4 teams currently ranked.
Top 2 teams in the RPI and three in the top 10
True round robin play
National TV coverage for every game

And the rankings will most likely improve. We could see one or two more teams sneak in. If the Hall and Hoyas could get ranked that would be 60% of the conference. Could we get 7 teams in the dance?

In my 33 years of Xavier devotion, I've never been more excited and proud.

Agreed, a huge step up for us from the A10. Would be nice at some point for a conference rival to surface. UC is nice once a year but the Flyer games were sometimes more fun. Its always good to have another game for fans to mobilize around, even in a down year. Tough to predict who it would be at this point. Butler is the closest from a proximity standpoint, but are they a worthy rival for us? They are too nice. The original Catholic 7 has some established rivalries that we may not be able to crack, plus distance may create some challenges initially.

A lot will depend on teams winning and losing to bottom dwellers (SJU, DePaul). If both don't beat any teams besides themselves, that is good but unlikely.

I think 5 teams is the max to enter the NCAA tourney. If we wantg more, we need to hope XU, Villanova, and Providence all lose to Seton Hall, Georgetown and Butler. Then we might get more teams in but seeds will not be as good.

I hope X doesn't lose another game, Providence only loses 3 more (against usand 1 @ VU) and Villanova loses 3 more games.
rpiforecast.com has a good prediction for each team if they had XYZ record.

I hope for a 1 seed, Two 2 seeds, and a 4 seed make it. More advancement = more $$ for each BE school.

I agree, I love the round robin aspect. So awesome.

What a great job by the conference with the non con. I was very unimpressed with Butler and jury is out on Providence IMO, but having them overrated going into conference play is a huge boost as long as they don't lose to the wrong teams now.

For me it's tough right now. The kumbaya of wanting the other teams to do well is starting to wane. I'm actually really starting to hate some of these teams. Villanova, butler, gtown can all suck a big fat pole as far as I'm concerned.

I do love the conference in that it makes it easier for Xavier to accomplish the goals they have laid out, but that's about it.

I enjoyed seeing ads for the upcoming BE games on Big Fox during the football game this afternoon.

LOTS of eyeballs on those commercials.

I love the fact that I can sit down and watch BE bball for about 8 hours and be genuinely interested in the outcome of the games. It's really awesome.

I agree. I really thought without Sumner X was still in great position to beat Butler because I don't think they are that good. They have a pretty bad non con SOS I think (could be wrong) and while they beat UC, UC was in great position to win until Mick had a dumb T.

Providence is a little harder to tell. They might have the best player in the country and at the guard position its easier for him to take over. I think Xavier, Nova, and Providence will separate themselves from the rest of the Big East.

Well Butler did beat Purdue... Does that count?

Providence beat Arionza and has one loss to a healthy Michigan State team. They are pretty good. Cooley does a great job.

And you learn the personnel of each team. In the A-10, I had no idea who was on the Fordham's of the world.

Knowing the match ups makes it that much more enjoyable.

I love the fact that they show advertisement during the Bengals game today. UC and VD fans had to love that.

Except that they really didn't mention the #6 team in the nation - although they did show the game...secondarily, the announcement was about Whitehead and unranked Seton Hall (?).

Ok, whatever.

Beats a blank, I suppose.

If the jury is still out on Providence, then the jury is rigged. They beat Arizona and Butler away from home, both of whom are highly ranked. Their only loss was a very close game to Michigan State, who hasn't lost a game at full strength. Right now, Providence is probably as deserving of a #1 seed as any team in the country.

This is one hell of a conference.

I don't think any of us are seriously thinking any different. Half our conference is in the top 50 in kenpom (I think) and are capable of stringing together a number of wins. The top four teams in our conference only lost 4 games before the conference season began. Those losses were to the likes of MSU and Oklahoma.

Got to agree with the sentiments that you actually root for the rest of the conference during the non-conference portion of the season, on top of March Madness. Furthermore, how sweet is it to just have a national broadcast of your games every time around. Think about how the A-10 has that contract that bounces your games around different networks constantly. It's just such a blessing to have that alone.

I used to HATE looking for the X game and finding I just might get hockey from Columbus or a Cavs game instead.

So I was looking thru Xavier's schedule this afternoon and found this...last 5 games before Senior day against Creighton:

2/13 @Butler
2/17 Providence
2/20 @Georgetown
2/24 Nova
2/28 @ Seton Hall

That is a strong finish to say the least.
