CINCINNATI – Xavier University sophomore Trevon Bluiett has been named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week and teammate Edmond Sumner has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.

This is the fifth time Bluiett has earned a weekly BIG EAST honor this season, having been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll four other times this season. For Sumner, this is the third time he has been selected as the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. In fact, he picked up where he left off before his Dec. 31 injury because Sumner won the award two straight weeks at the end of December.

I know we've never NEEDED the awards to know we've got great talent, but it sure feels nice to finally be in a league that recognizes excellence.

Not sure we noted at XH that Bluiett and Sumner swept the Big East awards again.

Of course seniors Dunn and Arcidiacono are stellar players, but I like that Edmond decided recently to be the best point guard in the league.

It was mentioned in another thread that Myles Davis gets a triple double and yet that isn't good enough to beat out a teammate for the honors. Pretty damn impressive.
