Interesting game I saw on Twitter today.. Was nice to see a widespread large amount of people picking X out of their group

You get $11 to spend and pick 4 teams

$5:
-- UNC
-- Kentucky
-- Michigan State
-- Kansas

$4:
-- Oklahoma
-- Maryland
-- Virginia
-- Duke

$3:
-- Iowa State
-- Purdue
-- Louisville
-- Arizona

$2:
-- Providence
-- X
-- Miami
-- Butler

$1
-- Villanova
-- West Virginia
-- UCONN
-- Pitt

Think I would personally go with X, Nova, Maryland, Oklahoma -- Don't trust Nova but that would be some up tempo and awesome games to watch

Hmmm very interesting....

I'll take Michigan State

Louisville

X

UCONN (because they have pulled a rabbit out of their hat twice in recent years)

XU, MSU (Never bet against Izzo to make the F4), Louisville (Pitino is same as Izzo), WVU (Think theyre underrated)

Kentucky has the talent, they are just extremely young, inconsistent and extremely thin in the front court. They probably still have the best backcourt in the country in Murray and Ullis. I can't freaking stand Kentucky, but some people's dismissal of them on this board is a little premature in my opinion. I'd probably switch them out with Oklahoma here and feel they have a better chance than anyone in the $4 category on down, minus X of course :).

I need a few more dollars! Can I do this like the government and just owe you the rest? Or print my own?

In terms of the $11, Oklahoma, Nova, X, and UVA. What I actually think is going to happen? No idea. Need to see how the brackets pan out first honestly lol.

Also, as a WVU fan, I wouldn't say underrated, they play very tough defense and make it a living hell for opponents, but if they're not hitting shots, they're doomed. And we don't really have the best shooters in the world, however some guys are pretty good, like Jaysean Paige, Devin Williams, I think it's a Sweet 16/Elite 8 type of team, I just don't see a Final 4 (I hope I'm wrong)

I disagree on the beat back court thing. Good players, but the best? Not in my opinion. Kentucky is very average this year. I would take Myles and Sumner. Sumner shoots it better, turnovers close and is a much better rebounder. And Myles is just better all around. Just my take.

Fair enough but Murray is probably a lottery pick and Ullis is going to be drafted.

Murray has a stat line of 17 pts, 4 rbs and about 3 assists...Ullis has 14, 3 and 6 they are awesome and its good for UK that they are because their front court isn't very good. The thing is though to win the tournament, some years you don't have to have that great of a frontcourt and you can still win if your backcourt is that good...i.e the last time UCONN won it.

Myles is a good player, but he isn't close to the talent of either of these guys in my opinion. Sumner however is a different story...love his potential.

Kentucky sucks. I suppose they could be like their team from 2 years ago and get hot as an 8 seed or something, because they do have raw talent, but they are just not a good basketball team. Laughable to have them in that top category.

I guess someone might draft Ulis, but the kid's a midget. You don't see many guys his size make it. I can think of like 3. Ever.

I wouldn't sleep on them. They are going through a rough patch. The talent is there, Ullis and Murray are both good but Murray can't dribble or create his own shot. Look for Briscoe to get more involved, he is better out of all of them driving the lane and getting contact or passing. His issue are free throws (35%). UK is weak down low. Lee isn't there every game, Labisierre is not even close to being as good as advertised, that leaves Willis. Poythress is what he is, he isn't going to change.

Lucky for the Kentucky, the rest of the SEC is hot garbage, so they'll get clobbered in Lawrence but still end up with a pretty gaudy record.

Agreed. Watching them against LSU, they didnt look like they were having an off night, they just looked like a bad team. I dont think Arizona, Duke, UK, Virginia, or ISU are really that good at all this year.

The high dollar amount is a joke, though.

I believe you have exceeded you $11 dollar limit. It's hard enough without a budget, then it gets impossible!

Need to use the real estate developer mentality and get a 60% loan to leverage your $11 and make it $16 bucks. This way you get more teams. As for who I'd pick one week after New Years, I have no clue.

I tried to use the government model and just owe the rest, but I got no positive affirmation. Hence my WAG. Now, if you want to finance my Powerball purchases, I'm glad to give you a (small) percentage. I'll guard you from the related possibility of being eaten by a shark or hit by a meteor.

Florida A&M, Central Connecticut State, Jacksonville State, SE Louisiana........for Zero $$$$$$, Alex.

By the way, there are more winless teams (5) in NCAA D1 than undefeated teams. One of those includes Illinois Chicago, who used to be pretty good.

Pay attention to Mississippi Valley State; they might set a D-I record with 30+ losses this year.

Due to the whole, couldn't hit a shot thing in the second half like I said, but beat the hell out of the same Virginia Tech team that ended up beating Virginia, so I have no idea what to think of that game.

Beat Arkansas Pine Bluff.
Central Connecticut might be worse.

The Muskies will roll through the West, defeat the bottom half of the bracket, and coast to the Championship by defeating Villanova in the finals. All is well in the Big East!

I find it interesting to look at the odds to win the NCAA every few weeks. I saw Xavier as low as +22000 (i.e. 220 to 1 payout) before the season. Crazy, crazy low even if Xavier was viewed as only a top-40 team to start the year. I've seen them as high as 12 to 1 recently. They're at 20 to 1 now (not sure if this drop was due to Sumner injury uncertainty but that'd be my guess).

Current odds:
Kansas 6.5 to 1
Duke, UNC 7 to 1
Mich St 7.5 to 1
Okl 10 to 1
MD, Nova 14 to 1
UK 15 to 1
Purdue 16 to 1
VA, X 20 to 1

Others of note:
Prov is 50 to 1
Butler & Mich are 65 to 1
Dayton is 200 to 1
UC, Gtown, Marq are 300 to 1
Also, I found it hilarious that the sportsbook I'm looking at is allowing you to bet on 5 teams with a payout of 9,999 to 1. St. John's is included in that group so a $1 bet wins you $9,999 if they win the NCAA championship. Not a good time to be a St. John's fan!
