you need that burst." Thought you were meaning he did not need burst. I have no desire to fight about it, I think a hamstring bad is bad for any athlete who needs to run, jump, cut, etc. And I realize you said it was bad no matter what too. So we really do agree.
As far as the hamstrings being involved, hip extension occurs first when jumping before your feet leave the ground, 2 of your 3 hamstring muscles are active during that.

Don't ask me why I somehow remember this, but it seems to me DWPZ has some kind of advanced degree in hammies, so it may be like arguing with the lawyers here.

It would eliminate the jumping off of one foot or two foot debate. Much like myself, he could jump off zero feet.

AmX Quick Takes:
1) Came away with an even deeper appreciation of J.P. Macura. He really just does everything on the floor. He could have chosen to be a hotshot elsewhere, but wisely chose to be an integral part of a rising Xavier program poised for great things.
2) Hats off to Larry Austin, Jr. He has clearly improved since the beginning of the season. Just needs to refine not choosing to do too much. If the team's 'soft spot' of backup PG is the LAJ of yesterday, watch out college basketball....
3) Trevon Bluiett can be an All-American the next two years with his ability to score in every which way from anywhere on the floor.
4) The Kaiser Gates at center experiment was certainly short-lived.
5) The DePaul dance team has upgraded in the past two years. I no longer think any of their members could start for the Bears.
6) This is a special year, Xavier fans. Enjoy every moment of it.

!) He IS on OUR team, so I love the guy. Much like Farr, ego in check enough to be content making a huge difference off the bench.
2) If LAJ can let the game slow down for him and not do too much, he can be a very good player. Nice game!
3) Trevon seems to get the quietest, easiest 15+ points of any guy I can remember.
4) I blinked and missed the Gates at center era.
5) The DePaul dance team may have upgraded, but the Bears are still the Bears, so there's a chance.
6) Hell yes! GO XAVIER!

I have a good friend who is from Minnesota and who went to school at Wisconsin. He goes to X games with me and love Macura's game. But he can't believe that neither Wisconsin nor Minnesota weren't somehow able to keep him from leaving the great frozen north, not that he's unhappy with that because he loves having him here. I concur because as I have said elsewhere, Macura (along with Jimmy Farr and Myles D) are my favorite players on this year's team.

Really didn't mind the Kaiser experiment. It occurred right after Hamilton's third three, and Mack wanted Hamilton to earn it down low, as opposed to the pick and pop. You probably noticed, but Hamilton is allergic to the paint. I think it was a reasonable attempt at an adjustment.
