Got my annual game in last week vs Auburn down in section 109. Made a point of going into top bowl to check the view. I always buy down low since I only go once a year, but the people touting the great view from everywhere are right. Cintas is awesome and will only get better!

Oh yes. Had season tickets for 14 years in 202 and going to get tickets again when I move back next year to cincy and most likely in upper bowl. Better overall value for me personally with getting great view, cheaper seats, and avoid the seat "donation".

Remy is a 5th year senior and Jalen has to be at least 22 years old. These two need to step up, lead, and play well for our guys to win this one. Myles is a leader, and needs to do the same as a guy that's probably around 21 years old. Our grown men need to lead this team and provide the mental toughness leadership and imho the rest of our team will follow. Add big James to that list too. That's four top notch players that can help pull out a W in the biggest game of the year. I don't think we have a chance if that doesn't happen. By the way, Omar'a is important too. I really am loving his play more and more as this season progresses.

I don't know what you want Remy to do. He is pretty far down the list of offensive options. His job on offense is to drive open lanes when they become available and shoot threes. Anything more than that and he is doing too much.

I think if Jalen and Farr can stay out of foul trouble, and if Austin and Myles can manage the game at the point, X will win. Butler is playing their 3rd game of the week, will be interesting to see if fatigue can play a factor (though their Monday tilt vs IUPUI wasn't much of a game, so probably just wishful thinking on my end)

Rick Broering @musketeerreport 2m2 minutes ago
Xavier going big to start against Butler: Davis, Abell, Bluiett, Reynolds and Farr.
and Butler going with a new lineup as well:

Me neither. They work for exactly 30 seconds, and then just stop. It's not buffering or anything. It just stops, like that is all there was to play. I've tried in VLC, MediaGo, and apparently Microsoft's new "Edge" browser can play those types of streams. None of them go longer than 30 seconds.

We could easily be up 15+ points. If Farr had finished a couple of close looks and had he and Reynolds took care of the ball, we could have pushed the lead out further. Also, LAJ had a coupld of offensive fouls that gave the ball back to Butler.

What a great game from Remy! That was huge! Smart move by Coach Mack to have him be more agressive so that X had someone slashing to the hole.
Big game from Gates as well. With how much Coach is playing him he has to be killing it in practice and it's really starting to show in games. Would be huge if he could be another option for X going forward.
Also liked what I saw from Sean O'Mera yet again. He does a solid job every time he is in the game. Would love to see him get more PT!

Nice step back from the ledge - seems hard to believe sometimes.
Mack on the postgame saying he wanted Remy to be more aggressive going to the basket. I would have said he has been too aggressive / out-of-control recently. Guess that's why he's the coach and I'm not. Key of the game for sure.

Lost in all this was that Jalen Reynolds somehow managed to only pick up 1 foul for the entire game.

I'll bet that is on the long list. :)
Stepping back from the ledge is so true. A lot of people had been saying we needed to step off the ledge, but that's when gravity takes over. That's not what you want!
I was certainly concerned about how they would respond, and couldn't be more thrilled. We might not have won at 'Nova, but it would not have been the nightmare it turned into without the horrible injury experience. (And for what it's worth, I'm sure the intent was a hard foul to send a message, not a ride on a stretcher and a hospital visit.)

Probably see X and providence 8-10 assuming a providence win today. Nova around 11-12 assuming they win and butler around 18-22.
And better make room for Seton Hall. 5 in top 25.

I think we're still top 10, maybe at #10. We just beat the #9 team in the country by 19, which should have been 22 if Lewis doesn't make the buzzer beater from 40 feet.

Great win. Pretty much everyone played well and contributed.
But you do have to wonder about a team who gives minutes to Ollie from Hoosiers.

Guys... we just put in walk ons against the number 9 team in the country...
Can we just take a minute to think about how far the Xavier program has come?
Edit: Without our starting point guard.
I remember that time back in '99 when Skip put the walkons in against Kansas in the Great Alaska Shootout.
I remember that game. It was a game of runs. We started out on a 12-4 run. Then they had a little 107-58 run to take the lead. Games like that sometimes the last team to go on a run is gonna win it. And yes we played our walk-ons.
Luke Axtell was all hat and no cattle. Their last run was a fluke and they were happy to escape with a W.
O'Mara gave us a huge boost coming in cold off the bench when we needed it. Nice job. Gates gaining confidence. Boy can shoot!
A am LOVING the young guys! That's why it's so exciting. This isn't just a bunch of seniors having a run. It's a beautiful blend. Hats off to coach Mack and staff!

Just got back to Cbus and havent read any of the thread but as I am sure others have said, awesome game/response after the tough Nova game and without Ed. Remy was huge today and the Gates coming out of nowhere to contribute. Defense was solid and the whole team responded well to get a big home win. I loved it.

Voters do take into account injuries. They won't dock X much for the loss without Sumner on the road, and the win over Butler should offset any negative thoughts that some might have from the nova loss. I don't see them dropping lower than 8.

Yeah agree, it was terrible.
Got to say glad we have St. Johns and Depaul in our next 2 while Ed is in the concussion protocol. 2 weeks from today we play at Marquette, hopefully he is back and healthy by then.
Have to say I love the way the team responded today though and showed how they could play so good even without Ed, when given time to prep.

Great team effort on all accounts. Loved Remy's aggressiveness particularly in the first half. Jalen played a complete game today. 13/8 go a long, long way. Larry brought exactly what was needed out of him. Great to see Kaiser knock down a couple of 3's. The Cintas was rocking!!

The Boys stepped up today. I actually found myself wanting kaiser and Larry back on the court. And Remy to shoot. Love this team.
Not to be negative, and I know he was hurt today, but I'm waiting to see makinde contribute. Thought he'd be a bigger player this season but has been nonexistent. Hope he turns it around and puts in the effort in practice. He's too talented to let it go to waste.

I don't want to make a big deal about this, and I was happy to see Mack address how well Gates played in his press conference.
But...against a team like Butler...for a freshman to come in and give us 10/5 in 12 minutes is really an accomplishment.
Farr and Reynolds had nothing comparable in their first years.
I hope it wasn't an anomaly, and that Gates can continue to produce like that, and play some good D. It really would take some pressure off our big guys with that kind of backup along with O'Mara.

Amen! What a gratifying win it was, too. You learn a lot about a team based upon how they respond following a tough blow. It's a long season; thrilled to see our guys get back on track so quickly, even at less than 100%.

What I found most satisfying - other than the fact that Ed will not only be ok, but that they can dispatch the #9 team in the nation without him - is that the players that stepped up were not the next "big name players" (i.e. Trevon, Jalen, Farr). If we go back to the 'indispensable' thread - it is the also-rans in poll that stepped up. THAT is the sign of not just a great team, but a great program.
(Just to be clear - I an NOT interested in reviving that particular thread)

One last thing. I said this at the game yesterday and after watching the replay, I'll say it again- the officiating crew yesterday was outstanding- especially Ed Corbett, who, I think, is one of the absolute best. Gary Prager is solid as well, and although Anderson got a bit whistle happy in the 2nd half, he did a decent job.
There were a couple of times in the game where a lesser official may have called a T or another violation, but. Corbett just settled the troops, had conversations with the players and coaches involved and made the right calls. I have always appreciated the good refs, who do the job right. No one is perfect and Corbett has missed a few in his career, but by and large, I want that guy on the court when my team is playing.

It really astonishes me how much Butler gets away with moving screens and grabs away from the ball. Actually, I thought the refs were pretty bad. Some really inconsistent calls. Can't remember who it was on, but I think they called a horrible over the back call on Myles Davis in the second half. Also thought the fast break offensive foul call on Larry Austin was bad. It goes both ways though, as I thought there were a few bad calls on Butler as well.
I guess in the sense that they didn't give one team an advantage over the other, they were good.

All the crap calls were made by Anderson. The Myles call was good. He used his off arm to launch himself up over the Butler guy. Sneaky, an Old Mans basketball move, but a foul.

The most frustrating call I've been having to deal with this year is the hooking call. In the Butler game, there were multiple hooks that were not called. And they were 100% obvious, even with how the officials were positioned. They were also not calling obvious instances of hooking in the UC game I believe. But then in our game against Wake, I think we got called for hooking 3 or 4 times. (They were all hooking, so I don't have a problem with those calls individually, I just wish it was more consistently called from game to game)
I could see this being a "point of emphasis" for the rules committee in coming years. Try to get all of the crews calling it consistently, because right now there are not. Just my opinion.

It was bad. Lewis was using his body to keep LAJ from getting to the hoop and LAJ pushed him off. Both were fouls, but one happened first and the second happened because of the first.

This may have been brought up already, but did not feel like sifting through the entire thread. However, one of my biggest takeaways from this game was how much better this team can be when Jalen Reynolds stays out of foul trouble. Against Butler, Jalen logged 28 minutes of play, by far his highest total of the season, not counting the Miami game where he played 31 minutes.
Starting with the Orlando Tournament, Jalen has logged more than 20 minutes in just 3 of the 10 games. Luckily, Farr has been outstanding and has filled in for Jalen exceptionally, so it hasn't been an issue. But it will (and has) provide(d) the team with such a major advantage to have him and Farr combine for about 50 minutes per game. Most teams just do not have an answer in the post to compete down low, when both can play for that amount of time. While Farr certainly gets his fair share of fouls, it hasn't been near the problem it has been with Jalen.
Just my observation, while probably obvious, from the Butler game. Let's hope he can continue staying out of foul trouble, like we saw on Saturday.
