That must have been a devastating penalty to self-impose given their current squad.

Frank Haith is a scum bucket. Once again though, coaches do shady stuff and the current players pay the price.
Nice week in Mizzou, huh? Lose their NFL team and then their major university, and the only decent chance at basketball success, has this.
Add that racial situation at Mizzou and the Ferguson riots and you have quite the year in that state. Good times!

They did win the WS, and the Chiefs won a playoff game 30-0. You had to be west of Columbia to have a good year in MO.

Well, it's not exactly a mother-daughter stripper/hooker scandal. Just ordinary shenanigans.

Hard decision to give up the post season to prevent future penalties when you're 8-8 and not going anywhere anyway. Just sayin'

The Tulsa brass will happily have an excuse to fire Frank Haith if and when their own team goes into the crapper. It certainly explains why a coach was willing to move from Mizzou to Tulsa (even before they went to the American). Whatever talent is left at Tulsa is courtesy of Danny Manning before he went to Wake Forest.

In other news, St. John's has self-imposed a 2015-16 postseason ban to penalize the program for any NCAA rule violations the program may commit over the next 25 years.

Tulsa should be good, but they're not. There are some select coaches that always seem inexplicably fall upwards, and Frank Haith is one of them.

It's a good thing Mizzou announced that they were self imposing a ban. Had they self imposed it and not announced it, no one would have even noticed. Give them credit for the heads up thinking.

Been a rough year for me sports wise, so I think good news is that Xavier is going to completely make up for it.

Anyways not shocked about haith...what a disgusting piece of shit that guy is...remember that he also had a hand in the Shapiro Miami scandal. How this guy keeps getting hired places is astounding. Not only is he an awful coach, but hes an awful coach that also cheats.

He also got suspended at Mizzou for what he did at Miami and left to escape that shit. Frank Haith has pulled this shit at multiple schools now. He probably shouldn't be allowed to coach in the NCAA for awhile.

North Carolina though still not in trouble for things that happened over multiple years....the ncaa report about the sanctions came out in what June of last year? What exactly is taking so long? I'm sure they will just wait until April or May after the basketball tournament just in case UNC wins it.

Well lets not forget that this wasn't the NCAA punishment, but instead, just what Mizzou decided to self impose in hopes that the NCAA deems it satisfactory. When you look at the self imposed sanctions, they really aren't that hurtful. They lose 1 scholarship for this year (that was going unused anyway), can't play in the post season this season (that they aren't going to qualify for), and forget that a second round NIT year ever happened. The only real punishment is the undisclosed recruiting restrictions and losing one scholarship for next year (or if we choose the year after).

Overall, a little more than a slap on the wrist, but not quite bringing the hammer down.

If you're waiting for UNC men's basketball to get hammered, you're going to be disappointed. I've read enough of the reports from investigators to know that football and women's basketball were much more actively involved in seeking out the fake classes for their athletes. Men's basketball will likely be basically unscathed.

When UNC was supposed to respond to the initial notice of allegations that they received, they conveniently discovered more wrongdoing in their program. As far as I know, the NCAA hasn't revised the Notice of Allegations for UNC yet, so they're in essence back to square one in the process. If UNC did suck ox balls this year, they'd be turning themselves in like all the other crappy teams have done in recent years.
