This is old news, but I consider myself pretty up to date with Xavier info and hadnt heard it so perhaps its new to others as well.

In 2017 Xavier will be part of a preseason tournament honoring Nike creator Phil Knight. Schools involved are Michigan State, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio State, Connecticut, Georgetown, Texas, Oklahoma, Stanford, Oregon, , Butler, Gonzaga and Portland. Should be awesome.

That's AWESOME!

So, if we win the National Championship, should Nike kick Georgetown, Butler, Ohio State and UCon out and slot us in?

Or if we get an invite, we give them the big FU big time shrug? I vote the FU shrug.

How long can Georgetown live off the fact that they won a National championship over 30 years ago? Seems like they get some preferential treatment that quite honestly I'm a little jealous of.

When you say preferential treatment, do you mean from Nike?? I think the reason Nike prefers them is because they've been with Nike since the 80s if I'm not mistaken.

I THINK (not claiming to be an insider here) the reason we got booted from the tournament is because Georgetown and Butler had been with Nike longer.

Nike has a thing for dog mascots. That's all.

With Nike, pre season polls, television....etc. They've built a nice brand, but have not exactly rung the bell a whole lot the last 10-15 years. Yes, a final 4 back in 2007-2008.........

Did I hear correctly that we're switching to Jordan Jumpman on our unis? I know this is a brand of Nike, but maybe Phil Knight only wants the swoosh logos in the house.

If I'm not mistaken, Georgetown is one of four teams that currently use the Jumpman, so I doubt that is it.

No, we are still going to be Nike: http://www.goxavier.com/news/2015/1/26/Xavier_Announces_Five_Year_Deal_With_Nike.aspx

Only knew about the first four. Didn't realize the last three had them. Very cool.

Edit: Interestingly, it looks like Oakland, Fresno State and Wright State are all basically the Marquette template. Are they new additions to the Jumpman brand?

Man, what happened to Fresno St program? Long ways away from the glory days of Second Chance University. Skip To My Lou, Chris Herren, Courtney Alexander... they could flat out ball.
