Wasn't the kid from Canada who prepped in Vermont supposed to join the Muskies as a red shirt for the second half of the season? Has he enrolled at Xavier and is he now practicing and hitting the weight room?

I think he has been sitting on the bench dressed in street clothes.

The big man you speak of is Eddie Ekiyor, and here was the plan for him as of last month.

"Eddie Ekiyor, a 6-foot-8 forward from Canada, is in the process of enrolling at the university. Coach Chris Mack said the player will be on campus Dec. 27. He'll start practicing with the team when his paperwork is finished, possibly Dec. 29." -- Cincinnati Enquirer 12/18/2015

He arrived over x-mas break and is practicing with team and traveling with team but don't expect him to see any action this season.

Thanks, Cheese! That is the verification I was hoping for. I knew that is what was expected, but I had not specifically seen any notice that it had actually come to fruition.

I just LOVE that we have so many guys who get to spend time getting ready to play before being thrown into the fire. That time practicing, learning and lifting prepares them for a higher level of success than if we were desperate for bodies and played them right away.

with the list of offers that this guy had, I am guessing he is pretty talented. Anyone in the know......will we see some decent minutes from this guy next year, or is he a bit of a project like London?

If you go to the 29:27 mark, you can hear what Chris had to say about Eddie last night:

I saw him practice last week which might have been his first or 2nd practice. He obviously didn't know much since he just joined the team but in drills looked physical and didnt back down. This year will do him wonders. Looks to be a tough banger type guy. He will fit in fine. And yes I think the fact that he, London and Gates being brought along slowly will be good for next year and beyond. Sign of a good program.

Having him going against our bigs day in and day out is going to be the highest level of competition he has ever faced. I think this is fantastic. I noticed an article over break and told the kids another 4 star big man was just added to the roster. It is like manna from heaven these days and the hits just keep on coming. It feels like this program is stronger than it has ever been and the future is bright.
