One guy actually said that Xaviers OOC schedule was weak, actually abysmal...I immediately stopped reading after that. You can't get more incorrect than that.
Listening to a sports program on ESPN radio last night after 11 and the host was discussing the X-Nova game. A Kansas fan called in and said that X shouldn't be seeded ahead of Kansas because "they hadn't played anybody".
Now this is important for 2 reasons......first, when was the last time that an X game (other than the brawl game) was being discussed on a NATIONAL program, and as the 2nd lead story of the program (after the Golden State game)? Second, when was the last time that a fan of a program like Kansas felt the need to call a national program and try to build a case where their team should be seeded ahead of X? I don't really care if the fans and " experts" are talking disrespectfully about X, at least they have finally begun to notice them, and take them seriously. I hope that the coaches and players of programs like Kansas feel the same way as their fans and the writers do. They will underestimate them at their own peril.

Four page thread on the game at the Phog. I haven't read it yet...but I'm guessing they'll claim both teams kinda suck and couldn't compete in the Big XII. Let's see if I'm right (I'm totally right).

No, it's not that bad, and I never would have gone looking for it but for XU Grad's post. But it was pretty predictable.
KU fans are okay (compared to Kentucky, UNC, Ohio State, etc. fans), but they're definitely my third favorite fanbase out of the Kansas Big 3.

These fans are really underselling Xavier. It's like Xavier doesn't understand what Kansas can bring. Do people understand what Xavier can bring? I mean, we have been absolutely running teams out of the gym all year. If Villanova doesn't hit about 5 consecutive garbage 3's last night they lose by 20+. Xavier would run 4 guys at Perry Ellis and dominate the paint and who guards Bluiett? Or Macura? and is Frank Mason tall enough to handle Sumner? Strictly size and depth wise we're a nightmare for Kansas. We would struggle with their quickness, but you have to have guys down low that can fend off Reynolds, Farr, Gates, and O'Mara in the post, guys on the wings to guard Bluiett, Macura, Remy and Myles all night long and then someone that can contain Sumner, which I'm not sure anyone can do in the country outside of Kris Dunn. That is a gauntlet. If Larry keeps playing better things only get tougher because athletically, Larry is an elite athlete. I mean, good luck. Villanova looked like they were trying to stop a runaway train last night and how many teams have looked like that this year? Man, I really hope we just go off in the tourney. Can't wait.

This team is a match-up nightmare. Any of our starters can score as well as defend. And then you have guys like Farr and Macura coming off the bench.
Just start calling Macura "rhetorical," because he makes points and teams have no answer for him.

From Fox Sports writer Reid Forgrave: 17 Things to know to get you caught up on this college basketball season
12. The most surprising team is Xavier. I don't want to gloat here. I'm not going to remind you I called Xavier as the Big East's dark-horse team in October. That's old news. What's new news? People are finally realizing that Xavier isn't a nice January story, or a decent team that happened to win a few games it shouldn't have. People are realizing Xavier is a legit national title contender (and, by the way, is young enough that it will be as good next year). The only other teams who'd have a shot at being called the most surprising team in college basketball are Iowa and Texas Tech. I'm going with the team that just beat the No. 1 team in the country and has a shot at winning it all.
He also included Xavier as one of the 17(!) teams who could potentially win it all

Yea, we'll be very good, but it's almost unfair what Duke and Kentucky are bringing in respectively. I'm terrified what they'll do. We'll still be very good though. Much better shot at the title this year.

I'm praying that they'll be disjointed, the whole less than the sum of its parts. Unlikely, so the next best hope is that they get upset in the tournament, paving the way for Xavier's second championship.

This is an insider article on the best CBB recruiter rankings. Notables:
13. Ashley Howard, Villanova Wildcats
A former assistant at both La Salle and Drexel who went to Xavier before returning to Philadelphia to join Jay Wright’s staff, Howard is beloved in his home city of Philadelphia. While there are few better in the City of Brotherly Love, Howard also had a hand in the pursuit of Jalen Brunson from outside the region last year. Villanova uses a team-based recruiting approach more than most programs though, and so it’s impossible to mention Howard without associate head coach Baker Dunleavy and up-and-comer Kyle Neptune, who ran point on Omari Spellman.
19. Travis Steele, Xavier Musketeers
Steele climbed the ranks at Xavier, beginning as the director of basketball operations under Sean Miller and becoming a full-fledged assistant when Chris Mack took over six years ago. He’s been a pivotal piece ever since, and was named the associate head coach prior to this season. Some of the most impactful Musketeers came through Steele’s work in recent years, including the likes of Trevon Bluiett, Edmond Sumner and Jalen Reynolds.
Best Assistants 35 and under:
4. Luke Murray, Xavier Musketeers
Only in the college ranks for six years now, Murray’s had two stops under Dan Hurley, first at Wagner and most recently Rhode Island, split by a trip to Towson. He built his resume with the likes of Jerrell Benimon, John Davis and Timajh Parker-Rivera at Towson followed by Kuran Iverson, Four McGlynn and Nikola Akele at Rhode Island. Most recently, he is responsible for Xavier’s incoming frontcourt tandem of Eddie Ekiyor and Tyrique Jones.

2. Chris Mack, Xavier Musketeers
Whether Xavier ends up as a No. 1 or No. 2 seed, either scenario would have seemed rather remarkable last November. The Musketeers began 2015-16 unranked, as pollsters had little or no inkling that a great season-to-season leap forward was forthcoming on offense in Cincinnati. Trevon Bluiett, Myles Davis, Edmond Sumner & Co. are simply far better than average across the board on that side of the ball. Not a bad method for securing a surprisingly high seed.

Nah, you're thinking of the first game before the plane-crash, they play the ECU Pirates. I'm also about 78% sure that they only put up "MARSHALL VS XAVIER" on the graphic, and the announcer before the game said Musketeers, ANNNND pronounced X right!
