What made it even sweeter is that Ed threw that pill right in Octavious Ellis' grille.
Even with 5 TOs, the kid is amazing. Steel. Balls. I wanna hear " he's just a freshman" chants from the students.
A child shall lead us to the promised land.

Ed is SO talented and athletic. That dunk was just nasty!
He also made a running bank shot in the second half that was super impressive.
He just may turn out to be kinda good and nice to have around.....

It's mesmerizing. Even the UC players appear mesmerized.

After Ed threw it down, he ran back with a look on his face like he stole a cookie from the cookie jar. Just a kid playin a game.

Just imagine when he actually knows what he can (and can't) do!
He'll have a lot of cookies!!!

That bank shot was made with the shot clock expiring. He made his move from the top of the arc with 4 seconds left on the clock...Just nasty.

Don't forget that gutty putback after skying for the rebound! Ed has already exceeded my expectations. I had no idea he could be this impactful as a Frosh. To that point, what a 1st Shootout for him! Every year in this game we see Frosh MELT under the intensity of the game. Not Ed. So excited to see him continue to progress and impress!

Didn't that also end UC's 10-0 run to start the second half?

He is electric and exudes talent BUT needs to control lazy interior passes against much tougher competition. Solid defense is needed and laser passes. His speed is the MOSt speed ever for an X player. Great pull up body control and not to bad of a shot. Imaging him in 2-3 years.

I knew Xavier had made it to the big time when they got a 6'6" point guard.

Anyone see the post game players presser? When they asked Ed about the dunk he said something to the effect of "well i missed a couple of layups and i thought i was fouled on them so coach said just dunk it next time, so i did."
How awesome is that! Dear Ed: Always dunk it! That's our frosh point guard...unreal.

Random info on Ed - according to his player bio on goxavier.com he was an outstanding student at Detroit Country Day, graduating with latin honors. I knew a number of kids from DCD in law school and they were, without exception, extraordinarily bright and hardworking.

Sometime during the post game TV show, Mack made the point that they didn't recruit Ed to be the type of point guard that just "manages" a game, but they recruited him to be the type of PG that "makes plays". I think this is kinda what they wanted....lol

How did Mack get Sumner? Just an amazing recruiting job by the staff! I doubt he comes here if we are in the A-10! Game changer as a freshman, wow!!

Exactly. Said the exact same thing to my buddy as we walked out of the Cintas. Total momentum killer.

He was I think 6'2 maybe 150 lbs when Mack was recruiting him. I think many viewed him as a guy who would need 2-3 years to physically mature and be ready to play. I think he's a bit ahead of that schedule maybe.

The Banners on the Parkway writeup is downright poetic. I suggest going over there and reading it.

Thanks!
I love this part and think it needs more attention:
"Trevon Bluiett (2/6/1) deserves some special credit here for the job he did on Gary Clark in the man to man. Tre will never be known as an elite defender, but he gave all of his effort on that end in this game and trusted his teammates to handle the scoring. They did, and he kept Clark from garnering even a single point. As much as Myles was a virtuoso offensively, Trevon was on the other end."

Absolutely- especially this part:
"And it was here where the differing directions of the programs became evident. Coach Mack called a timeout, calmed his team, and sent them back out. Buckets from Edmond Sumner (11/2/5) and Abell pushed the lead back to nine. UC made another little run and Myles answered with five straight of his own. Aside from just the players reacting with no panic, it was the coaching that stood out. While Cronin screamed, sweated, flapped his arms, and whined, Coach Mack adjusted to the 1-3-1. With the Bearcats apparently unable to watch or interpret game tape, their offense flew back out of sync. The lead dropped to five, and there it hung, waiting for the game's defining moment."

BE gets better and better.
Syracuse shockingly loses to St. John's.
BE conference is ranked #1 in the country with 2 weeks of non conference to play solidifying every play in conference to be a win (win or lose) in conference. Maybe 5-6 bids with most in top 4-6 seed. Hoping X gets a 2-3 seed. I know..Slow down..getting ahead of self but even at 9-9, X looks like a solid NCAA team.
Scariest test next is AT WF. They will be so HYPED to beat a top 10 ranked team.

Syracuse is not very good. Boeheims absence is a sign of things to come for them I think.

The slam the Ed had versus Miami in his first ever X game was equally as impressive as last night's. No nearly as high-profile or consequential, but very, very impressive nonetheless.

Semi off topic but I did love when Dante was the pg. Just because the defense was so long and lengthy with a 6'5" PG.
