IMO not my favorite by a stretch. I prefer ones that shows season highlights and has some music to get the student section fired up. Hopefully they have a new one for Saturday

Agreed.. I like the ones in the past more that have shown awesome X highlights from years past, especially ones from March. Anything Jordan Crawford esq, BJ's 3, Lionels shot against UC, etc... Those are what get me most hyped at least

I like the ones that focus on the current team, so this one is up there. However I do like having music or at least "beats" that helps get the crowd up, so this one doesn't quite check that box.

I've been near the student section every game, and they get fired up every time this video comes on so Im not sure what student section you're referring to if you don't think theyre pumped.
I like this video a lot. The first 15 seconds is supposed to be like the calm before the storm with the "soft" music and shots of cintas, D'art, etc. Then the more extreme bass hits with the team appearing. I think it's really good, but then again, I like all the intro videos recently. Each is different with a new feel and each year is a new team. I think my favorite is last years with them running through the city. If they could mix last years and this years, it would be my favorite by far.

I like the videos that include older big highlights, then highlights of the current team, with more familiar high energy music throughout. I don't mind this one, but I can't say it does anything to get me excited about tip off. The litmus test for me in one of these videos is whether or not it would give me goosebumps right before a big game. This one does not.

It's okay, but the action should be game footage. Dunking in an empty gym just reminds me of one Dayton did several years ago. I am sure X-Band has it in his files.

I get why people like seeing old highlights - there have been some awesome moments. Everytime I hear "Crawford... gotta hurry... (weird high pitched gus johnson scream)" I get chills.
That said, I think this is a good intro video. It feels... modern. Like TuClutch said, the students love it, and I'm sure the players love it too. It's, as the young kids would say, "on fleek."

I didn't like last year's video at all. The first half looked like it was pulled from the most boring part of a Jason Bourne movie with the camera shaking all over the place but nothing actually happening. The second half, I liked that they projected stuff on Cincinatti buildings, but the clips they showed were fairly dull.

The players love it and they had fun making it according to my friends who know them. Thats what matters. When theres any question about something or its in the middle of a couple options, the deciding factor will and should be what the players like best
Sorry, this is waaaay off topic, but anyone know how many seats per row in the lower bowl? I'm shoppoing for tix for Auburn game and have a bit of an issue being too far away from an aisle. Also, if anyone is looking to sell some lower bowl tix (I'm not going that far to sit up top, though I'm sure they're fine), let me know.

I don't necessarily want to see old highlights, I just want to actually SEE highlights, preferably of the players on the current team. There are a few in that video, but it is very hard to tell what the highlights actually are as they are in the background.

This video may indeed be the best X video made thus far. The "One shining moment" march madness video you posted after has its moments, but this one is better from start to finish. This one is the one which all future X videos should be compared.
Goodness I still can't stop myself from thinking about what could have been- had D. Brown stayed for his senior year. He would have owned the league. What a spectacular athlete.

Who is dunking (basically over that other player) at 37 secs in that one? Pretty sick.

I believe it was Tyrice Walker (if I am not mistaken). It looks like they are playing Evansville and I believe he had a dunk like that against them.

That 2012 one was the best. I love how it shows the tradition Xavier has and is basically full of great dunks and blocks which is really what everyone's trying to see. Xavier has had a lot of bad men come through the program (Tyrice, Derek Strong, Tyrone Hill, Brian Grant, David West) in its time as power forward u and it's nice to see. Would be a little better without Chris Mack and including Aaron Williams' baseline swinging dunk against Indiana and D Brown against George Washington just to think of a few off the top. Could've done without Redford's pump fake and three as well. Definitely my favorite Xavier has had in a long time though and it's not even close. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeSCI4Xrb8Y

I believe you are correct and #24, on the receiving end, is Parrish Casebier. Still don't know what he was thinking off when he left the Purple Aces and declared for the draft after his junior year. He went undrafted.

Disagree about this completely. Last years was better than this year, but both last year and this year are better than that hype video and 2 of the 3 others you linked to. The only one I would personally say is better is the 12/13 with them in the weight room. Different opinions though

I love that video. I suggest that they "update" it and bring in clips of more recent players. Showing Skip, Pete, Sean, and even Matta would be a fabulous way of saying we have a legacy of greatness, one we continue to build with this year's team.

Yeah for some reason just seeing the guys in an empty gym or running around in cincy doesnt do much for me. I would much prefer highlights of actual games with good music. The best are highlights of former and current players thrown in.

What I wish they would do for these is not only include some old and new highlights but also incorporate the radio and/or tv calls to go along with those highlights just as one shining moment does....like the "do it Bj, do it" etc etc. Instead they have an extremely lame song (in my opinion) like the 12-13 video which gets no one hyped up.
Not that anyone is asking me but for the video i'd start with some old highlights...move more to the current team as it goes along...with radio/tv calls...then the last ten or fifteen seconds, have a song that actually gets fans fired up along with current team highlights. I know Enter Sandman is extremely overused so not that song, but something like it would be awesome.

I am not sure everyone realizes it, but the videographer/person who designs and makes these intro and promo videos is a regular reader/visitor on this board.
He is an outstanding guy, great person, and I believe he does a wonderful job putting these videos and other media together. Constructive feedback may actually have an impact if he comes across this thread as he takes pride in his work and does care what fellow X-fans think. My kids love hanging out with him during the games and I think he is fantastic as well.
Let's hope he gets some great material from the game tomorrow after a butt-kicking of our cross-town rivals.

If he does, I really like the ones with player highlights. Along those lines, I think a great way to mix them would be to do something like this: mix footage of Hill pulling down a rebound and starting to make an outlet pass . . . then that pass goes to Grant making a couple dribbles and he passes down the court . . . to West who fires a pass inside . . . to Jalen who finishes with a monster dunk. Or maybe on a "shorter" scale by using a half-second of each of those guys as they progress on their way up for a dunk from a similar angle?
It would probably be a lot of work getting it right, but that would be a cool way (IMHO) to do current highlights mixed with legacy of XU basketball. And something that hasn't been done/used in these videos yet.
The last couple "team in a gym" and "team in the weight room" videos aren't my cup of tea. They are well made, but the highlights videos are much more exciting and interesting IMHO.

Why exactly did he not shake hands? Besides being an asshole, of course. But presumably he shook hands after every other game, so something made that one different.

There was some yelling bench to bench during the game and some words exchanged at halftime, and Huggins claimed after the game that the Xavier bench was yelling things at him and he was upset about it. Basically he was a big fat crybaby.
It is my understanding Gillen and him never got along but that Skip and Huggins never had any issues really.

I was on the bench for that game, coach Gillen was not completely innocent. If we are assigning blame for the event, I would drop 85% (or more) in Gillen's lap for the entire incident.

It is my understanding Gillen hated being second fiddle to Thuggins and that was a big reason as to why he left for Providence.
